The casing, in correspondence with a metatarsal zone thereof, comprises at least a through slit which allows the progressive elastic flexion of the casing due to the effect of the bending forward of the tongue.

Abstract: A modular snow travel system for common footwear includes a first traction component which may be an overboot. The first traction component includes at least one traction cleat having latch, such as an exposed hook portion, for engagement with a snowdeck. The engagement is effected by a releasable locking mechanism on the snowdeck. The releasable locking mechanism includes a transversely movable slider and a longitudinally movable slider having contacting cam faces. The lateral position of the transverse slider determines the longitudinal position of the longitudinal slider so that the longitudinal slider could be moved longitudinally to and from a position where a catch on the longitudinal slider is engaged in the hook portion or is disengaged from the latch of the traction cleat.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods secure an open-backed shoe during use. The apparatus prevents the bottom of a pant leg from slipping between a person's heel and a shoe bed of the shoe when walking. The apparatus is external to the shoe and comprises an anklet, which is worn around the ankle and adjustable to the size of an individual's ankle. The anklet is coupled to a heel strap that couples to a heel loop, which attaches to a heel of the shoe.

Abstract: Footwear and methods of manufacturing footwear. One embodiment provides a personalized or customized piece of footwear including a sole, an upper member, and a customer defined decoration (e.g. a message) attached to a forward portion of the upper member. The piece of footwear may be a leather athletic shoe and the shoe supplier can control the contents of the decoration. Another embodiment provides a collection of footwear including at least two individual pieces of footwear (which may be a pair) each with a different decoration thereon. Preferably, the collection includes two hundred pairs of footwear. In another embodiment, a method of manufacturing footwear is provided. The method may include accepting at least one customer-defined decoration for the footwear and arranging for the attachment of the customer-defined decoration (by, for example, embroidery where the decoration is embroidery) onto an upper member of the footwear.

Abstract: A system for use in conjunction with an underwater dredging apparatus having a power shovel with a bucket connected to a power housing by two articulated manipulator arms. The articulation of the manipulator arms relative to each other as well as one manipulator arm relative to the power housing controls both the horizontal position of the bucket as well as the vertical depth of the bucket. The system includes a data processor, a depth sensor which is attached to one manipulator arm at a predetermined position, as well as angle sensors which provide output signals of the relative angle of the manipulator arms relative to each other as well as relative to the power housing. The data processor is programmed to calculate the vertical depth of the bucket as a function of the depth sensor as well as the angle sensors. Once the bucket depth is calculated, the processor displays the bucket depth on a video display.

A single ripper tooth is mounted in the tip region of the ripper bucket. One or more plates are mounted to span a region between the side plates, rearward of the ripper tooth in a direction of ripping motion, to define, with the side plates, a ripper bucket volume for receiving material ripped from the substrate during ripping motion.

Some embodiments include a series of graphs or nomographs for the determination of a series of factors affecting the ballistic trajectory of a bullet in flight. One or more nomographs may be placed upon the reticle of a firearm scope, or provided on media external to the scope, as desired. The scope reticle can include at least one aiming point or aim point field to compensate for elevation and windage. Stadia for determining angular target dimension(s) can be included on the reticle, with a nomograph for determining apparent distance from the apparent dimensions being provided either on the reticle or external to the scope. Additional nomographs are provided for the determination and compensation of non-level slopes, non-standard density altitudes, and wind correction, either on the reticle or external thereto. Other embodiments are also claimed and described.

Abstract: The Field Decoy System is a way of making motion in a hunter's field decoys without wind or with or without the use of motors to move the decoys. This motion system can move decoys even on windless days. A hunter needs just to pull the activation cord that is connected to all the decoy stakes. As the activation or activation cords are moved and stretch the bungee cord, the decoys rotate on the stake in a rotary motion. This rotary motion imitates the side-to-side wobbling movement of birds on the move, while feeding in a field. This style of motion will make wary game birds more apt to land by them believing that the decoys are real feeding birds.

Abstract: A live well oxygenator includes a vessel having walls constructed of corrosion resistant material. The walls enclose a chamber that functions as a gaseous oxygen storage chamber. Fittings are disposed on the walls so that gaseous oxygen may be supplied to the chamber from an outside source. The vessel is equipped with a water pump and water return pipe which are in fluid communication with the water in a live well to provide for circulation of the water through the vessel. The water pump sucks water from the live well so that it flows through pump discharge piping. The pump discharge piping is positioned in the oxygen storage chamber. An induction fitting on the discharge piping functions to induct oxygen into the water stream in finely divided bubbles.

Abstract: A solar powered insect trapping and terminating apparatus includes an upper tube body, a lower tube body being disposed on the ground for the upper tube body to insert into the lower tube body and a case being disposed besides the lower tube body. A power supply is disposed within the case to implement the solar powered insect trapping and terminating apparatus. When a user tries to trap and terminate insects, he/she only needs to prepare a basin or to dig a sink on the ground, therefore, when the plurality of luminous elements of the lamp emitting light of different wavelengths, various kinds of insects would be attracted to fly to the basin or the sink then as an insect falls into the basin or the sink, it would be trapped inside and could not escape.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for killing insects on vegetation using an insecticide, where the insecticide does not contact the vegetation. In one embodiment, an absorbent material is placed on an upper surface of a disc mower. The absorbent material is soaked with insecticide, and as a tractor moves the mower through a field of hay, insects land on the insecticide-laden material and die from the toxic effect of the insecticide. In another embodiment, an L-shaped blade outfitted with an insecticide-laden mat is mounted transverse to the front of an all-terrain vehicle or a tractor, which is driven through a field. The blade, or alternatively a feeder bar attached to the blade, brushes the tips of vegetation in the field, causing bugs and insects to fly, fall or jump from the vegetation onto the insecticide-laden mat, where the insecticide kills some, most or all of the bugs and insects.

Abstract: A pellet manufactured from a porous combustible material which is infused with a combustible liquid accelerant. The pellet is preferably made from wood shavings, crushed cocoa shells or coffee grounds that are compressed together. The compressed materials are then soaked in a liquid accelerant, such as a petroleum product, or sprayed with a petroleum product. This results in a pellet that has only an outermost layer that includes the accelerant or the entire pellet is saturated with the accelerant. The pellets are then poured over the wood or briquettes that are to be burned and they tend to filter into the spaces between the wood logs or briquettes. The accelerant is volatile and consequently when a flame is applied to one or more pellets they ignite quickly and the flames spread rapidly from one pellet to another and thereby to the wood logs or briquettes that they surround.

The lower reservoir surface extends inwardly into the corner pad defining a reservoir between the vertical member and the weather strip. The corner pad includes a second reservoir surface extending angularly from said lower reservoir surface for preventing the water from splashing out of said reservoir and into an interior of the building.

A surface of the diamond body is treated to provide the first region, and before treatment is finished to an approximate final dimension.

In turn, the upper portion of the eaves beam includes downwardly extended legs which are adapted to fit over the base member and are fastened to the base member by screws extended laterally through the legs into the base member. This facilitates installation of the eaves beam and allows the roof to be pre-assembled, taken to the work site and installed.

The stud are placed at one or more of a limited number of regularly-spaced pre-determined stud spacings along the plates. Respective pieces of the lumber are useful in the bottom and/or top plates. Stud locator markings define positions for placement of an end of a stud against the respective bottom and top plates. The stud locator markings indicate where the front and back surfaces of the studs intersect the respective plates. Each stud marking includes marking material affixed directly to the respective piece of lumber. The lumber is preferably substantially devoid of location indicators except for the stud markings.

Abstract: Various types of extendable support structures provide a lateral dimension that is defined by at least one lazy tong, and the longitudinal dimension is variable by extension and retraction of the at least one lazy tong. The extendable structure may include a plurality of adjacent and attached lazy tongs that are capable of supporting a significant load through the interconnection of the adjacent lazy tongs forming the structure. The extendable structure may be fully retracted to minimize the longitudinal dimension and thereby provide a compact structure, such as one that can be easily transported or stored. The extendable structure may be extended to a length as required for a particular purpose and limited to a maximum longitudinal dimension when the structure is being used to support a load. As such the various types of extendable support structures may be used in many scenarios, such as for providing a loading ramp, bridge, walkway, or working surface.
