  • Patent number: 7357132
Abstract: A system (22) for orienting an object (28) relative to a base (24) to which the object (28) is rotatably coupled includes a braking surface (46) in fixed relation with the base (24). A brake (48) is engaged with the braking surface (46). A linear actuator (82) has a body (86) in fixed attachment with the object (28) via a strap member (84) and a coupling element (80). The linear actuator (82) also includes a rod (88) in fixed communication with the brake (48) through an elongate member (90) that flexes in response to a braking force (66) imposed on the braking surface (46) by the brake (48). The linear actuator is activated to generate linear motion (120) of the rod (88). The linear motion (120) of the rod (88) causes rotational motion (122) of the object (28). • Patent number: 7357133
Abstract: An electronic gas flow triggering circuit for use in an aerosol drug dispensing device has a voltage source and a self-nulling circuit to which voltage is supplied from the voltage source. A hot wire anemometer filament forms a component of the bridge circuit which is adapted to maintain a constant resistance of the anemometer filament, the bridge drive voltage being dependent upon the gas flow across the anemometer filament. A comparator compares the bridge output voltage with a reference voltage and provides a triggering signal to operate the device if the bridge drive voltage is greater than the reference voltage.

  • Patent number: 7357164
Abstract: A device is provided for maintaining a desired inflation pressure within a tire mounted on a wheel of a vehicle. The device includes a microcompressor and a magnetic element. The compressor is mounted on the wheel and is in fluid communication with the atmosphere and the tire. The magnetic element is mounted on a stationary member of the wheel assembly and produces a magnetic field. The compressor is activated by transiting the magnetic field during each wheel revolution. Alternatively, an electric coil mounted on the wheel may transit the magnetic field to generate electrical power for an electrically-driven compressor. Thus, the compressor may pump air into the tire to maintain the desired inflation pressure. For leaks or device failure, a driver may be notified and a battery can operate the compressor at a high rate to maximize tire use until a safe place is reached.

Abstract: A hollow-cylindrical portion (26) inserted in a hollow-cylindrical portion (16) of one rim section (12) is provided on the other rim section (13). To form a split rim (11), part (head portion) of the inner hollow-cylindrical portion (26) overlaid on the outer hollow-cylindrical portion (16) is radially outwardly expanded by being elastically deformed by a tapered surface (39) of a piston (38) such that the inner and outer hollow-cylindrical portions (16, 26) are in close contact with each other. As a result, relative positions of the rim sections (12, 13) are strictly defined, and this enables high assembling accuracy, particularly coaxiality with a high level, to be achieved. A fine fitted to the split rim (11) can be inspected with high accuracy.

If a calculated outlet temperature is below a first temperature, a control system opens both dampers to a recirculation position. If the calculated outlet temperature is between the first temperature and a higher second temperature, the control system opens either the first or second damper to a fresh position, and opens the other damper to a recirculation position or the fresh position based upon relative humidity and vehicle speed. If the calculated outlet temperature is higher than the second temperature, the first and second dampers are both opened to the fresh position.
