In one embodiment of the stack, at least one illumination unit comprises an LED and second reflector of one illumination unit and a first reflector of an adjacent illumination unit in the stack of illumination units.

    Abstract: A print head and a detector are mounted on a carriage of a serial printer. An information acquiring portion acquires information for determining whether to detect a print medium. An existence-detection determining portion determines whether to detect existence of the print medium based on the information acquired by the information acquiring portion. An existence-detection controlling portion controls, when the existence-detection determining portion determines that detection should be performed, the carriage to move to a position at which the detector confronts a print-medium conveying path and controls the detector to detect the existence of the print medium prior to printing. A print controlling portion controls the print head and the carriage to print the image based on the print data. The print controlling portion prohibits the print head and the carriage from printing the image based on the print data when the detector detects no print medium.

The press lever presses the head portion against the platen roller with a predetermined pressing force when the press lever is pivoted. The first side panel has a groove that supports the press lever. The groove has a first wall portion on which the press lever abuts from a direction of the reaction force of the pressing force. The sublimation printer does not get deformed after repeated use, and therefore can generate the predetermined pressing force in a stable manner.

    Abstract: A joint assembly comprises a hollow extrusion member of an asymmetrical hexagonal section and a flange casting comprising a base flange and several webs including a top web and upper side webs which have joint faces presented to corresponding joint areas on the outside of the extrusion while a bottom web and lower side webs have joint faces which are presented to corresponding joint areas on the inside of the extrusion. To assemble the joint assembly an adhesive is applied to the joint faces and the extrusion aligned with the flange casting but offset vertically. The extrusion is then moved longitudinally towards the flange casting to the full extent permitted by abutment of an extrusion end face with steps to bring the joint faces into overlapping alignment with the corresponding joint areas on the extrusion, there being a substantial clearance due to the vertical offset so that the adhesive on the joint faces does not contact the joint areas on the extrusion at this stage.
