Abstract: A new and distinct variety that is characterized by producing a freestone fruit with good coloration and that is ripe for commercial harvesting and shipment June 15-25 in the San Joaquin Valley of Central California. The new variety is closely similar to the ‘Saucer’ peach tree (non-patented) from which it is a bud sport and from which it is distinguishable in that the fruit is much more highly colored, and has yellow flesh.

Abstract: ‘Odessa’ is a new variety of calla lily having a flower with a purple colored spathe producing 2-15 flowers per tuber. The flower stems are about 60 cm in height. The leaves are green with whitish spots and they have a leathery texture.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a thermal spray apparatus with improved thermal efficiency and wear resistance in both the nozzle and barrel combustion chamber. Specifically, disclosed herein is a thermal spray apparatus for spraying substrate coatings, comprising a high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) gun wherein said gun includes a combustion chamber generating heated flow therefrom and a nozzle downstream from said chamber. The nozzle and/or chamber contain a first layer of material heated by the flow, and a second layer of material which contacts the first layer when said first layer is heated. The first layer has a thermal conductivity that is lower than said second layer and preferably a lower thermal expansion coefficient. In use, the contact of the first heated layer of material with the second layer operates to remove heat from the first layer therein providing automatic/self-regulating temperature control of the HVOF apparatus.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for sensing the position, size, shape and location orientation of one or more objects in two dimensions. The position sensor uses arrays of light sensors mounted on a substrate. When an object passes in proximity to the light sensors light energy from a plurality of light sources is either reflected from the object to the light sensors, or is emitted directly to the light sensors. The light energy is then converted to individual signals and transmitted through circuit traces in a printed circuit board to a local controller. The information may then be processed to determine the size, position, shape and location orientation of an object.

Abstract: An SOI chip having an isolation barrier. The SOI chip includes a substrate, an oxide layer deposited on the substrate, and a silicon layer deposited on the oxide layer. A gate is deposited above the silicon layer. A first metal contact is deposited above the gate to form an electrical contact with the gate. Second and third metal contacts are deposited to form electrical contacts with the silicon layer. The isolation barrier extends through the silicon layer and the oxide layer, and partially into the substrate, to block impurities in the oxide layer outside the isolation barrier from diffusing into the oxide layer inside the isolation barrier. The isolation barrier surrounds the gate, the first metal contact, the second metal contact, and the third metal contact—which define an active chip area inside the isolation barrier. A method of manufacturing the SOI chip is also disclosed.

Abstract: An electronic game, method and apparatus, is disclosed which includes individually operable electric switches to control the device, and electric light emitting means to provide multi-color displays. The object of the game is for the player to manipulate the switches until all multi-color displays indicate the same color. The device functions by matching electrical operating codes, transmitted from its left and bottom edges, with electrical operating codes stored at its top and right edges, to generate electrical color codes. The electric switches control the routing of the operating codes within the device, and the distribution of the color codes to the multi-color displays. In the preferred embodiment, the device utilizes a microprocessor to control the progress of the game, monitor the position of electric switches, and control the display of multi-color indications.

Abstract: A mouse controller includes a platform mounted on a base for a range of movement in a plane relative to the base of at least ½ inch (12.5 mm) in each of two different directions (preferably mutually perpendicular directions). A pair of flat, elongated coils (Lorentz voice coils) are mounted on the platform with their longitudinal axes extending one in each of the two directions. Each of the coils cooperates with at least one magnet fixed to the base. The sizes of the magnets and of the coils and the relative positions of the cooperating coils and magnets are made or their operation controlled so that, in the range of relative movement between the platform and base, preselected forces between the coils and the magnets may be generated by a control computer.

Abstract: A portable light includes first and second d.c. lamps. A first housing portion has longitudinal access and encloses the first lamp while projecting a first light beam in a direction of longitudinal access. The first housing portion has a exterior surface contour and includes a compartment containing an electrical device connectable to a d.c. power supply connectable in circuit with the first lamp. A second housing portion is the shape of a hand grip and extends from first side of the first housing portion in a direction transversed to the longitudinal access to the first housing portion. The second housing portion encloses the second lamp which is connectable in circuit with the electrical device for projecting a second light beam in the direction forming at an angle with the longitudinal access of the first housing portion.

Abstract: An automatic gain control circuit in the feedback path for a laser wavelength control circuit is described herein. This gain control circuit automatically adjusts the amplification of the analog signals output from a photodetector array, where the array detects a fringe pattern created by a laser beam. Another feature of the preferred embodiment feedback circuit is the automatic setting of a DC offset voltage that compensates for errors in the feedback path and enables an accurate determination of a dark level signal in the fringe pattern signal. This dark level signal provides a reference for measuring the magnitude of the fringe pattern signal. Varying photodetector outputs may now be more accurately measured. The preferred embodiment feedback circuit also employs a very fast amplifier anti-saturation circuit using LED's connected in a clamp circuit.

Abstract: A scroll compressor includes a fluid injection system. The fluid injection system includes a fluid passage which extends from a position outside of the shell of the compressor to the fluid pockets created by the wraps of the scroll members. The fluid passage extends through the orbiting scroll member. The fluid injection system can be used to inject gaseous or liquid refrigerant, lubricant or the fluid injection system can be used to vent the moving pocket to the suction area of the compressor for capacity modulation.

Abstract: A powered oscillating hand tool includes a drive unit having an electric motor and a drive shaft; a bearing eccentrically mounted on the drive shaft and located radially eccentrically relative to the drive shaft; a carrier plate mounted on the bearing and a platen for mounting on the carrier plate. The carrier plate is provided with a first engagement means and the platen is provided with second engagement means to engage with the first engagement means by rotation of the platen relative to the carrier plate. The first and second engagement means together comprise a bayonet fitting.

Abstract: A UART including a logic unit is disclosed, wherein the logic unit automatically enables or disables the UART receiver port whenever data is being processed by the UART for wireless transmission. More specifically, a logic unit is connected to a data store, to a transmit FIFO and to a UART processing unit as well as to an external CPU, wherein the logic unit analyzes the logic states of each of the signals from each of the specified connections to determine whether to enable or disable the receiver unit. An inventive method is also disclosed wherein the logic unit only enables the receiver when the data store is empty and the transmitter FIFO is empty and a receiver enable flag is set to true and a half duplex mode of operation has been specified by an external CPU. Otherwise, the logic enables the receiver only when a full duplex mode of operation has been specified and the receiver enable flag is set to a logic one.

In one arrangement, the reinforcement structure is an external shell and, in another arrangement, the reinforcement structure is an internal skeletal frame. The helmet also includes a retention mechanism defining a contact surface configured to contact a rearward surface of the head of the user. A strap arrangement includes a first strap portion and second strap portion selectively connectable to one another to extend from opposing sides of the body and underneath a chin of the user. Desirably, no portion of the strap arrangement is secured to the retention mechanism. The strap arrangement includes a strap section extending through a pair of spaced openings in a lower, rearward portion of the body such that a portion of the strap section extends across an outer surface of the body between the openings.

Abstract: Apparatus 10 discloses a venting apparatus for a toilet bowl 12 using a gasket 18 that is positioned between a toilet seat 14 and toilet bowl rim 16 forming a gasket-like seal therebetween. The toilet bowl gasket 18 is comprised of a pliable oval-like housing having an interior cavity 20 therein. Located remotely to the venting apparatus is a motorized exhaust fan 22 connected to conduit 24 extending between the toilet seat venting apparatus and discharge vent 26. The exterior walls have a plurality of apertures 28, 30 therein serving to draw air from the toilet bowl 12 and exterior ambient air through the cavity 20 to an aperture having an exteriorly extending nipple 32 with the aforementioned conduit attached thereto whereby activating the pump 22 causes air to be drawn into the cavity 20 and discharged at the point of discharge 26.

Abstract: A debris catch assembly used between a plumbing fixture and drain piping. It has two strainers and structure for supporting the larger strainer in a superior position. Both strainers are configured with holes through their side and bottom surfaces, to catch all types of solid debris in waste fluid, including hair. During use, both strainers are rapidly removed and inserted without tools into their usable positions from a location above the plumbing fixture's drain opening. The larger strainer initially catches all of the debris. When it is filled up, it is withdrawn from the drain via finger engagement with a protruding stub, after which collected debris is emptied into a dry waste receptacle. During such cleaning, debris collects in the second strainer. When void of fluid, the second strainer can be removed from the drain for cleaning via a handle having a bent configuration that clears the strainer above it.

Abstract: A flow diverter accepts a stream of water from a conventional toilet valve and diverts a portion of the flow into the toilet tank, outside the overflow tube. In a first, more rudimentary embodiment of the invention, a flow diverter accepts flow from the toilet tank fill valve and includes a first exit opening for introducing a portion of the flow into the toilet tank overflow tube, and a second portion of the flow into the toilet tank. Providing two exit openings for to split the incoming stream into a first flow of about one third of the input and into a second exit opening to split the remainder of the incoming stream into a second flow of about two thirds of the incoming stream provides significant flow control for the user. In cases where a user's bowl overfills, the user can attach the flow diverter to the end of the conventional toilet tank overflow tube line and position it as needed.

The bed assembly main components include a head board, foot board, a first side panel, a second side panel, and a mattress support frame. The mattress support frame comprises a first bed frame and a second bed frame of substantially the same size and shape. A single bed frame supports a mini-size crib. The first and second frame can be interconnected into a rectangular structure to support a full size crib. The head board and footboard have substantially the same size and shape. Each foot board and head board are supported by a pair of adjustable leg members. Additionally, a telescopically L-shape bracket member is mounted into the top side of each foot board and head board. The first side panel and second side panel have substantially the same size and shape.
