Abstract: A ruler that is to be used for cutting sheets of material perpendicular to its longitudinal edges. The ruler is a longitudinal piece of rigid material that increases in thickness from one edge to the other. A cutting groove is placed into the rigid material at a thickened edge so as to aid the direction of a sharpened instrument passing through the groove while cutting the material. A hardened insert may be inserted into the groove to prevent the edges of the groove being damaged by the sharp cutting instrument. One end of the ruler has an extension of eyelet molded thereon and the other end of the ruler has a depression molded into an under surface of the ruler. Both the eyelet and the depression have a matching configuration to snap-fit into each other to thereby connect two rulers together in a rigid manner.

Abstract: A layout device is used with an archery bow. The bow has a riser and a pair of flexible limbs extending oppositely from the riser. The layout device includes a frame with an arm configured for coupling with the riser. The arm has a longitudinal axis. An axial adjustment mechanism is carried by the frame, and is movable relative to the frame in a direction generally orthogonal to the longitidinal axis. A laser is carried by the axial adjustment mechanism. The laser is rotatable at least approximately 180° about a rotation axis extending generally orthogonal to the longitudinal axis.

Abstract: Measuring the required distance necessary for a first down in the sport of football. The apparatus includes a ten yard marker pole with an attached laser apparatus. The laser apparatus emits light in the blue-green wavelength and is capable of emitting laser beam across the entire width of the field onto a target, to aid an official in determining if a first down has occurred or not.

Abstract: A football measuring device has a handle, a chain segment extending from the handle, and a bar mounted perpendicular to the handle. A removable clip is placed on the chain segment to mark the displacement of the football relative to the first down position.

Abstract: A reflecting lighted level (10) for facilitating leveling of an object, the reflecting lighted level (10) broadly comprising a generally frustoconically-shaped vial (12) having first and second exterior surfaces (22,24) and an internal angled reflecting surface (26); a light source (14) for emitting light; a light tube (16) for focusing or concentrating the emitted light towards the vial (12); a base (18) for supporting the vial (12); and a power source (20) for powering the light source (14). The internal angled reflecting surface (26) within the vial (12) is positioned at a generally 45° angle for reflecting light. The light source (14), a light emitting diode (“LED”), is centrally positioned relative to the vial (12). The light tube (16) is positioned proximate to the first exterior surface (22) of the vial (12), such that the light tube (16) is positioned between the light source (14) and the vial (12). The light source (14) is then partially positioned within the light tube (14).

Abstract: An apparatus for marking and scoring a work object has a first member having a first and second side. A flange is connected to a second side of the first member. A second member has a first edge and a second edge. The second member is connected to extend perpendicularly from the first member. The first edge has a plurality of crenulations extending therealong for receiving an instrument. The flange of the first member is positioned against an edge of a work object and the instrument is positioned between adjacent ones of the plurality of crenulations and against the work object. When the first member is moved along the edge of the work object, the instrument is caused to mark or score the work object along a line parallel to the work object.

Abstract: Ensuring that the correct wheel bearing is installed in the wheel assembly of an aircraft. A plastic mold is designed to hold only one size of wheel bearing. The mold is labeled with the wheel bearing serial number and the corresponding aircraft model number. Because only one size of wheel bearing fits properly in the mold, it facilitates identification and use of the correct size wheel bearing in the aircraft wheel assembly. The mold can be used to ship wheel bearings to air carriers and to store wheel bearings before installation into aircraft wheel assemblies. The mold also offers protection for the wheel bearing from contamination or damage.

Abstract: This invention pertains to enclosed footwear in combination with a leg covering or body covering that is storable within a compartment that is integral with an exterior of the enclosed footwear. The leg covering can be either a gaiter or a pants leg portion, and the body covering can be either a sack portion or a suit portion. The leg covering or body covering can be of a material that is protective against biological attacks, chemical attacks, nuclear radiation and snake bites. The leg covering or body covering can also be flame resistant, thermally protective and cut proof.

Abstract: The invention is an article of footwear having a sole comprised of one or more support elements formed of a resilient, compressible material. The support elements are designed such that the positions of one or more bands that encircle the exterior surface of the support elements may be altered such that the deflection characteristics of the support elements are changed. In order to facilitate the repositioning of the bands, the support element includes an access indentation defined by the exterior surface or flanges that are secured to each band.

Abstract: A waterproof shoe includes a waterproof breathable lining sleeve which is mounted inside an upper and which is made of an air-permeable waterproof material, and a cup member attached to a bottom end of the lining sleeve. The cup member is made of an air-impermeable waterproof material and includes a cup bottom which has a toe region and a heel region, and a cup wall which projects laterally and upwardly from said cup bottom and extends around the toe and heel regions. Preferably, the cup member is a molded body formed by a molding process, and the bottom end of the upper is lasted over the cup bottom.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting and processing granular material admixes granular material with a fluid to produce a slurry and then removes and processes the slurry. The apparatus enables fluid flowing into the apparatus to be directed substantially simultaneously between a first conduit for admixing granular material with the fluid to produce a slurry and a second conduit for producing suction to remove the slurry.

Abstract: First and second hydraulic pumps each adapted to operate plural actuators are activated by separate electric motors respectively. In accordance with signals provided from a controller on the basis of operations of levers, the number of revolutions of the electric motor and that of the electric motor are controlled each independently and simultaneously to control the discharge rates of both hydraulic pumps.

Abstract: A firefly simulation device which has a first depending flexible line segment, a motor driven fan at the distal end of the first depending flexible line segment, a second depending flexible line segment and an LED at the distal end of the second depending flexible line segment. The fan provides thrust in a plane normal to the first depending flexible line segment. The LED has a small light-transmitting opening able to be eclipsed by the LED body. In a darkened environment, the device provides apparent random motion and blinking of a light simulating a firefly.

Abstract: An integrated advertisement board includes a frame, several light emitting elements arranged on the frame in a form of a matrix, and a controlling circuit electrically connected to the light emitting element; the controlling circuit is used for making each light emitting element emit light and stop emitting light in an alternate way for the light emitting element to present patterns as well as for the patterns to have constantly changing appearance.

Abstract: A display sign for suspension from a ceiling has a ceiling mount with a passage extending therethrough. A turntable is rotatably held in the passage, with a graphic holder attached to the turntable and thereby rotatably mounted below the sign mount. The display sign may be mounted in a ceiling below a light fixture so that the display holder will be illuminated.

Abstract: A system and method for extracting a round of ammunition from a semi-automatic handgun having a slide with an opening are provided. An extractor assembly includes a first member configured to be disposed in the opening of the slide such that the slide encloses the first member. A second member has a portion configured to engage a round of ammunition. The second member is configured to pivot relative to the first member. A joint may connect the first member with the second member to allow the second member to pivot relative to the first member to thereby engage the round of ammunition. In addition, a spring may be provided to bias the second member into engagement with the round of ammunition.

Abstract: A trigger lock is shown which rotates from a fire position in which the trigger can operate and to a no-fire position in which the trigger cannot operate. The lock is located primarily within the frame. A thumb lever or a key can be used to engage the trigger lock to rotate the trigger lock from the fire to the no-fire position and vice versa.

Abstract: A flashlight mount, and a method for mounting a flashlight, for a rifle having a barrel and a mounting rail coupled to the barrel, the flashlight mount including a frame having a bore for receiving a flashlight, the frame defining a substantially flattened bottom surface, and a base for mounting along the mounting rail, the base being distanced from the frame, thereby creating a finger-receiving aperture therebetween.

Abstract: A fishing tool having a handle and a body with one or more notches is provided to facilitate wrapping and holding a sufficient length of fishing line around the tool to permit the line to be forcefully pulled from a point of entanglement. The handle can be a grip-aperture defined by the body. In a preferred embodiment, the tool is provided with a beveled lower edge to facilitate using the tool to slice bait. A method for releasing a snagged fishing line is also disclosed.

Abstract: A universal guide is a base of a fishing line guide assembly designed to conform to the outside radius of a round rod or to the flat surface of a rod having a polygonal cross section. The guide is preferably helical. The base has a curved top side, a segmented underside, and tips at the toes of the guide. The underside has a concave portion and a flat portion. The concave portion comprises the center of the segmented underside and extends the length thereof. The surface of the concave portion is designed to conform to the outside diameter of a round rod. The flat portion flanks both sides of the central concave portion and also extends the length of the guide foot. The surfaces of the flat portion are designed to match the outside surface of a standard fishing rod having a polygonal cross section. The guide foot tips taper the thickness of the base from the top surface to the underside enabling a smooth transition for wrapping at the guide-rod interface.

Abstract: A means to cast a fishing bait or lure using a weight on your fishing line which eliminates the disadvantages of weight on the line. This is achieved by the use of a weight, so configured that it detaches from fishing line instantly or over time, depending on preference, upon contact with water. The configuration of the weight is 2 equal bodies of clay held together by water-soluble adhesive tape. The amount of tape determines the amount of time the weight stays attached to the line. The identical clay bodies have a tab and slot on the mating surface of the bodies to prevent slippage. There is a groove down the longitudinal axis of the bodies, which forms a hole for fishing line when the bodies are joined together. This weight is easily attached to the line using the hole formed.

Abstract: An insect swatter includes an elongate rod with an elastic lash fixedly joined to a distal end thereof. The lash is sized for being stretched from the rod distal end to adjacent a proximal end of the rod so that release of the lash results in spontaneous contraction thereof for swatting the insect. In an exemplary embodiment, the swatter is in the form of a pistol, with the lash extending from the distal end of the rod to a latch operated by a trigger. Aiming the rod toward the insect and pulling the trigger releases the lash for swatting the insect.

Abstract: Water repellent soil is treated with low concentrations of a blend of alkyl polyglycoside and EO/PO block copolymer in a weight ratio range of from 6:1 to 0.5:1 of glycoside to block copolymer in order to rapidly increase the wetting rate of the water repellent soil.

Abstract: A plant packaging and covering system including a floral sleeve having a decorative pattern thereon. The sleeve may have a lower portion sized to cover a pot and an upper portion which can surround a plant disposed in the pot and which can be detached after the protective function of the upper portion is complete or which can be used to support the sleeve from a support device prior to use. The decorative pattern preferably has an arcuate upper boundary in the flattened condition which when opened, gives the sleeve the appearance of having an upper edge which is parallel to the upper rim of the pot disposed within the sleeve.

Abstract: A plant border system includes a flat and a plant tray. The flat defines a flat cavity and a flat top opening communicating with the flat cavity. An upstanding rim surrounds at least a portion of the flat top opening. The plant tray defines a tray cavity and a tray top opening communicating with the tray cavity. The tray cavity has a tray width and a tray length that is greater than the tray width. The plant tray includes a collar surrounding at least a portion of the tray top opening, the collar defining a downwardly opening channel. The flat is adapted to receive the plant tray in the flat cavity such that the rim is received in the channel and the flat is thereby structurally reinforced by the plant tray to resist flexure.

Abstract: The invention relates to a safety edge for horizontally pivoted rolling gates actuated by a motor unit. It consists of a profile (11) made of rubber or other soft flexible material and having a base (14) for its application to a rolling date, and of two electrical conductors (15, 16) extending longitudinally into the soft profile, parallel and normally separate from one another. The conductors move closer in the presence of a deforming thrust on said profile, to come into contact and enable an electrical circuit to send a signal for stopping the rolling gate motor unit.

Abstract: A vehicle door cinching apparatus for assisting the final closing motion of a sliding vehicle door includes an electromagnet, a ferrous metal plate, a cinch drive and a controller. The electromagnet mounts on either an outer periphery of a vehicle sliding door or an inner periphery of a vehicle sliding door frame that's shaped to receive the sliding door as the door moves along a final inward cinching portion of a door path to a final closed position within the door frame. The plate is supported on the other of the outer periphery of the door and the inner periphery of the door frame in a position where the plate can magnetically engage the electromagnet when the door is disposed along the final cinching portion of the door path. Whichever of the plate and electromagnet is supported on the inner periphery of the door frame is also supported for lateral movement in a direction generally parallel to the cinching portion of the door path.

Abstract: Described is a covering element for buildings comprising at least one, preferably fixedly arranged support apparatus and at least one film pillow that displays two outer film layers, between which is formed at least one hollow space closed in a gastight manner and containing gas, especially air, and displays a fastening section in which the two outer film layers are connected to each other and by which section the film pillow is anchored to the support apparatus. The special aspect of this covering element for buildings consists in the fact that at least one thermally insulating element is arranged in the fastening section of the film pillow and in the fact that the two outer film layers are spaced apart from each other by the thermally insulating element and thereby rest upon the latter.

At least one intermediate horizontal cross member extends across the vertically enlarged opening and defines upper and lower openings through the frame. The intermediate cross member and at least a selected one of the first and second horizontal frame members include a plurality of horizontally spaced apart attachment locations defining a plurality of discrete, serially adjacent mounting spaces. The partition panel further includes a utility unit that is mountable in a selected one of the mounting spaces.

Abstract: Structures are desirable for storing items in an attractive manner. Persons frequently have a need to store items outdoors, such as lawn care equipment. Structures are aesthetically pleasing by providing a rock-shaped storage enclosure. A pool with a circulation system may be present on the top of the cover of the structure. Additional accessories, such as fountains, birdbaths, weathervanes, bird feeders, birdhouses, and waterwheels may also be attached to the top of the cover as desired. A door hingedly attached to the side of the cover allows access to the interior of the structure.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a fascia assembly that includes a first anchor bar, a second anchor bar, and an anchor bar splice. The first and second anchor bars are mounted to a vertical surface of an edge of a roof. The first anchor bar includes a first end, and the second anchor bar includes a second end that is adjacent to the first end of the first anchor bar. The anchor bar splice is positioned between the first end of the first anchor bar and the second end of the second anchor bar for preventing the passage of water between the first and second anchor bars. The anchor bar splice includes a resilient shell that defines a cavity and a foam core within the cavity.

Abstract: A prefabricated pad for a pool and its associated method of installation under the liner of an above-ground pool. The prefabricated pad is interposed between the ground surface and the pool liner, wherein the prefabricated pad cushions the pool liner, reduces contact stresses against the pool liner and prevents the pool liner from being punctured by any object present below the pool. The prefabricated pad also supports the pool liner as the pool liner turns from the vertical walls of the pool to the flat bottom of the pool.

Abstract: A precast post-tensioned segmental pole system capable of supporting a load is provided. The pole system includes a plurality of pole segments that use connectors and strands to anchor them together. The strands extend within a cavity formed in the pole segments and are external to the wall structure of the pole segments. The strands may be coupled between both of the pole segments, or be anchored to a connector. The connector includes an upper piece that is coupled to one pole segment, and a lower piece that is coupled to the other pole segment. Upper and lower pieces interlock with each other to join the pole segments to one another. The strands are placed in tension so that pole system is capable of withstanding forces imposed by the load.

Abstract: The ends of carbon plates reinforcing supporting elements, such as concrete beams, are divided into at least two splines having approximately the same thickness and are glued in the appropriate retaining slots of a terminal element. The splines form an angle in relation to each other. This assembly is then glued to the traction side of the supporting element, whereby the carbon plates are directly prestressed by the terminal elements in relation to the supporting element. The terminal element can be inserted into an appropriate groove in the supporting element or glued directly on the surface of the supporting element and/or doweled, optionally by using a transverse tensioning device.

Abstract: A structural system includes a plurality of structural elements. Each of the elements includes an interior layer, an exterior layer, and an insulating layer between the interior layer and the exterior layer. The structural elements are stacked adjacent to one another to form a wall. A respective cushion is placed between adjacent structural elements. The cushions create airspaces such that there is no direct surface contact between adjacent structural elements. The exterior layers of the structural elements can be fabricated from cast concrete material, and can be provided with simulative exterior surfaces, for example, with exterior surfaces simulating the appearance of structural logs.

Abstract: A deck construction including a plurality of supports for anchoring deck construction elements to a building site. The supports include a body (which may be an integrally molded concrete pier) having upper and lower portions. The upper portion includes at least one slot for seating a horizontally oriented construction member. The slot includes a center socket portion having four extended corners for seating the bottom end of a vertically oriented construction member. The slot and center socket are defined by connecting wall portions which may be integral to the body or may be of plastic or metal and suitable secured to the body. In some cases, two mutually perpendicular slots are provided.

Abstract: A building block has a cement-based attachment layer on one or both exterior surfaces of the block that can receive and hold a penetrating fastener such as a nail, screw, staple, or the like. This allows surficial coverings such as wallboard, siding or other materials to be easily attached to a block wall made of the building blocks. The block includes substantially semi-cylindrical concave portions that form a cross-linked structure of channels when the blocks are assembled into a wall. Once the blocks have been stacked in place in a wall, grout or other suitable filling material is poured into the cross-linked structure of channels. When the filling material hardens, the blocks are locked together. Surficial covering materials may then be nailed, screwed, or stapled directly to the attachment layer.

Abstract: A horizontally level raised terrace floor system for mounting over a non-level or irregular substructure that includes a plurality of spaced apart support pedestals that are fabricated of a heat shearable foam material. Each pedestal is mounted upon the non-horizontally level substructure and the pedestals are heat sheared so that the top surface of each pedestal lies in a common horizontal plane above the substructure. A plurality of flat grates are placed directly upon the pedestals in an edge to edge relationship. A plurality of interlocking paving blocks are laid down over the grates to provide a tight deck over the grates.

Abstract: A wood floor system comprises a plurality of parallel rows of floorboards laid end-to-end, and each of the floorboards includes a compression nub extending along a side surface thereof, adjacent the top surface. These compression nubs affirmatively engage an opposing side surface of an adjacent floorboard row, thereby sealing, or isolating, the top surface of the floor from the side surfaces of the floorboard rows. This uniformly distributes expansion and contraction forces throughout the floor, due to uniform spacing between the floorboard rows. The isolation of the upper floorboard surface from the side surface also prevents undesired downward migration or flow of liquid finishing solution, which can have serious adverse affects for a wood floor. The invention reduces the total volume of finishing solution necessary for finishing the floor, and it also reduces “overwood” during floor installation.

Abstract: The invention provides a ceiling-grid system including a main-runner and a cross-tee. The main-runner has a main-runner tee-portion including at least one opening having a frustoconical portion and a second portion. The cross-tee has a cross-tee tee-portion and a cross-tee support shoulder. The cross-tee tee-portion includes an end and a projection extending from the end. The cross-tee support shoulder is coupled to the cross-tee tee-portion and the projection is insertable into the frustoconical portion and slidable into the second portion.

Abstract: A high-span anchoring system is described for a cavity wall incorporating a wall reinforcement combined with a wall tie which together serve a wall construct having a larger-than-normal cavity. Further the various embodiments combine wire formatives which are compressively reduced in height by the cold-working thereof. Among the embodiments is a veneer anchoring system with a low-profile wall tie for use in a heavily insulated wall. The compressively reduced in height wall anchors protrude into the cavity through the seams, between insulation strips, which seams seal thereabout and maintain the integrity of the insulation by minimizing air leakage. Further, the eye wires extend across the insulation into the cavity between the wythes, and each accommodates the threading thereinto of a wire facing anchor or wall tie with either a pintle inserted through the eye or the open end of the veneer tie. The veneer tie is then positioned so that the insertion end is embedded in the facing wall.

Abstract: A coated fiber mat of improved tear strength upon dividing pieces of the coated mat and the coating is provided. The coated mat is a cured, non-woven mat including a mixture of fibers having different fiber lengths. The fibers contain a polysiloxane compound and are fixedly distributed in a binder.

Abstract: A floorboard and an openable locking system therefor comprise an undercut groove on one long side of the floorboard and a projecting tongue on the opposite long side of the floorboard. The undercut groove has a corresponding upwardly directed inner locking surface at a distance from its tip. The tongue and the undercut groove are formed to be brought together and pulled apart by a pivoting motion which has its center close to the intersection between the surface planes and the common joint plane of two adjoining floorboards.

Abstract: An interlocking hollow body configured and arranged with integrally formed and partially laterally overlapped upper and lower generally rectangular sections which form (a) a central commons portion, (b) a cantilevered portion of the upper section projecting from a first side of the body, and (c) a cantilevered portion of the lower section projecting from a second side of the body. The body has (i) a decorative front surface on the upper and lower sections, (ii) a rear surface on the upper and lower sections, (iii) laterally offset first ends on the upper and lower sections, (iv) laterally offset second ends on the upper and lower sections, (v) an underside of the upper section between the laterally offset first ends on the upper and lower sections, and (vi) a top of the lower section between the laterally offset second ends on the upper and lower sections. A protrusion projects from either the underside of the upper section or the top of the lower section.

Abstract: Elements are provided to erect a female blanking die for a die cutting machine for die cutting and/or blanking a carton blank, as well as for erecting a combination male blanking die/female blanking die. The elements include the following specifically-described elements: jogger members; auxiliary adjustable support members; grid orientation cylinders; grid support brackets; template corner locking clamps; center line orientation cylinders; center line clamps; and rail connecting elements. The rail connecting elements serve to erect a rectangular framework for the universal press frame of the female blanking die wherein the front and the rear rails are disposed at a higher level than the side rails. Embodiments of jogger members are provided which are selectively-disposed along the internal perimeter of the rectangular framework for erecting the female blanking die, each such jogger member having a particularly-recited structure.

Abstract: A closure assembly is provided that includes first and second intersecting members such as a rail and stile. The rail and stile are engaged with one another forming a butt joint, preferably a corner. Male and female keys are respectively secured to the rail and stile with the keys forming a dovetail interlocking relationship with complimentary tapered surfaces. A fastener is received by the keys to expand the tapered surfaces forcing the rail and stile to be drawn into further engagement with one another at the butt joint. The interlocking tapered surfaces produce a stronger joint and eliminate any gap that might result at the joint as the threaded fastener is installed. The door is assembled by securing the male key to the rail. The stile is aligned with the rail and the second key is inserted into a pocket in the stile. The male and female keys are interlocked and a fastening element is installed into the keys to expand the keys and draw the rail and stile into further engagement with one another.

Abstract: A mortar grouting type joint for reinforcing bars is provided, which comprises a hollow cylindrical body having an opening cover (2) at an end, a bolt hole (8) on the side wall, and a supporting protrusion (5) on the inner peripheral wall, adapted to support reinforcing bars (12) with a bolt (13) and the supporting protrusion (5), wherein the supporting protrusion (5) consists of a pair of thin-walled members extending in parallel in the longitudinal direction of the hollow cylindrical body, and each thin-walled member has a ridge line (7) sloping toward the opening cover (2), with the portion of the thin-walled member supporting the reinforcing bar (12) inserted through the opening cover (2) constituting the apex, whereby the reinforcing bar to be inserted can be automatically guided to the position coaxial with the joint, said joint being suitable for performing connection of a number of sets of bare reinforcing bars such as connection of reinforcing bar structures.
