Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for joining of composites with thermoplastic surfaces. The process includes the location of the said components within a load bearing frame, and bringing the thermoplastic surfaces to be joined into contact. Pressure application devices, in the form of fluid filled bladders, are also located within the frame, and are located such that pressure is applied evenly to said thermoplastic surfaces. Where components have a high level of curve or twist, form blocks that have the approximate shape of the component surface are located between the frame and bladders. Pressure and heat are applied to the joint area, and heat removed while the joint area is maintained under some pressure. A feature of the present invention is the option of using opposing pressure application devices, reducing the need for substantial tooling in order to maintain component location accuracy.

An adhesive-bonded body 1 includes a pair of pieces 2 bonded together and an adhesive layer 4. The adhesive layer 4 bonds the pair of pieces 2 to each other. Ultrasonic vibration is applied to the adhesive-bonded body 1 which is put between a tool horn 6 and an anvil 7 of an ultrasonic vibration applying device 3. The ultrasonic vibration is generated by applying a voltage to a piezoelectric vibrator 5 and vibrates the tool horn 6. The tool horn 6 vibrates ultrasonically together with one piece 2. Abstract: An isolative substrate edge area processing method and apparatus is described. The apparatus has an isolator for isolating and processing by dry chemical technique a portion of a substrate including a substrate edge region. The isolator has nozzles for directing a flow of reactive species towards the edge area of the substrate and a purge plenum for biasing flow of reactive species towards an exhaust plenum while the substrate rotates on a chuck. Tuned flow control prevents migration of reactive species and reaction byproducts out of the processing area. A method for processing a substrate with the isolator involves directing a flow of reactive species at an angle towards an edge area of the substrate while forming a boundary around the processing area with flow control provided by the purge plenum, and exhaust plenum.

Abstract: A difficulty has been given, that is, in a condition that an electrostatic chuck having an oxide layer as a dielectric layer is set in catalytic chemical vapor deposition apparatus, as a silicon thin film is repeatedly deposited on a workpiece held by the electrostatic chuck, adsorbing power of the electrostatic chuck is gradually decreased, and finally the chuck does not adsorb a substrate at all. Thus, a dielectric layer on a surface of the electrostatic chuck is covered with an insulating film containing silicon nitride or silicon oxide. Thus, since damage to a chuck surface can be prevented, the damage being due to hydrogen radicals generated during depositing the silicon film by the catalytic chemical vapor deposition apparatus, even if the silicon film is repeatedly deposited, power for adsorbing the substrate is not decreased, and consequently substrate temperature is stabilized during depositing the silicon film.

Abstract: A heat dissipating system includes: a heat sink adapted to be connected to an electronic device; a coolant reservoir adapted for storing a coolant therein; a driving mechanism; a cooling mechanism; a coolant circulating conduit connected to the coolant reservoir, the cooling mechanism, the heat sink, and the driving mechanism such that the driving mechanism drives circulation of the coolant in the coolant circulating conduit; and a pressure stabilizing mechanism including a bypass connected to the coolant reservoir and the coolant circulating conduit at a position downstream of the driving mechanism, and a valve. The valve is opened when the pressure inside the coolant circulating conduit exceeds a predetermined value, thereby permitting fluid communication between the coolant reservoir and the coolant circulating conduit through the bypass.

Abstract: A heat exchanger having excellent heat exchanging performance is obtainable by a simple production technique and at a low cost. This is achieved by providing a fin member and by increasing heat conductivity between the fin member and a meandering pipe body. Further, the heat exchanger is made compact for high degrees of layout freedom, enabling the heat exchanger to be installed in a tight space. Engagement grooves are provided in both end surfaces, which are opposite to each other, of a fin member in which fins are parallel arranged. Straight pipe sections are parallelly arranged, with gaps in between, in the engagement grooves of the fin member. The straight pipe sections a are connected at bent sections. A pair of meandering sections is arranged opposite to each other with an insertion gap of the fin member in between. On of the meandering sections and the other meandering section are connected by a connection pipe to form a meandering pipe main body.

Abstract: The object of this invention is to improve the distribution of coolant flowing at a very low flow rate and achieve uniformity in the output air temperature while ensuring that the structure does not create excessive resistance against the coolant flow at a high flow rate. A heat exchanger 1 includes at least a plurality of tubes 2 and an upper tank 4 communicating with an upper end portion of a tube group formed by the tubes 2 so as to distribute coolant along the up/down direction. The coolant flows in through an inflow port 9 located at the upper tank 4 in the heat exchanger 1. An open-top coolant intake guide passage 25 is disposed at the inflow port 9 and the coolant intake guide passage 25 is thus inserted at the upper tank 4.
