Patent number: RE39827Abstract: A measuring vessel has cavity-defining wall structures and at least one ramp which rises from about the bottom of the wall structure toward the top of the wall structure. The at least one ramp has an upwardly directed surface with a lateral inner edge integral with portions of the wall structure below the ramp and a lateral outer edge integral with portions of the wall structure below the ramp. Indicia on the upwardly directed surface of the at least one ramp allows a user to look downwardly into the measuring vessel to visually detect the volume level of the contents in the vessel, thereby eliminating the need to look horizontally at the vessel at eye level. Preferably the vessel has two ramps, with at least one bearing indicia of standard English units, and another bearing indicia of metric units.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2003Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Helen of Troy LimitedInventors: Michael G. Patent number: RE39828Abstract: An improved convection/impingement oven for continuously cooking food. The oven has a wire link type belt which moves through an elongated cooking chamber. Hot air is blown on the upper surface of the food to be cooked. A separately controlled hot air source is blown on the lower surface of the food. Hot air impingement units are placed along the length of the oven and the cooking vapors are not recirculated but instead pass along the elongated cooking chamber and are exhausted at the end. Preferably a color development and sealing section has upper and lower burners which heat the food and the heat from these burners also pass the entire length of the cooking chamber before being exhausted. Also preferably steam or a water spray is used to regulate the humidity and this may be regulated in several different sections of the cooking chamber.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2003Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Inventors: R. Patent number: RE39829Abstract: A system for correlating secondary surveillance radar (SSR) data and ACARS data which results in a real time correlation of data which are unique to the separate existing systems. More specifically, a method is provided to attach flight identification data from ACARS signals to real time SSR data from Mode S transponders. Aircraft Mode S addresses are decoded and then converted to aircraft registration numbers using an algorithm or lookup table. Registration numbers are then correlated with registration numbers from decoded ACARS signals. The result is a real-time system which may provide an aircraft's registration information, including registration number, owner, make, and model, as well as its current flight identification number, and ACARS messages. As part of an aircraft multilateration system, the system provides an independent air traffic control picture complete with aircraft position and identification by flight number without the use of active radar equipment.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 2003Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Randolph CorporationInventors: Alexander E. Patent number: RE39830Abstract: A method and apparatus for recording and playback of multidimensional walkthrough narratives. A three dimensional modeling language is used to automatically create a simple three-dimensional environment using pre-existing electronic documents. A first user, or author may navigate throughout the three-dimensional environment while at the same time recording the path taken and any accompanying audio. In one of two playback modes, a second user can be shown a “walkthrough” of the three-dimensional scene corresponding to the path taken by the author. In the other playback mode, a second user is free to navigate the three-dimensional world while the author's path is displayed.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2004Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Ricoh Co., Ltd.Inventor: Marko Balabanovic

Patent number: RE39831Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for providing positional information of a disk. The disk has at least one side with a plurality of tracks, each having a first burst in a first servo field and a second burst in a second servo field. The first burst provides a first portion of track position information while the second burst provides a second portion of track position information. When combined, the first and second portions provide a position of a corresponding track. Each track further includes a third and a fourth burst that provides a first portion and a second portion of disk side position information. When combined, the first and second portions of disk side position information provide the disk side position of the disk. Each track also includes a burst that provides the quadrant position of the disk.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2002Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Me Van Le, William E. Patent number: RE39832Abstract: In carrying out PWM-recording on optical disks, RESYNC BYTES including a bit compensation part, RESYNC detection part, and bit synchronization part are periodically inserted in the recorded data code stream. After encoding and at the time of decoding, RESYNC BYTES are detected by detection of the RESYNC detection part. The decoder is initialized by detecting the position of the bit synchronization part, and decoding is performed satisfactorily free from error. With this configuration, even for synchronization bytes having a comparatively long portion of consecutive code values, bit resynchronization is enabled free from mis-detection caused by peak shift. Even with the recording and reproducing characteristics with an un-symmetrical unerased area of the mark and space parts, the RESYNC detection part is fixed to either mark or space and RESYNC BYTES with little influence on an unerased area can be realized.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2002Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshiyuki Shimada, Takeshi Nakajima

Patent number: RE39834Abstract: A contouring device and method for contouring three-dimensionally curved surfaces includes an elongated contouring assembly that is supported at opposite ends by a pair of fluid cylinders. The fluid cylinders are controlled to raise and lower the ends of the contouring assembly independently of each other, thereby allowing the contouring assembly to create a three-dimensionally curved surface as it passes over an area to be contoured. The control of one of the fluid cylinders is based on a comparison of the measured position of a first end of the contouring assembly with a profile of the surface to be leveled that is stored in a computer memory. The measurement of the position of the first end of the contouring assembly is achieved by a tracking device which tracks the position of a target positioned on the first end of the contouring assembly and which determines the three dimensional position of the target.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2003Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignees: Michigan Technological University, Somero Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Carl B.
