  • Patent number: 7128483
Abstract: A ribbon cassette includes a ribbon supply spool, and a ribbon take up spool that takes up an ink ribbon from the ribbon supply spool by rotating in a first rotation direction. The ribbon take up spool is provided with an engaging portion including first and second walls arranged in the second rotation direction in this order. The first wall is defined along a plane including a rotation axis of the ribbon take up spool. The second wall is inclined to face outside the ribbon take up spool. The ribbon cassette further includes an engaging member. The engaging member resiliently engages with the engaging portion by dropping into a space defined between the first and second walls and thereby prevents the ribbon take up spool from rotating in a second rotation direction opposite to the first rotation direction. The engaging member, however, comes off from the engaging portion when the ribbon take up spool rotates in the first direction.

  • Patent number: 7128485
Abstract: The applicator (1) for applying an oxidative hair dye to human hair, especially to hair strands, has two compartments or chambers (2,3) for a liquid oxidation dye and an oxidizing agent respectively. Both the oxidation dye and the oxidizing agent are dispensed together at a product-dispensing spot or area of the applicator. The compartments (2,3) are provided with respective product-dispensing openings (5,6), which open next to each other, so that a reactive dyeing mixture is provided only outside of the applicator, especially on human hair. For improve applicability liquid-permeable inserts (7,8) made of spongy material, bristles or fabric, especially felt, are provided in the product-dispensing openings (5,6), preferably protruding from them somewhat.

  • Patent number: 7128486
Abstract: A feeding container (1, 101, 301) for a stick-form cosmetic material (A, B, C) comprises a sleeve (10, 110, 310) which accommodates a tubular holder (31, 131, 331) holding the base end of the stick-form cosmetic material (A, B, C). By constituting the holder (31, 131, 331) by a thin film, an appropriate clearance can be set between the cosmetic material (A, B, C) and the inner periphery of the sleeve (10, 110, 310) without providing a step in the outer periphery of the cosmetic material (A, B, C). The form of an opening portion of the holder (31, 131, 331) is corrected by the inner periphery of the sleeve (10, 110, 310) when the holder (31, 131, 331) is inserted into the sleeve (10, 110, 310), so the cosmetic material (A, B, C) can be fitted easily into the holder (31, 131, 331) in the sleeve (10, 110, 310).

  • Patent number: 7128487
Abstract: In a mechanical pencil, the dispersion range of the diameter of a lead is allowable to a certain extent, but if by chance a lead having the maximum diameter is used the lead may not be delivered. This is because there is exceeded the allowable range of the elastic deformation of an elastic thin film, namely, a lead holding member. The mechanical pencil includes the lead holding member disposed in the neighborhood of the tip of a shaft tube, in which the exterior shape of the lead holding member is formed to be slightly smaller than the interior shape of the shaft tube in which the lead holding member is disposed, and an inner step portion for preventing the dropping of the lead holding member from the shaft tube is disposed in the front portion of the lead holding member.

  • Patent number: 7128488
Abstract: An instrument includes a holder for holding a medium, a cap capable of covering a tip end portion of the medium, and a knock member provided to be capable of knocking to attach and detach the cap. The cap is connected to the knock member via a rotational transform mechanism. The rotational transform mechanism advances the cap in accordance with one knock of the knock member in the axial direction, the rotational transform mechanism rotates the cap around an axis parallel to the axial direction, then retreats the cap, so that the state in which the cap covers the tip end portion of the medium and the state in which the cap allows the tip end portion of the medium to be exposed are switchable for each knock of the knock member.

  • Patent number: 7128496
Abstract: An adaptable barrier system protects a site of value that is adjacent to a trafficable surface, from impact by a vehicle. The system includes traffic patterns to reduce speed, followed by a first impact element that causes a vehicle to become elevated from the trafficable surface. A bed having a deformable structure or material beyond the first impact element lowers the elevation of a vehicle that encounters the bed. A cover overlies the compressible material to allow passage of pedestrians and lightweight vehicles. An impact element line beyond the bed has sufficient height to impact a chassis of the vehicle having an elevation that is lowered by the bed, and prevent further progress of the vehicle. The combination of the first impact element, the bed and the impact elements line may be reproportioned with respect to each other to provide a barrier intended to suit a particular application.

  • Patent number: 7128498
Abstract: In one application for containing and remediating contaminants in sediments, employing a geocomposite eliminates the need for a thick cap or removal and subsequent ex situ treatment of the sediment. A geocomposite with at least one layer of reactive material is placed over the area to be remediated. A layer of available surcharge materials such as sand, gravel, or riprap covers the geocomposite. The weight of the surcharge materials causes pore water to flow from the sediment through the reactive layer or layers. Contaminants may be trapped in this reactive layer or layers. A top or bottom layer, or both a top and bottom layer, may be provided to inhibit incursion from outside the sediment layer, while permitting appropriate flow direction of pore water into the reactive layer or layers.

Abstract: According to a method for transferring articles, the articles, in particular blister packs, are transferred to a feeding line of a packaging machine, moving continuously and longitudinally with respect to an outlet line of a machine producing the articles, on which the articles to be transferred are carried in line in a continuous way. According to the method, the articles leaving said outlet line, aligned and regularly spaced apart, are transferred onto support elements carried by a distributing unit aligned with the outlet line, above the feeding line. The support elements are selectively operated to release one by one said articles into respective holding pockets defined by the feeding line.

Abstract: A set of cooling air blowers for machines which require cooling air during operation. The blowers each include an outlet having an anti-reverse flow feature for preventing the flow of air into the blower from externally of the machine should the blower fail, thereby ensuring that the remaining operating blowers are able to maintain a normal and adequate flow of cooling air through the air inlet of the machine and outwardly through the outlets of the remaining operating blowers. Each blower generally includes a blower housing having an inlet, an outlet, and an internal cavity in which an impeller is rotatably disposed, the impeller driven by an electrical motor mounted within the blower housing.

Abstract: Throughflow openings are provided for a cooling medium in a coolable component. The throughflow opening comprises an insert that reduces the size of the first opening cross-section to a second opening cross-section, and that is released from the first opening if the second opening cross-section becomes blocked as a result of a local temperature rise and a thermally unstable joining between the insert and the component, being mounted in a first opening. The present throughflow opening greatly reduces the risk of damage to components to be cooled, in particular turbine blades, as a result of fine throughflow openings becoming blocked.

  • Patent number: 7128532
Abstract: A system for cooling a structure or mechanism through transpiration processes. Generally a porous structural material may be used to form a hot wall surface of a high temperature or high heat flux environment component, typically used in combustion type devices. Coolant pressurized on the “cold” or cooler side of the wall is bled, “sweated”, or otherwise transpired to the “hot” wall surface in an effort to control the hot wall surface temperature by shielding the surface with a coolant layer at the surface and by removing heat via coolant flow past the surface. This may be done to manage the hot wall temperature for structural purposes, more effectively manage high heat fluxes, or to hide thermal signatures. The porous material can be selectively made such that the coolant material flows substantially in one direction only through the porous material to transfer thermal energy only away from the structure rather than towards the structure.
