  • Patent number: 7188017
Abstract: In a motor vehicle driveline having an automatic transmission driveably connected to a transfer case whose output is continually connected to a first output, a clutch, selectively engaged in response to a control signal, driveably connects a second output to the first output. A digital computer continually monitors the occurrence of a change of clutch slip, input torque and a torque rate change to control the torque transmitted by the clutch to the second output. The control causes the clutch to transmit torque to the second output having a constant fraction of the input clutch torque and another portion that is proportional to the clutch slip. This result simulates the torque slip characteristics produced by transfer case having both a center differential mechanism and a viscous clutch.

  • Patent number: 7188018
Abstract: In the case of a control device for an at least partially four-wheel-driven motor vehicle, having a control unit which can variably distribute the driving torque of a drive unit to primary driving wheels, which are permanently connected with the drive unit, and to secondary driving wheels, which, if required, can be connected by way of a transfer clutch with the drive unit, wherein the control unit determines a desired clutch torque which is to be set by an actuator device at the transfer clutch. The control unit is further configured such that, when the desired clutch torque is determined, at least one degree of stress to the transfer clutch and/or at least one degree of stress to the actuator device are taken into account. In this case, the taking into account of a short-duration degree of stress to the transfer clutch is particularly important with a view to a closing which is as fast as possible for preventing a slip.

  • Patent number: 7188040
Abstract: When a voltage applied to an output terminal exceeds a power source voltage to be supplied during an ordinary operation state, a reset signal turns into L level and the operation mode of a sensor goes into a trimming operation mode. The voltage entered into the output terminal is changed in a voltage range higher that the power source voltage to input trimming data with a data signal having L or H level. The entered trimming data is temporarily held by a latch and then written into a memory in response to a write voltage applied to a power source terminal in a write mode. Then, the trimming data held by the latch or the trimming data stored in the memory can be read out as a change in the sink current of the output terminal when a read mode is set.

A support vector machine is used to generate an improved representation of historical training data from power generation equipment that facilitates a more accurate determination of the boundary between measurements that should be considered faults and those that represent normal operating conditions. The SVM receives data collected from a plurality of independent sensors associated with the power generating equipment in order to generate a boundary substantially separating a first class of data (e.g., a fault) from a second class of data (e.g., a normal operating condition) in a support vector machine feature space. Elements of operational data are collected and compared to the boundary generated from historical training data. A determination is then made whether the element of operational data is in a particular class, such as a class associated with out-of-range conditions.

  • Patent number: 7188052
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer instructions for application based tracing and for normalization of processor clocks in a symmetric multiprocessor environment. By deliberately establishing a large skew among processor clocks, it is possible to perform application based tracing by directly using the processors. In addition, the identity, time stamp, and drift information of each processor may be used to create a time library. The time library is used to adjust a measured time to execute a program or software routine. The adjusted time is a normalized time that is statistically more accurate than the measured time alone. The adjusted time is then reported as the time to execute the program or software routine.

  • Patent number: 7188053
Abstract: A method, computer program, and system for real-time signal analysis providing characterization of temporally-evolving densities and distributions of signal features of arbitrary-type signals in a moving time window by tracking output of order statistic filters (also known as percentile, quantile, or rank-order filters). Given a raw input signal of arbitrary type, origin, or scale, the present invention enables automated quantification and detection of changes in the distribution of any set of quantifiable features of that signal as they occur in time. Furthermore, the present invention's ability to rapidly and accurately detect changes in certain features of an input signal can also enable prediction in cases where the detected changes associated with an increased likelihood of future signal changes.

  • Patent number: 7188055
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for visualizing and interactively analyzing data relating to chemical compounds. A user selects a plurality of compounds to map, and also selects a method for evaluating similarity/dissimilarity between the selected compounds. A non-linear map is generated in accordance with the selected compounds and the selected method. The non-linear map has a point for each of the selected compounds, wherein a distance between any two points is representative of similarity/dissimilarity between the corresponding compounds. A portion of the non-linear map is then displayed. Users are enabled to interactively analyze compounds represented in the non-linear map.

Abstract: A computer system for designing rail systems including a database engine, a simulation engine, and a 3-dimensional graphics engine. A user stores attributes for a proposed transit system such as track segment data, signaling and switching data, and train configuration data into the database engine. The simulation engine accesses and processes this data to simulate various aspects of the system. During simulation or separately, a 3-dimensional graphics engine accesses and processes this same data from the database engine to visually present a user with a real-time, 3-dimensional rendering of the proposed rail system in use. The computer system may also include a reports engine for reporting to the user information related to the proposed rail system or simulation.

  • Patent number: 7188060
Abstract: A method and apparatus for emulating a high-precision, high-accuracy clock. In one embodiment, two clocks are used in the emulation. The first clock has precision greater than precision of the second clock and accuracy less than accuracy of the second clock. A checkpoint time relative to elapsed cycles of the second clock and a checkpoint cycle count of cycles of the first clock are periodically stored relative to a checkpoint period that lasts for a selected number of cycles of the second clock. A reference cycle rate of the first clock is calculated relative to the cycle rate of the second clock. The current time is determined as a function of the checkpoint time, a number of cycles of the first clock elapsed since storing the most recent checkpoint cycle count, and the reference cycle rate of the first clock.

  • Patent number: 7188063
Abstract: A method for obtaining real-time debug information, e.g., state information and trace information, from an FPGA acting as a virtual microcontroller that is attached to a microcontroller under test. The two devices, the microcontroller and the FPGA execute the same instructions in lock-step with the FPGA acting as an emulator. The FPGA emulates the actual microcontroller and relieves the actual microcontroller from having debug logic installed thereon. FPGA and microcontroller, are coupled using a four pin interface. The FPGA is directly coupled to the PC for both programming and control. The system is implemented such that the microcontroller forwards information regarding I/O reads, interrupt vector information and watchdog information to the FPGA in time before the execution of the next instruction. Thus, the FPGA has an exact copy of the state information of the microcontroller.
