Patent number: 7007356Abstract: A method of forming a cushioning pad includes placing a component formed of polyurethane foam onto a first web of polyethylene foam. A second web of polyethylene foam is then placed over the component to sandwich the component. Heat and pressure is applied to the sandwich, which flattens the component and forms a seam between the first web and the second web encircling the component. If an unsealed cushioning pad is to be formed, a hollow needle is inserted into one of the first web or the second web. Air passes through the hollow needle and into the component, which absorbs the air and expands. Later, the needle is removed. If a sealed cushioning pad is to be formed, an insertion point of the hollow needle is in the seam, between the first web and the second web. After the component absorbs air and expands, the needle is removed and the insertion point of the hollow needle is re-seamed.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2003Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: Phoenix Performance Products, Inc.Inventors: Douglas J. Patent number: 7007362Abstract: A method of forming a slip joint includes providing a forming mandrel having a plurality of axially extending external splines, placing an inner tube circumferentially about the mandrel, and applying radially inward pressure on the inner tube to deform the inner tube and cause it to conform to the shape of the mandrel. The deformation step forms splines on the outer surface of the inner tube. A circumferential seal is then applied around the inner tube, and an outer tube is placed around the inner tube and the seal. Radially inward pressure is applied on the outer tube to deform the outer tube and cause it to conform to the shape of the inner tube, and thereby forming splines on the inner surface of the outer tube. The splines on the outer surface of the inner tube and the splines on the inner surface of the outer tube are configured to cooperate together to form a slip joint.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2003Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: Torque-TractionTechnologies, Inc.Inventor: Daniel W. Patent number: 7007365Abstract: A sliding panel display device for displaying two different images, such as photographs, comprises front and rear panels, each bearing a different image or photograph, and each divided into a plurality of parallel strips. The strips of the front panel are arranged as slidable interleaves between the strips of the rear panel, whereby the strips of the front panel are movable between a first position, in which the strips of the rear panel are completely covered by the strips of the front panel, and a second position, in which the strips of the front panel are completely hidden behind the strips of the rear panel whereby in the first position, only the image on the front panel is visible, while in the second position, only the image on the rear panel is visible. These panels are held together in the interleaved relationship in a holder that forms a frame. The rear panel is fixed in the holder, while the front panel is held in the holder so as to be slidable between the first and second positions.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2002Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Inventor: Mark Vanderburg
