Abstract: Methods for cleaning semiconductor processing chambers used to process carbon-containing films, such as amorphous carbon films, barrier films comprising silicon and carbon, and low dielectric constant films including silicon, oxygen, and carbon are provided. The methods include using a remote plasma source to generate reactive species that clean interior surfaces of a processing chamber in the absence of RF power in the chamber. The reactive species are generated from an oxygen-containing gas, such as O2, and/or a halogen-containing gas, such as NF3. An oxygen-based ashing process may also be used to remove carbon deposits from the interior surfaces of the chamber before the chamber is exposed to the reactive species from the remote plasma source.

Abstract: A plasma processing is performed by providing a first and a second electrodes to be relatively parallelly movable, disposing an object to be processed on the second electrode so as to face the first electrode and providing a blocking member to both end portions of the second electrode, so that a plasma processing space is blocked by the blocking member when the first and second electrodes are moved relatively with each other. A voltage is applied to both the first and the second electrodes and a process gas is introduced into the plasma processing space formed between the first and second electrodes, and the plasma is irradiated to the object. The blocking member is provided so as to extend from the second electrode to the first electrode, and an upper surface of the blocking member is raised higher than a surface level of the object to be processed.

Abstract: The described invention is an unique universal ink jet media. The invention incorporates a unique barrier layer based upon UV or EB curable chemistry which replaces common polyethylene extruded bases. The invention also incorporates multiple ink receptive layers. The first layer is based upon gelatin and/or polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) chemistries and gives the invention excellent ink drytime. Poor drytime is a common problem which leads to smudging and print defects, especially as ink jet printer speeds increase as technology improves. The high ink absorbency of the invention also makes this media well suited for wide format ink jet printers. The next ink receptive layer(s) are based upon pigmented, cellulose chemistry which reduces the tack of the sheet and gives the sheet good waterfastness. This is important for the end use in that the sheet may be frequently handled and exposed to dampness.

Abstract: The present mat has a textile upper surface that has been thermally modified in a patternwise arrangement, such that the patterned areas have an abrasive feel ideal for scraping dirt from footwear. Such abrasive feel, or harsh hand, is due to the thermal modification of the heat-treated yarns, which may result in fibers having a clubbed end or, in extreme cases, a ball of re-melted polymer on the end of a fiber stalk or fiber. The yarns may be “thermally modified” by shrinking (in which the filaments decrease in size longitudinally, but are still recognizable as separate filaments) and melting (in which the yarns are heated beyond their glass transition point, become molten, and, when cooled, produce a fused yarn bundle). Attached to textile upper surface 10 is a flexible and durable backing material (e.g., 6).

Abstract: A polymeric composite useful for producing large shaped articles such as railroad crossties comprises a filler component having minimal reinforcing/structural characteristics; and a polymer blend including at least one polymeric stiffening component, at least one polymeric density component, and at least one polymeric flexibility component. The polymer blend can include post-consumer recycled thermoplastic polymers. To produce the composite, a multistage extruder brings a blend of polymer and filler materials to an extrudable threshold without completely liquefying the polymer blend. The extruded blend is cooled within a mold to form a shaped article such as a recycled composite crosstie. Exemplary recycled composite mixtures may include composite polymer materials, such as, polypropylene, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (HMW), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), ABS, Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), and combinations of these polymers.

Abstract: A fabric consisting of a cellulose mixed ester fiber having an appropriate strength, fiber diameter, uniformity of fineness, and Tg, is used. A fiber consisting of 80 to 95 wt % of said cellulose mixed ester and 5 to 20 wt % of one or more water-soluble plasticizers selected from the group of polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, poly(ethylene-propylene) glycol, and end-capped polymers produced from them, is produced and said water-soluble plasticizers are removed by aqueous treatment to improve the heat resistance and strength, thereby providing a fabric having beautiful appearance achieved by color development properties and uniform fineness.

Abstract: Moldable capsules of a conductive loaded resin-based material are created. The moldable capsules comprise a conductive element core radially surrounded by a resin-based material. The conductive loaded resin-based material comprises micron conductive powder(s), conductive fiber(s), or a combination of conductive powder and conductive fibers in a base resin host. The conductive element core comprises between about 20% and about 50% of the total weight of the moldable capsule in one embodiment, between about 20% and about 40% in another embodiment, between about 25% and about 35% in another embodiment, and about 30% in another embodiment. The micron conductive powders are formed from non-metals, that may also be metallic plated, or from metals, that may also be metallic plated, or from a combination of non-metal, plated, or in combination with, metal powders. The micron conductor fibers preferably are of nickel plated carbon fiber, stainless steel fiber, copper fiber, silver fiber, or the like.

Abstract: A seat cushion or other resilient structure includes a foam inner core combined with layers of varying density fiber batts to impart desirable comfort characteristics, support features and durability thereto. In one embodiment, the foam core is positioned between intermediate layers of low loft fiber batts of relatively high densities. In turn, the intermediate batts are sandwiched between outer high loft fiber batts having relatively low densities. Alternately, the foam core comprises one or more intermediate layers of relatively high density fiber batts that are positioned within the foam core to create one or more fiber batt subcores. The outer high loft fiber batts sandwich the foam core comprising the fiber batt subcores to create the resilient structure.

Abstract: A diamond-like carbon film (DLC film) is formed on the surface of a base material made of an inorganic material, such as ceramics, or the like, or an organic material, such as resin, or the like. The surface of the resultant DLC film is treated with plasma, or the like, so as to be activated. Various monomers having biocompatibility, etc., are graft-polymerized to the activated surface of the DLC film, whereby a polymer layer is formed from the monomers grafted to the surface of the DLC film. Thus, the base material coated with the DLC film modified with a polymer which does not readily separate can be realized.
