Patent number: 7093342Abstract: Thin steel strip is passed through a pinch roll stand comprising pinch rolls to a rolling mill comprising a pair of work rolls and upper and lower backing rolls. Strip passes through the bite between the work rolls and strip squeezing forces are applied between the work rolls to reduce the thickness of the strip. The pinch rolls apply tension to the strip passing to the work rolls. In order to minimize generation of crimping defects in the strip, the tension applied by the pinch rolls is high enough to ensure no part of the strip entering the work rolls is in longitudinal compression such as to exceed the buckling stress of the strip. The applied tension is sufficiently low as to produce no more than 1% strip elongation through creep. The strip may be hot rolled by the work rolls at a temperature in the range of 700° C.–1200° C.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2001Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Castrip LLCInventors: John Albert Ziegelaar, Michael Angel Lopez, Andrew Edward Dixon

Patent number: 7093344Abstract: A slack-forming mechanism for stator coils that is able to impart slack of appropriate size to the stator coil without imposing an excessively heavy burden on the coiling machine. The slack-forming mechanism includes a coiling machine attachment jig having a protruding member that passes through a clearance formed between a stator body and connector, and has a top edge positioned higher than a clearance pass-through part of a stator coil. As it is possible to form slack in the stator coil without changing the configuration of the coiling machine, deficiencies in prior art slack-forming mechanisms are overcome such as the difficulty of maintaining uniform slack amounts, and unreliability. Moreover, since design-related restrictions are few, an adequately large slack is imparted to the stator coil to adequately suppress breakage of the stator coil induced by temperature change.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2003Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Minebea Co., Ltd.Inventors: Taiichi Miya, Naohiko Aoyama

Patent number: 7093345Abstract: A wireless communication device coupled to a wave antenna that provides greater increased durability and impedance matching. The wave antenna is a conductor that is curved in alternating sections. The wireless communication device is coupled to the wave antenna to provide wireless communication. The wireless communication device and wave antenna may be placed on objects, goods, or other articles of manufacture that are subject to forces such that the wave antenna may be stretched or compressed during the manufacture and/or use of such object, good or article of manufacture. The wave antenna, because of its curved structure, is capable of stretching and compressing more easily than other structures, reducing the wireless communication device's susceptibility to damage or breakage that might render the wireless communication device coupled to the wave antenna unable to properly communicate information wirelessly.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2005Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Inventors: Ian James Forster, Peter Robert George Horrell, Patrick F. Patent number: 7093346Abstract: A hard disk hub has a disk-mounting face formed at one end as a truncated conical surface of revolution symmetric about the hub axis. A cylindrical inner hub member is coaxial with the hub body outside diameter and the surrounding mounting face. The inner hub member is adapted to receive a planar disk with a central mounting hole with disk inside diameter fitted around it. The mounting face is disposed at a hub conning angle (?/2+/??) relative to the hub axis. Hub conning angle ? is selected so that a disk mounting force F applied to an inner disk portion surrounding the central mounting opening bends a portion of the disk interior to the hub inside diameter to conform contiguous facing relationship with the conical disk-mounting face. This interior bending portion reduces or eliminates the tendency of the outer disk portion to form an excessive conning angle ?.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2005Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Woo-Sung Kim, Sung-Wook Kim, Eui-Sup Ka
