  • Patent number: 7168186
Abstract: A sole construction for supporting at least a portion of a human foot and for providing energy storage and return is provided. The sole construction includes a generally horizontal layer of stretchable material, at least one chamber positioned adjacent a first side of the layer, and at least one actuator positioned adjacent a second side of the layer vertically aligned with a corresponding chamber. Each actuator has a footprint size smaller than that of the corresponding chamber, and is sized and arranged to provide individual support to the bones of the human foot. The support structure when compressed causes the actuator to push against the layer and move the layer at least partially into the corresponding chamber. In one embodiment, dual action energy storage and rebound is provided by using a plurality of actuators that move both upwardly and downwardly into corresponding chambers.

  • Patent number: 7168191
Abstract: A hydraulic excavator is equipped with one or more downsizing scheme including at least one of: (i) a bubble removing device for removing bubbles in hydraulic fluid, (ii) a hydraulic tank including a main tank and a variable capacity tank arranged separately from each other, and (iii) a variable capacity tank or hydraulic tank which is fitted to the rear surface of the upper cover of the seat-side block. Thus, the lateral section of the seat can be ultimately downsized to provide a large space around the seat. Then, unlike the prior art, a canopy or a cab of a larger hydraulic excavator can be securely arranged on the upper swing body of a small hydraulic excavator. Since such large parts can be commonly used with large hydraulic excavators, it is possible to significantly reduce the cost of the hydraulic excavator.

  • Patent number: 7168208
Abstract: This invention relates to a safety guard designed and adapted for use on the corners of vehicle doors to protect passengers from accidental contact with the sharp corner of a vehicle door. The door guard is particularly well suited to cars with a “bubble-wrap” design, which results in the tops of the vehicle doors having sharp corners that may be less than ninety degrees. At least two plates, preferably triangular in shape and made of plastic or some other suitable material, are joined together on at least one side thereof and installed on a vehicle door to cover potentially hazardous sharp metallic corners of the vehicle door. The door guard may be affixed to the door using glue, or the plates of the door guard may have pre-drilled openings for screws to attach the door guard to the door. Variations in the thickness and shape of the plates may be necessary to conform to different vehicle types without interfering with the operation of the door.

  • Patent number: 7168209
Abstract: A coping system includes a cleat mountable on a wall, a splice plate mountable over the cleat and a coping cap mountable to the cleat that is held in place by a spring between the cleat and the coping cap. In general, both the cleat and the coping cap have approximately U-shape cross-sections. The ends of the coping cap turn inwardly to form hooks that catch the ends of the cleat. The spring urges the coping cap to retain the legs of the cleat in the hooks and thus hold the coping cap to the cleat and to the wall. The splice plate is held in place on the cleat by clips that extend from the cleat and through corresponding openings in the splice plate to engage portions of the splice plate adjacent the openings, thereby preventing the splice plate from moving away from the cleat.

  • Patent number: 7168223
Abstract: The present invention is a capsule-sealing machine that uses a heat-sealing process to apply sterile aluminum blank capsules on food or drink containers or cans, preferably cylindrical in shape but also square, rectangular or oval. The machine includes a conveyor belt that conveys cans to the machine, a loading carousel, a main carousel, where the blank capsules or can covers are sealed onto the cans, an unloading carousel, and an outfeed conveyor belt. The blank capsules are contained in vertical capsule magazines. A series of suction cups removes the blank capsules from the magazines and passes them to another series of suction cups located inside sealing heads of the main carousel. In the main carousel, the cans are raised by the elevating units and come into contact first with the blank capsules and then with the corresponding sealing head.

  • Patent number: 7168226
Abstract: A hydraulic lift/flotation system for the header of a crop harvesting machine wherein each side of the header is supported by a single cylinder, which performs both the flotation and lift functions. For even lifting and flotation of an unbalanced header, each cylinder has its own control valve, pump, and accumulator. The operator sets the desired flotation force by actuating rocker switches; one switch position allows hydraulic oil to enter an accumulator to reduce header contact force with the ground. The other position allows oil to exit the accumulator to increase header contact force with the ground. To evenly float an unbalanced header, separate switches adjust each side independently. Once the flotation forces are set, the control valves will return to this preset flotation condition whenever float mode is selected, regardless of subsequent header lift and lower operations.

  • Patent number: 7168230
Abstract: An apparatus for gathering, picking up and carrying loose materials such as dirt, leaves, debris, trash, hay, ice, snow and other materials or objects consists of two grasping elements which each have shafts with grasping devices or heads at one end, and a coupling which joins their shafts. The grasping elements can be commercially available rakes or shovels. Loose materials are gathered and picked up by placing one hand on the shaft of each grasping element and drawing the heads together. The coupling is flexible and can be moved along the shafts of the grasping elements to change the manner in which the elements function together. When the coupling is positioned at the end near the grasping heads, the apparatus functions in the manner of a post hole digger. When it is positioned near the middle or far end of the shafts, the apparatus functions in the manner of rake tongs or tweezers tongs.

  • Patent number: 7168235
Abstract: The present invention comprises a highly supercharged, regenerative gas-turbine system. The gas turbine comprises a compressor, a regenerator, a combustor, and an expander. A pre-compressor pressurizes air going into the compressor section of the gas turbine. A cooler lowers the temperature of the air going into the compressor. The compressor pressurizes air, which then flows through the regenerator, which heats the air before it enters the combustor. The combustor further heats the air which then flows through the expander and then the regenerator. A post-expander is preferably located downstream of the regenerator. The post-expander is a second expander that receives high-pressure gas exiting the regenerator. The post-expander preferably drives the pre-compressor. The preferred pre-compressor and post-expander are toroidal intersecting vane machines (TIVMs), which are positive-displacement rotary devices. Numerous alternated embodiments of this basic system are described.
