Abstract: A keyboard device is designed for use in an electronic musical instrument. A plurality of keys including white keys and black keys are arranged on a keyboard frame. Supporting parts are mounted on the keyboard frame for supporting the keys pivotably downward and upward. The supporting parts include white key supporting parts to support the white keys and black key supporting parts to support the black keys. The supporting parts are positioned at the rear portions of the keys such that the black key supporting parts are arranged rearward relative to the white key supporting parts. The keyboard frame supports an anti-floating part which extends across the rear portions of the keys and positioned above the supporting parts of the keys so as to prevent the rear portion of the key from floating upward when the front portion of the key is pressed downward.

Abstract: The Cellular Automata Music Generator (CAMG) is a software platform, application and engine that generates and modifies musical compositions in real-time using a system of networked modules that utilize the 1-dimensional cellular automata (CA) mathematical model. The music compositions are non-looping (i.e. the same few bars of music do not repeat over and over), can be any length, can have low memory and processing requirements compared to looping WAV or MP3 files, and follow psychoacoustic principles. The music generated is ever evolving and can be globally altered based on one-parameter change. The music engine can be utilized in computer games or to generate unique ringtones or any musical composition for cell phones or other mobile devices based on ten-digit inputs, such as telephone numbers. The ringtones or musical pieces can be generated automatically based on the telephone number of the in-coming telephone call, or manually by the user, who inputs a selected numerical sequence.

Abstract: In a filter device, a filter coefficient calculation circuit has a parameter table. The parameter table stores a plurality of sets of filter coefficients associated with a first parameter based on a frequency and a second parameter based on respective plurality of levels representing a degree of attenuation or enhancement of a gain of a filter in filter characteristics. The filter coefficient calculation circuit extracts a set of filter coefficients from a parameter table with the use of the first parameter and the second parameter determined according to a frequency and a strength of a musical sound signal, and outputs the extracted set of filter coefficients to the filter. The filter circuit performs filter processing for the musical sound signal, based on the filter characteristics determined by the set of filter coefficients.

Abstract: Component gas is separated from a gas mixture. Component gas flow rate, or demand, is determined. One or more gas separator operating parameters is changed based on the component gas flow rate. For example, gas flow rate can be approximated by measuring a rate of pressure decay of a product tank during a time period in which the tank is not being replenished by the separating system. When it is determined that the flow rate is relatively low, operating parameters of the separating system are changed to improve system performance with the lower demand. For example, a target product tank pressure at which sieve beds are switched can be lowered when demand is lower.

Abstract: Design optimization methods can be used to design concrete mixtures having optimized properties, including desired strength and slump at minimal cost. The design optimization methods use a computer-implemented process that is able to design and virtually “test” millions of hypothetical concrete compositions using mathematical algorithms that interrelate a number of variables that affect strength, slump, cost and other desired features. The design optimization procedure utilizes a constant K (or K factor) within Feret's strength equation that varies (e.g., logarithmically) with concrete strength for any given set of raw material inputs and processing equipment. That means that the binding efficiency or effectiveness of hydraulic cement increases with increasing concentration so long as the concrete remains optimized. The knowledge of how the K factor varies with binding efficiency and strength is a powerful tool that can be applied in multiple circumstances.
