  • Patent number: 7331067
Abstract: A toilet seat lifting and lowering device for pivoting the seat to its raised position and for pivoting it back to its horizontal position without having to touch the seat. A first lever arm is rigidly attached at one end to a first part of a torque transfer mechanism and at its other end to a foot pedal and a second lever arm is rigidly attached at one end to a second part of the torque transfer mechanism and at its other end to the toilet seat. With the toilet seat in its horizontal position, a downward force on the pedal produces a rotation of the first part of the torque transfer mechanism which produces an opposite rotation of the second part of the torque transfer mechanism causing the toilet seat to pivot to its raised position. Lifting the pedal, preferably by providing an upward force under the pedal, lowers the seat to the horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 7331071
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for sensing when a person is disposed on or arises from a support that flexes or sags when a person is disposed thereon. Such supports include beds, supports for a mattress or a seat, such as a sling-type seat found on wheelchairs. In one embodiment, an assembly is positioned beneath the support and includes a sensor. The sensor indicates when tension on the assembly exceeds a certain amount which is indicative of sagging of the support. The assembly may be adjustable in length to maintain proper tension in the absence of sag. The sensor may be a switch that includes a plunger which operates against the bias of a biasing member which either completes or interrupts an electrical circuit in response to tension placed on the assembly due to sagging of the support. In another embodiment, the assembly may be at least partially elastic. In yet another embodiment, a strain gauge may be employed to detect stretching of the assembly due to sagging of the support.

  • Patent number: 7331097
Abstract: A workpiece chuck includes an upper assembly on which can be mounted a flat workpiece such as a semiconductor wafer. A lower assembly is mountable to a base that supports the chuck. A non-constraining attachment means such as vacuum, springs or resilient washers applied to the chuck holds the upper assembly to the lower assembly, the lower assembly to the base and can hold the wafer to the top surface of the upper assembly. By holding the chuck together by non-constraining means, the chuck layers can move continuously relative to each other under expansion forces caused by temperature effects, such that mechanical stresses on the chuck and resulting deformation of the chuck and workpiece over temperature are substantially eliminated. A plurality of support members including inclined surfaces provided between an upper and lower portion of the chuck maintain the top surface of the chuck and any workpiece mounted thereon at a constant height over temperature.

  • Patent number: 7331105
Abstract: Provided is a method and system for placing components by means of at least one component placement unit wherein the component placement unit is moved over a distance between a component pickup position and a component placement position located on a substrate. In addition, a total distance to be covered by the component placement unit is calculated for the number of components to be placed, wherein the number of components to be placed is determined beforehand. This total distance value is subsequently compared with a reference value. If the total distance value is greater than the reference value, the substrate to be provided with the components is rotated with respect to the component pickup position about an axis that extends perpendicularly to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7331106
Abstract: A process for selectively depositing a filled underfill material onto a die surface without covering solder bumps present on the die. The process entails microjetting a polymer matrix material, a filler material, and optionally a fluxing material onto the die surface. Together, the polymer matrix and filler materials define the filled underfill material in which the filler material is dispersed to reduce the coefficient of thermal expansion of the underfill material. The resulting underfill material surrounds but does not cover the solder bumps. The die is then placed on a substrate on which a second underfill material is present, forming a composite underfill layer that completely fills the space between the die and substrate and forms a fillet on a peripheral wall of the die.

  • Patent number: 7331108
Abstract: A knife includes a handle, a blade and a trigger. The handle has an internal cavity containing a compressed gas source and the blade is affixed to the handle. The blade has an internal bore running along a longitudinal axis from the handle to a point proximate a tip. The blade further has an aperture extending from a first edge to the internal bore at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis of between 15° and 75°. The trigger has a depressed position and a not depressed position. When in the depressed position, the internal bore communicates with the compressed gas source and when in said not depressed position, the internal bore is blocked from the compressed gas source. When a creature is pierced with the knife, the trigger is depressed injecting compressed gas into the creature greatly enhancing the incapacitating effect of the knife.

Abstract: A chainsaw is provided having a brake band disposed about a drum that rotates during advancement of the saw chain about the saw bar. An end of the brake band is biased to a position that draws the brake band tight about the drum to prevent advancement of the saw chain, and the throttle trigger of the chainsaw is associated with this biased end to push the band against the bias and release the drum when the throttle trigger is squeezed to drive the elements of the chainsaw that serve to advance the saw chain. Also provided are new concepts for associating gasing and braking elements with the throttle trigger.

Abstract: The present invention provides a “third-axis” leveling block for use with an archery sight. The third-axis leveling block holds an archery sighting device (e.g., a scope or a pin sight) as know in the art. The leveling block adjusts the position of the sight in two axes by means of cams. One of the cams adjusts the sighting device to the archer's preferred cant. The other cam adjusts the angle of the sighting device with respect to the bow to keep the archer's cant consistent when the bow is raised or lowered for shooting at targets at any elevation, above, below, or on the same level as the archer.

  • Patent number: 7331113
Abstract: Disclosed is a tool alignment device that aids the operator in positioning a hand tool such as a drill or driver perpendicular, parallel or a specific angle to the target surface. Importantly, the operator can observe the device an omni-directional line-of-sight. The device includes of a light beam emitting/detecting device, which is affixed to the tool, and a flat optical reflector, which is placed on the target surface. The light-emitting device is used to project a beam of light onto the reflector, collinearly with the axis of the tool. The beam is reflected back to the device and lights up a light guide indicating when the tool is perpendicular to or at a specific angle to the target surface.

  • Patent number: 7331115
Abstract: A compass compensation system is provided for automatically and continuously calibrating an electronic compass for a vehicle, without requiring an initial manual calibration or preset of the vehicle magnetic signature. The system initially adjusts a two axis sensor of the compass in response to a sampling of at least one initial data point. The system further calibrates the compass by sampling data points that are substantially opposite to one another on a plot of a magnetic field and averaging an ordinate of the data points to determine a respective zero value for the Earth magnetic field. The system also identifies a change in magnetic signature and adjusts the sensor assembly.
