  • Patent number: 7191705
Abstract: In a method and device to generate a print image on a carrier material, a surface of a print carrier is coated with a layer which is one of ink-repelling and ink-attracting. In the structuring process, ink-attracting regions and ink-repelling regions are generated. Ink that adheres to the ink-attracting regions and that is not absorbed by the ink-repelling regions is applied on the surface. The applied ink is transferred onto the carrier material. Before a new structure process on the same surface of the print carrier, the surface is cleaned and recoated with said layer. Before the application of said layer, a wetting-aiding substance is applied with a molecular layer thickness. A surfactant with hydrophilic molecule sections is used as the wetting-aiding substance.

  • Patent number: 7191710
Abstract: One or more magnetic levitation vehicles are provided to transport a storage mass over a magnetic levitation guideway extending between an elevated upper end and a lower end at a lower elevation, and including a plurality of magnetic propulsion windings. Movement of a magnetic levitation vehicle with the storage mass along the magnetic levitation guideway from the elevated upper end to the lower end generates electrical energy through the propulsion windings of the magnetic levitation guideway. The magnetic levitation vehicle with a storage mass can be propelled from the lower end to the upper end of the magnetic levitation guideway, where the storage mass is unloaded to store gravitational potential energy. The magnetic levitation vehicle and storage mass can then be moved to the lower end of the magnetic levitation guideway to convert the stored gravitational potential energy to electrical power.

  • Patent number: 7191718
Abstract: A quilting machine has at least one needle and looper set for forming chain-stitched patterns on a thick multilayered material such as a mattress ticking, preferably a panel of the continuous web clamped stationary on a frame. The stitch forming elements are mounted on separate heads that move independently transversely relative to the panel on a bridge that moves longitudinally relative to the panel. The bridge is longitudinally moved by a servo and the heads are transversely moved on the bridge by separate linear servos. The needle and looper are each driven by a linear servo having an armature to which the element is directly fixed to reciprocate without intervening mechanical linkage assemblies. A controller drives the servos to chain-stitch patterns, differentially move the heads transversely to account for transverse needle deflection and to phase the needle and looper to compensate for longitudinal needle deflection.

  • Patent number: 7191735
Abstract: The present invention provides a high voltage pulse generator used for deterring animals where the high voltage pulses are delivered to the animal through an electrical conductor that lays directly on the ground and is not insulated from the underlying ground system. The invention's high voltage pulse generator has a predetermined output impedance that is significantly lower than the impedance of an animal that may contact either the device's output or a conductor laying on the ground that is connected to the devices output. The invention's high voltage pulse generator also has a predetermined output impedance that is lower than the impedance of extremely long conductors in contact with the underlying ground system. This significantly low output impedance allows the device to deliver maximum output energy to the conductor in contact with the underlying ground system while maintaining high voltage and adequate energy levels to deliver an effective shock for deterring animals.

  • Patent number: 7191736
Abstract: A power generator provides power with minimal CO2, NOx, CO, CH4, and particulate emissions and substantially greater efficiency as compared to traditional power generation techniques. Specifically nitrogen is removed from the combustion cycle, either being replaced by a noble gas as a working gas in a combustion engine. The noble gas is supplemented with oxygen and fuel, to provide a combustion environment substantially free of nitrogen or alternatively working in 100% oxygen-fuel combustion environments. Upon combustion, Very little to no nitrogen is present, and thus there is little production of NOx compounds. Additionally, the exhaust constituents are used in the production of power through work exerted upon expansion of the exhaust products, and the exhaust products are separated into their constituents of noble gas, water and carbon dioxide.

Abstract: A cooling block forming a top wall of a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine is formed by layering, from the outside to the inside, a casing, an upper layer block, a middle layer block, and a lower layer block. Labyrinth-shaped cooling water passages are formed on upper side faces of the three layers of blocks, and cooling water supplied from a cooling water supply passage flows from the cooling water passage on the side far from the combustion chamber to the cooling water passage on the side close to the combustion chamber, and is discharged from a cooling water discharge passage. Since the cooling water flows in a direction opposite to the direction of emission of heat of combustion from the combustion chamber, it is possible to ensure that there is sufficient difference in temperature between a cylinder head and the cooling water throughout the cooling water passages.

Abstract: In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to an internal combustion engine having an engine block defining at least one cylinder and a head connected with said engine block. The head has an air intake port and an exhaust port. The internal combustion engine also has a piston and a combustion chamber. The internal combustion engine further has an air intake valve movable to open and close the air intake port and an air supply system having at least one turbocharger fluidly connected to the air intake port. The internal combustion engine additionally has a fuel supply system operable to inject fuel into the combustion chamber, a cam assembly selectively mechanically linked to the air intake valve to move the air intake valve, and an electromagnetic actuator configured to decouple the cam assembly from the air intake valve and control movement of the air intake valve.

  • Patent number: 7191744
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for controlling a closing operation of an exhaust valve (11) in an internal combustion engine. A current position X0 of the exhaust valve (11) and a rotation speed Ne of the internal combustion engine are determined, and on the basis of the current position X0 and rotation speed Ne, a time T0 at which a piston arrives at the current position X0 of the exhaust valve (11) is calculated. The closing operation of the exhaust valve (11) is then started before this arrival time T0. Next, a time T1 at which the gap between the exhaust valve (11) and piston reaches a first predetermined value hc1 is calculated, and when this time T1 arrives, the closing operation of the exhaust valve (11) is stopped temporarily. A time T2 at which the piston arrives at the stopping position X1 of the exhaust valve (11) is then calculated, and the closing operation of the exhaust valve (11) is resumed before this arrival time T2.

Abstract: An engine start control apparatus includes a crank angle sensor, and a stroke discrimination device that discriminates which of engine cylinders is in intake or compression strokes in an engine stopped state. A crankshaft is temporarily reverse-rotated in a reverse-rotational direction by way of crankshaft reverse-rotation control until an intake valve becomes shifted from a valve closed state to a valve open state, when cranking the engine for startup under a specific condition where a crankangle of an engine cylinder whose piston stroke is in the intake stroke or in the compression stroke, is within a specified crankangle range from 40 degrees of crankangle before a piston B.D.C. position to 40 degrees of crankangle after the piston B.D.C. position. The crankshaft is rotated in a normal-rotational direction by way of crankshaft normal-rotation control after the intake valve has been shifted to the valve open state.

  • Patent number: 7191749
Abstract: Laser welding of plastic involves a laser passing through laser translucent then laser absorbent material. A technical description as envisaged here is Laser Contour Welding. Universally, laser welding is done by Quasi simultaneous techniques and rarely by Contour techniques. Regular or symmetrical parts, under 5 inches are welded by Quasi simultaneous. Asymmetric and large parts are best welded by Contour Welding. Kinematics of robots permits a complex contour. Automotive plastic manifolds exceed 5 inches with asymmetry. The pairing of robot contour and laser welding facilitates a new Automotive manifold. It requires a new split line for laser access and manufacturing as described. Encompassing the above requirements and solutions can reduce the moldings for a V8 to 2 major operations.
