    Abstract: An enclosed carton for carrying a number of containers, such as cans, which is easily convertible into a tray with a lid, from which the cans can be easily removed. The tray is formed by a zipper with two tear lines that are formed in the adjoining bottom flaps of the carton. The carton may have a carrying handle for carrying the carton loaded with containers. This carton is especially designed to be easily convertible into a tray for holding cans between two closely spaced shelves in a refrigerator. Provision is made for the easy removal of the lid. Another embodiment of this invention discloses an enclosed carton with diamond shaped corners so that the carton can be tightly packed and which is also convertible into a tray.

After a mail carrier approaches the mailbox and opens the door, the signal flag member is immediately released and rotates into an easily visible deployed position substantially perpendicular to the mailbox's outside surface. The mail alert flag operates independently from the flag typically used on the right side of a mailbox to alert the mail carrier to the presence of outgoing mail. Further, it can be mounted in almost any top or lateral position on the outside surface of the mailbox where it would be readily visible to the person typically expected to monitor mail delivery from a remote location.

When the amount of the transaction is below the first threshold, the chip card performs a second comparison where it compares with a second threshold value an incremented value of a first counter. The first counter being an aggregate of small amounts counter and being successively incremented by values of amounts of transaction in cases where the amounts are below the first threshold. A procedure for authenticating the bearer of the card is instigated by the card depending on the result of this second comparison.

    Abstract: A secure device for electronic voting employs a write-once vote-recording medium. The medium has an initial writing mode in which data can be written but not read and a subsequent reading mode whereby data can be read but writing is permanently disabled. Once switched from the writing mode to the reading mode, it cannot be switched back. A hardware mechanism provides successful write confirmation The medium can be installed like a cartridge into a vote-recording device. The voting device provides encryption/authorization that combines polling parameters with voter information to produce a “fuse string”. For each vote, a fuse string is written to the array. The poll is “closed” by switching the medium to “read” mode, preventing further modification or tampering. To read out the results of the poll, an auditor enters “password” information to decode/decrypt the recorded information.

Thus, the influence of the alteration of a torque constant in accordance with the rocking angle can be suppressed so that the response characteristic becomes uniform all over a scanning region, and the positioning speed can be improved.

    Abstract: The invention is a keypad for securely entering personal identification numbers onto automated teller machines (ATM) or similar devices. A frame secures a flexible keypad to a printed circuit board. The front of the circuit includes a set of tamper detection contacts whose electrical circuit is completed by conductive material on the keypad surface. A moat of conductive material surrounds the tamper detection contact. Opening the circuit by removing the keypad or shorting the circuit to the moat initiates a tamper response. Attached to the reverse side of the printed circuit board are security sensitive electrical components. These security sensitive components include a static random access memory storing cryptographic information and a crypto processor. A plastic cover imprinted with a tamper detection grid forming multiple electrical circuits coupled to a tamper detection circuit covers these components. A border of conductive material on the printed circuit board also surrounds these components.
