Publication number: 20040251079Abstract: An acoustic impedance matching enclosure is provided having a driver loaded into a chamber buffering the throat/mouth of a closed loop transmission line. Transmission line consists of a termination member, outer and inner enclosure walls, high-density lining and throat/mouth area. Transmission line eliminates internal random standing waves while providing variable-frequency standing waves that through superposition of the waves compensates for mass-acceleration loss of the high-end of the driver output while damping the resonance of the driver. Alternative application of the acoustic impedance matching enclosure is that of compression loading the driver directly into the closed loop transmission line and using an acoustic low pass filter to translate the output into low frequencies only through a port.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2004Publication date: December 16, 2004Inventor: Jan Princeton Plummer

Publication number: 20040251102Abstract: My invention, the Fast Check Anti-terrorism Luggage, consists of two major parts. The first is a cloth outer shell like the kind used on the outsides of many types of luggage bags. The outer shell can be unzipped revealing a clear plastic inner shell that contains the actual luggage. The inner shell is connected to the outer shell on the top of the bag as a lining is connected to the shell on a regular bag (duffel) and is connected to the front and back sides on the wheeled style suitcase on its spine. The inner shell functions as both a lining, and a antiterrorism device. The contents of the bag can be easily seen so that it is not always necessary to open and search all bags. Also the inner shell, since it is plastic is easily cleaned up if something is spilled. Other than these special features, my invention is a simple duffel or wheeled style piece of luggage that is common today all over the world.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2003Publication date: December 16, 2004Inventor: Paul Anthony Kirincic

Publication number: 20040251104Abstract: A fluid transmitting system includes a lock-up clutch whose clutch piston is disposed between a side cover connected to a pump impeller and a turbine runner. A Belleville spring for biasing the clutch piston to a clutch turning-on direction is mounted to a piston hub of the clutch piston slidably carried on a turbine hub so that the deformation attitude thereof is changed freely. A limiting means is provided between the clutch piston and the turbine runner for limiting the amount of retraction of the clutch piston to a constant value thereby preventing excessive deformation of the Belleville spring, when the clutch piston is retracted in a clutch turning-off direction. Publication number: 20040251122Abstract: A system for disinfecting a fluid containing microorganisms or chemical contaminants includes a plurality of photocatalyst surfaces secured to a solid surface upon which a fluid to be disinfected contacts. A structure for removing a portion of the photogenerated electrons is in electrical contact with the photocatalyst layer, wherein an electron-hole recombination rate involving the photogenerated electrons and holes is reduced, thus increasing the removal rate of microorganisms or chemical contaminants from the fluid. The system can include a source of photons having a wavelength corresponding to a band gap energy of the photocatalyst to illuminate the photocatalyst layer. The invention can be used in air supply registers of a heating, ventilating and air conditioning system, or in air ducts, or used to disinfect wall coverings, floor coverings, envelopes, packages, and clothing articles.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2003Publication date: December 16, 2004Applicant: University of FloridaInventor: Dharendra Yogi Goswami

Publication number: 20040251123Abstract: A device for dissociating an electronegative molecular gas includes a cylindrical-shaped tube having a wall that surrounds a discharge chamber. A first injector is positioned to introduce the molecular gas into a central region of the discharge chamber. A second injector is positioned to introduce an atomic gas, such as Argon, into an annular region between the central region and the tube wall. An induction coil is mounted on the wall and energized. This ionizes the atomic gas and creates a plasma discharge in the annular region. Electrons liberated by the discharge interact with the molecular gas at the interface layer between the molecular and atomic gases, dissociating the molecular gas. The interaction between the plasma discharge and the electronegative molecular gas is substantially limited to the interface layer to avoid quenching of the plasma discharge. In one application, the device is used to recover Fluorine from Uranium Hexafluoride (UF6).Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2003Publication date: December 16, 2004Inventor: Tihiro Ohkawa

Publication number: 20040251124Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for compensating for variations in line voltages the power an electro-kinetic air transporter and conditioner device. The electro-kinetic air transporter and conditioner device includes a high voltage generator that provides a potential difference between at least one emitter electrode and at least one collector electrode. The high voltage generator is driven by both a DC voltage obtained from an AC voltage source, and a low voltage pulse signal. The DC voltage is stepped down to produce a voltage sense signal indicative of a level of AC voltage source. The voltage sense signal is monitored. At least one of a pulse width, duty cycle and frequency of the low voltage pulse signal is adjusted, based on the monitored voltage sense signal, in order to substantially maintain the potential difference at a desired level.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2003Publication date: December 16, 2004Applicant: Sharper Image CorporationInventor: Shek Fai Lau
