Abstract: This invention relates to making the combustion chambers of internal combustion engines in such a way that during the period of compression, and due to it, and during the combustion period, and due to it, a storm effect will be created in the air and gasses, by which a predictable control over the combustion will result in the fuel burning as completely as possible, making the efficiency of the engine as high as possible; and so that the perpendicular pressures and forces due to the tangential forces of compression and combustion will balance, so that no undue wear and tear of the pistons and cylinders will result from the forces of compression and combustion storm and combustion process.

Abstract: The multi-blade concrete cutting saw cuts blocks of concrete or aerated concrete into equal sized slates with one pass through the saw. The cutting saw is supported by a frame having a base, an upper support structure and a pair of guide rails. A conveyor track transports the concrete blocks through the cutting saw. A concrete block is forced along the conveyor track and passes through six equally spaced, diamond tipped cutting blades. Each of the resultant slates have equal dimensions and weight. The cutting blades are disposed along a drive shaft and are arranged across the width of the conveyor track. The cutting blades are driven in a counterclockwise direction by a drive belt that connects the drive shaft to a motor. The conveyor track may be automatically driven by a pair of belt drives.

Abstract: Leukocytes, which may include one or more of monocytes, macrophages, lymphocytes, and neutrophils, are harvested and administered to a region of the body. In the preferred embodiment, leukocytes are harvested from the blood by plasmapherisis, a procedure known to those familiar with blood-banking techniques, and used to treat an intervertebral disc. Plasmapherisis allows the removal of desired blood component(s) from a larger volume of blood than the technique described in the '000 Application. Returning the non-desired blood components to the patient prior to withdraw of additional blood prevents complications that may occur from hypovolemia. Thus, a larger number of leukocytes can be obtained with plasmapherisis than with centrifugation of blood removed during a single blood withdraw. Plasmapherisis can also be used to harvest platelets to treat DDD, HNP and other non-disc-related conditions.

Abstract: A method of forming a crosslinked, non-discotic backbone polymer coating on a substrate, comprises the steps of: (a) coupling a layer of porphyrinic macrocycles to the substrate; (b) cross-linking the layer of porphyrinic macrocycles to form a layer of cross-linked porphyrinic macrocycles; and then (c) coupling a subsequent layer of porphyrinic macrocycles to the layer of cross-linked porphyrinic macrocycles of step (b) to form a none-discotic backbone polymer of porphyrinic macrocycles between the cross linked layer of step (b) and the subsequent layer of porphyrinic macrocycles to form a crosslinked, non-discotic backbone polymer coating thereon. Light harvesting arrays and solar cells that can be produced by such methods are also described.

Abstract: A roll-over valve for a blow-by gas circulation system of an engine includes a piston slidably mounted within a valve housing. A lateral inlet opening and an outlet opening are disposed in the valve housing. When the valve is upright, fluid flows freely from the inlet opening to the outlet opening through the valve housing. When the valve overturns, the piston moves axially within the valve housing under the force of gravity into a roll-over position. When the piston is in the roll-over position, it blocks the fluid path between the inlet and outlet lines to close the valve. The inlet opening is positioned such that pressure in the inlet opening does not impede the movement of the piston. An air bleed passage fluidly connects portions of the valve housing that are above and below the piston and dampens movement of the piston within the valve housing.

The porous material may be composed of brick or other substance with porous properties. When the sensor does not detect any rain absorption by the porous material, the switching mechanism will remain in the closed position providing an electrical connection between the irrigation controller and at least one sprinkler valve, thereby allowing the execution of an irrigation application by the irrigation controller. When the sensor detects rain absorption by the porous material, the switching mechanism will be in the open position.
