Abstract: An assembly for sidetracked drilling in a wall of a borehole previously drilled or cored in a formation includes a guide element and an expansible device fixed to the front end of the guide element operable to be selectively expanded by an actuation means. A sidetracking channel is formed in the guide element in alignment with an internal space, upstream of the expansible device in the direction of advance. A longitudinal cavity is formed in the guide element parallel to the longitudinal axis and arranged to allow passage from the internal space to the actuation means of the expansible device. Within the internal space of the guide element, an external tube of the core barrel includes a core bit fixed to the front end of the external tube and arranged to slide, after having been released, in the internal space and in the sidetracking channel and then progress to the formation.

  • Patent number: 7320376
Abstract: A tire wheel structure that avoids the adverse effect of the increase in the unsprung mass associated with the presence of a driving motor at the time of a road surface input to a tire wheel is provided. In the tire wheel structure, the driving motor is disposed near the tire wheel that is supported on a vehicle body. The driving motor drives the tire wheel by transferring driving force to the tire wheel. The output shaft of the driving motor is connected to a wheel of the tire wheel via a flexible coupling. The driving motor is supported by a knuckle member of a suspension via coil springs and absorbers so that the driving motor is relatively displaceable with respect to the tire wheel along a guide that has an axis that is inclined with respect to a vertical axis in a vehicular front-rear direction.

  • Patent number: 7320378
Abstract: An exhaust control apparatus for a motorcycle includes an exhaust collection pipe, which collects and combines exhaust gas from a plurality of exhaust pipes, and an exhaust valve. The exhaust valve is operatively attached to the collection pipe and controls flow of exhaust gas within the collection pipe. A pivot shaft of the exhaust valve is situated at an angle and is displaced from the centers of the exhaust pipes, such that the shaft is not aligned with the centers of the exhaust pipes. This arrangement of the pivot shaft provides a smooth, non-turbulent flow of exhaust gas, and reduces impedance to the flow of exhaust gas. The exhaust control apparatus may be mounted to reside within a recess formed in a motorcycle body frame, to reduce vehicle width.

  • Patent number: 7320388
Abstract: A two-stage shock absorber has a pressure tube within which a valve assembly is slidably disposed. A piston rod is attached to the valve assembly and extends out of the pressure tube. A ring is slidably disposed within the pressure tube and engages the valve assembly. After a specified amount of movement of the valve assembly with respect to the pressure tube in an extension movement of the shock absorber, the sleeve engages a plurality of spirally positioned bores and reduces the fluid flow through the valve assembly to progressively switch the shock absorber from soft damping to firm damping. In another embodiment the sleeve engages a spiral groove of variable depth to reduce the fluid flow through the valve assembly to progressively switch the shock absorber from soft damping to firm damping.

  • Patent number: 7320405
Abstract: A novel container (20) for transport or storage of products such as bread, buns, or other goods. In one embodiment, there is provided a nestable container with a base (24) and sidewalls (28, 32) that can be stacked in two positions for different products and can be nested when empty for compact storage. The container has levered positions for lifting out of each stacking position and into a corresponding sliding position. The sliding positions can be used to offset the container or containers from the stack and reduce the strain on the operator when lifting for destacking. Alternatively, the container can slide in the opposite direction for stacking in either position. Thus the operator can set the container down, offset from the stack, in the sliding position and slide into stacking position. Back strain can be reduced during stacking and destacking as the operator does not have to extend or lean over the stack to pick up or set down the containers.

Abstract: A reversible sack that is suitable for use as a container liner is disclosed. The sack is selectively sealable and in one example can be opened and/or closed to varying degrees. More particularly, the sack has an open end and one or more mechanisms associated therewith that facilitate opening and/or closing the open end of the sack. In one example, the sack also includes a mechanism that facilitates maintaining the open end of the sack in any of the various degrees of opened and/or closed conditions. The sack functions the same regardless of whether it is in a reversed or un-reversed configuration. The reversibility of the sack provides for added versatility and allows a user to employ the sack in an un-reversed and reversed configuration as may be desired and appropriate given particular settings, surroundings, times, seasons, etc.

Abstract: A dispenser comprising a first barrier, and a second barrier that is spaced apart from the first barrier. These two barriers define a first item-receiving space between the barriers, and the second barrier at least partially defines a second item-receiving space behind the second barrier. The first barrier is adapted to move between: (A) a first-barrier-closed position in which the first barrier restricts access to the first item-receiving space, and (B) a first-barrier-open position in which the first barrier permits access to the first item-receiving space. Similarly, the second barrier is adapted to move between: (A) a second-barrier-closed position in which the second barrier restricts access to the second item-receiving space, and (B) a second-barrier-open position in which the second barrier permits access to the second item-receiving space. The dispenser may comprise a third barrier, and the first, second, and third barriers may be positioned in a substantially horizontal array.

Abstract: Substantially cylindrical condiment containers with extendable and retractable pouring spouts are provided. A dispensing mechanism in each container can be actuated by simply rotating the lower portion of the body of the container, without the need for separate knobs or levers. The dispensing mechanism uses a stainless steel ring-shaped spring in a detent structure which properly aligns an outlet opening with a compartment from which material is to be dispensed, creates a discernable “click” to indicate proper alignment, and serves as a ratchet to prevent rotation of the mechanism in the wrong direction.

  • Patent number: 7320418
Abstract: Controlled sanitizing by dispensing a germicide, such as a disinfectant, antibacterial solution or cleansing agent at intervals. A system can include a housing sized to seat an aerosol can and a control circuit that operates to momentarily open a valve on the aerosol can through action of a gear system upon an aerosol delivery tube. A sensor responds to displacement of the delivery tube to deliver state signals to the control circuit. The control circuit prevents action of the gear system in the event that the state signals fail at least one prescribed condition. A method registers at least the displacement of the delivery tube via the sensor and prevents subsequent displacements and hence subsequent sanitizing in the event that the sensor has not registered at least the displacement of the delivery tube. The method ensures that a suitable aerosol can has been properly loaded in the dispenser.
