  • Patent number: 7222656
Abstract: In a method of making a window covering material a plurality of slats preferably made of fabric or plastic film, are provided. Each slat has opposite longitudinal edges and each longitudinal edge has a pocket with at least one transverse slot. There is one rail for each transverse slot in any selected slat. Each rail has a loop extending from the rail which loop is sized to fit within a selected transverse slot in a slat pocket. The fabric slats and the rails are positioned so that there is one loop in each transverse slot. Then a rod is inserted into each pocket of the fabric slat so that for each pocket the rod passes through the loop in each transverse slot of that pocket. If desired, one may attach a light screening flap to one or both longitudinal edges of the slats.

  • Patent number: 7222658
Abstract: A die cavity of a casting die, such as for continuously casting billets, blooms and blanks. The die cavity has a cross-section with a partially curved peripheral line, whereby, with the cavity walls cooled, provides improved heat exchange between a forming strand shell and the die cavity wall, thus avoiding solidification defects in the strand shell. The degree of curvature 1/R is reduced at least on part of the curved peripheral line of the corner regions from peripheral lines of the same corner regions, that are successive in the casting direction, and at least over part of the length of the die, in the concave corner regions of the die cavity, in order to control the targeted closure of the gap between the strand shell and the cooled die cavity, or a targeted strand shell deformation.

  • Patent number: 7222661
Abstract: A cooling module includes a thermal conductive member. An endoergic chamber, a radiative chamber and a circulation pump chamber are defined along the thermal conductive member. The thermal conductive member contacts a heat generating object outside the endoergic chamber. The thermal energy is transferred to the coolant in the endoergic chamber. The coolant then flows into the radiative chamber. The thermal energy of the coolant is taken away in the radiative chamber. The thermal energy is radiated from the outer wall surface of the radiative chamber. This cooling cycle is repeated so that an efficient cooling operation can be realized in the cooling module. Arrangement of the endoergic, radiative and circulation pump chambers along the thermal conductive member leads to a minimized height of the cooling module.

  • Patent number: 7222664
Abstract: The heat exchanger plates have the section shown, with raised sections on the upper and lower faces in which run the flow pipes of one of the fluids. Notches are created on the longitudinal ends to allow these pipes to communicate, their supply and evacuation from a lateral face of the plate, whereas the other fluid enters and leaves via the longitudinal faces. The exchanger is therefore easier to make. The plates are manufactured by extrusions and only machined to create the notches.

Abstract: When a variation amount of a driving operation falls outside of a determining reference, a determining system determines that an awakening degree of a driver is decreased. The determining system changes the determining reference by whether or not a preceding vehicle is existing within a given distance. Therefore, in consideration of peripheral traffic environments such as existence and absence of the preceding vehicle, the awakening degree of the driver is determined, so that determining accuracy of the awakening degree is enhanced more than that of a conventional method.

Abstract: The present invention provides a hydraulic control valve and a power steering apparatus using the same in which chamfer portions are provided only on throttle portions between oil supply chambers and first oil feed chambers and between the oil supply chambers and second oil feed chambers, or only throttle portions between oil discharge chambers 11 and the first oil feed chambers and between the oil discharge chambers 11 and the second oil feed chambers. With this design, even if six or more oil grooves of each of a valve body and a valve spool are disposed at equal distances from one another, when the minimum flow rate to be controlled is reduced as small as possible, a distribution amount for one portion where the flow rate is controlled can be doubled as compared with a conventional structure, it is possible to stabilize the hydraulic characteristics in a region where the flow rate to be controlled is minimum, and to eliminate the discontinuity of the hydraulic characteristics.

Abstract: An electric power steering control unit is provided which is capable of detecting a motor current stably irrespective of a temperature variation to improve steering feelings. In this control unit, a temperature detecting circuit located in the vicinity of a motor current detecting circuit detects the motor current detecting circuit, and a CPU makes reference to output characteristic data on motor current detection output to temperature detection output stored in an EEPROM to correct the motor current detection output on the basis of the temperature detection output so that the motor current detection output corrected reaches a target current value to a motor driving circuit, thus driving an electric motor which operates a steering mechanism secondarily.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for testing the condition of the brakes of an elevator. In the method, a test weight is set to apply to the drive machine of the elevator, by means of which weight a first torque required for driving the elevator car in the upward direction is measured. At least one of the brakes of the elevator is closed. Next, the empty elevator car is driven in the upward direction with the force of the aforesaid first torque and a check is carried out to detect movement of the elevator car. If a movement of the elevator car is detected, then the aforesaid at least one brake of the elevator is regarded as defective. The method of the present invention makes it possible to check the operativeness of the brakes of the elevator without separate maintenance visits.

A camming device operably couples the output shaft to a drive shaft for fixed rotation. A one-way clutch operably couples the drive shaft and a brake device. The brake device is normally in an engaged position that prevents rotation of the clutch device. During a holding maneuver, the one-way clutch, camming device, and brake device cooperate to prevent uncommanded movement. However, the nature of the one-way clutch permits free rotation during a power-in direction and the nature of the camming device permits free rotation during a power-out direction.
