  • Patent number: RE38937
Abstract: It was an objective of the present invention to provide a susceptor which can prevent a increasing phenomenon of the dopant concentration of the epitaxial layer at the peripheral portion of the wafer. By providing a through-hole 7 passing through to a rear side at the outer peripheral side of the wafer inside the wafer pocket 6, a down flow of a reacting source gas from the upper surface of the susceptor 5 is formed, so that the unwanted flow of the dopant species being exhausted at the rear surface onto the wafer surface can be avoided. As a result, a raise in the dopant concentration at the outer peripheral portion of the epitaxial layer 9 can be controlled.

  • Patent number: RE38939
Abstract: Disclosed is a Segmented Coil Array (“SCA”) for use in rotary electromotive devices, such as motors and generators, which employ multiple coils operating within an axial gap magnetic structure. Individual conductor coils have offset circumferentially extending portions so as to allow interlocking of adjacent coils radially extending portions to form a circular array in which all of the coils' working conductors, which are those in the axial magnetic field, can be oriented in the same plane. This construction allows minimum magnet gap spacing, thus, maximizing the available magnetic flux. The resulting SCA may easily be commuted as a three-phase motor, actuator, or generator. The invention also provides a structure whereby multiple coil arrays and associated magnetic rotors may be alternately stacked in layers so as to further increase the total coil working area within a motor or generator of a given diameter.

  • Patent number: RE38940
Abstract: A DC to DC buck pulse width modulator converter circuit includes an input, a high side output and a low side output. A high side switch is electrically connected between a common output node and a voltage supply, and controls a flow of current therethrough dependent upon the high side output. A low side switch is electrically connected between the common output node and ground, and controls a flow of current therethrough dependent upon the low side output. A virtual ground amplifier includes a second input electrically connected to ground. A current feedback resistor is electrically connected intermediate the common output node and a first input of the virtual ground amplifier. A variable impedance component is electrically connected to an output of the virtual ground amplifier and to the first input of the virtual ground amplifier. The impedance of the variable impedance component is varied dependent upon the output of the virtual ground amplifier.

  • Patent number: RE38941
Abstract: In an ink droplet ejecting method and apparatus, by merely adding one pulse after a driving waveform for a main ejection of ink, without changing the driving voltage, it is possible to obtain an ink droplet of a desired volume and also possible to minimize the decrease of the ink droplet speed. The pulse width Wa of a jet pulse signal A is set equal to time T required for one-way propagation through an ink chamber of a pressure wave which is generated in the ink chamber, while the pulse width Wb of an additional pulse signal B is set at 0.2T to 0.6T, and a time difference between a fall timing of the jet pulse signal A and a rise timing of the additional pulse signal B is set at 0.3T to 0.7T, whereby an ink droplet being ejected is reduced in size and only one drive voltage is sufficient. Thus, the cost can be reduced, and a decrease of the ink droplet speed is prevented.

  • Patent number: RE38942
Abstract: An apparatus for generating a high quality image from a digital video signal includes a system for gamma correcting the digital video signal with a digital look up table and for converting the resultant digital signal to an analog video signal. Another circuit generates a triangular wave reference pattern signal and a comparator compares the analog video signal with the triangular wave reference pattern signal to form a pulse-width-modulated signal. A raster scanning print engine producing, for example, a laser beam, scans over a recording medium in accordance with the pulse-width-modulated signal, thereby forming an image of high quality on the recording medium of a print engine. This apparatus can also be used with an analog video signal by first converting the analog video signal to a digital video signal with an analog to digital converter.

  • Patent number: RE38943
Abstract: A compound objective lens is composed of a hologram lens or transmitting a part of incident light without any diffraction to form a beam of transmitted light and diffracting a remaining part of the incident light to form a beam of first-order diffracted light, and an objective lens for converging the transmitted light to form a first converging spot on a front surface of a thin type of first information medium and converging the diffracted light to form a second converging spot on a front surface of a thick type of second information medium. Because the hologram selectively functions as a concave lens for the diffracted light, a curvature of the transmitted light differs from that of the diffracted light.

  • Patent number: RE38946
Abstract: A small toy or figurine is located inside a transparent body of soap. The soap fully surrounds and encapsulates the small toy. The small toy is completely visible within the body of soap. The body of soap is shaped like a figurine or is in another form which may complement or conform to the shape of the inner toy. A clear or colored plastic container whose shape matches the shape of the body of soap serves as a container for the soap and may also serve as a soap dish. The body of soap is placed inside the plastic container. The small toy incased within the body of soap is visible from outside the plastic container once the body of soap is placed inside the plastic container.
