Publication number: 20060201686Abstract: A farrier's tool and a method of using the tool for preparing the hoof of a horse to receive a shoe. The tool is a symmetrical measuring device used for determining the position of the breakover point on a horse's hoof. After the position of the break-over point is determined, the portion of the hoofwall forward of the breakover point is beveled by means of a trimming tool to reduce leverage on the underlying coffin bone, particularly during locomotion. A horseshoe is then shaped to conform to the contour of the trimmed and beveled hoof and nailed to the hoof. The method provides means for accurately aligning the hoof capsule with the coffin bone in the hoof.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2006Publication date: September 14, 2006Inventor: Pete Healey

The retainer unit includes an engaging member connected fixedly to the front half module, a handle unit disposed on the rear half module, a hook member biased to engage the engaging member so as to retain the front half module on the rear half module. The handle unit is operable so as to disengage the hook member from the engaging member.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2005Publication date: September 14, 2006Inventors: Tsang-Mao Lin, Jui-Tien Chen

Publication number: 20060201730Abstract: An electric four-wheel drive vehicle and a control unit for the same, which can be applied to cars of class having larger displacements than the class to which the electric four-wheel drive vehicle equipped with the DC motor is applied, without increasing the cost over that of the known mechanical four-wheel drive vehicle. Front wheels of the vehicle are driven by an engine, and rear wheels are driven by an AC motor. A generator is driven by a rotating force of the engine to output DC power. An inverter converts the DC power outputted from the generator to AC power. A control unit controls the generator such that energy Pm required for driving the AC motor is outputted from the generator.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2006Publication date: September 14, 2006Applicant: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Satoru Kaneko, Tatsuyuki Yamamoto, Masaru Ito, Hisaya Shimizu, Kenta Katsuhama

Publication number: 20060201731Abstract: An airbag for protecting a pedestrian or the like and an airbag device for protecting a pedestrian or the like including the airbag are disclosed. The airbag is quickly deployed to a predetermined deployment area without the use of a high output inflator and has a high absorption property of impact which is applied to the pedestrian or the like. In one form, an airbag for protecting a pedestrian or the like comprises a lower side portion provided so as to extend along a cowl top, left and right side portions and provided so as to extend along left and right A pillars, respectively, and an upper side portion connecting top portions of the left and right side portions. A horizontally central portion of the upper side portion is connected to the left and right side portions by small flow path cross-sectional portions.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2006Publication date: September 14, 2006Applicant: Takata CorporationInventor: Atsushi Nakamura

Publication number: 20060201732Abstract: A tractor has hydraulically driven wheels at a cab end and castor wheels at an engine end. It can be driven cab forward in a working mode with a header on the forward end. It is rotated to engine forward in the transport position for more stable higher speed travel. The driver's console is rotated in the cab with the steering and speed control elements moved with the seat for the driver to face forwards and its position is detected by switches. In the engine forward position for transportation, the control system detects the seat position and operates the controls for higher speed drive and to prevent operation of the header. A vehicle emblem SMV is located on the back of the driver's seat so that it is visible to a person behind regardless of the direction of travel.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2005Publication date: September 14, 2006Inventors: James Dunn, Don MacGregor, Brent Gabriel, Leonard Bergman

Publication number: 20060201733Abstract: A steer-by-wire steering system has a steering wheel actuator and a braking device that acts on the steering column. The braking device is activated when the vehicle steering wheel is to be blocked or at least sharply braked, such as when the steering stop is reached or a wheel goes over the edge of a curb. The braking device functions like a switchable freewheel.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2006Publication date: September 14, 2006Inventors: Peter Dominke, Chi-Thuan Cao, Wolfgang Pfeiffer, Klaus-Dieter Leimbach, Werner Harter, Jens Hafermalz, Helmut Knoedler, Wilfried Leutner, Juergen Schuele, Herbert Lohner

Publication number: 20060201734Abstract: A fluid pressure disturbance damping arrangement for a fluid-driven actuation device includes an actuator, a fluid pump, a fluid supply line for delivering fluid from the pump to the actuator at relatively high pressure and a fluid return line for delivering fluid from the actuator to the pump at relatively low pressure. The damping arrangement includes an elongate flexible damping hose in fluid communication with at least one of the supply and return lines. The hose includes a longitudinal axis and about the axis a peripheral wall defining, in a cross-sectional plane perpendicular to the axis, a non-circular area of magnitude related to pressure exerted on the peripheral wall by a contained fluid. The peripheral wall is responsive to impulsive or vibrational pressure disturbances in the contained fluid to deform and restore locally changing the shape of the cross-section area defined thereby to dissipate energy associated with the pressure disturbance.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2004Publication date: September 14, 2006Inventor: Kevin Hartle

Publication number: 20060201735Abstract: An apparatus (10) for use in turning steerable vehicle wheels (12,14) includes a connector member (28) which connects a first end portion (70) of the rack (66) with a first steerable vehicle wheel (14). A second end portion (72) of the rack (66) is spaced from the second steerable vehicle wheel (12) and is free of a connection with a member which extends between the second end portion of the rack and the second steerable vehicle wheel. A force transmitting member (32) extends between the steerable vehicle wheels (12,14) and extends through a hydraulic motor (42). Upon rotation of a steering wheel, a valve connected with a pinion gear (62) effects operation of the motor (42) to turn the steerable vehicle wheels (12,14).Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2005Publication date: September 14, 2006Inventors: Daniel Williams, Bob Johnson
