  • Patent number: 7397800
Abstract: Certain aspects of the invention provide handling out-of-order TCP segments and may include placing a first received segment in a host buffer and determining whether a second received segment is an in-order or out-of-order (OOO) segment. Control information associated with OOO segments may be stored locally on a network interface card (NIC) and the OOO segment placed in a host buffer rather than on the NIC. An address or location occupied by an end of the first received segment may be recorded and stored on the NIC. As in-order and/or OOO segments are received, control information associated with a starting address and/or end address may be stored on the NIC. Accordingly, as subsequent in-order and/or OOO segments are received, they may be correctly placed within the host buffer based on the recorded and/or stored control information without being buffered on the NIC.

  • Patent number: 7397802
Abstract: In a communications network where cross-connect nodes are organized according to geographic domains, a domain connectivity table indicates intra-domain connectivity of each domain and a domain routing table indicates a route specifying those nodes whose intra-domain connectivity is indicated in the domain connectivity table. Each node uses its domain routing table to establish a path between edge nodes. • Patent number: 7397804
Abstract: The invention includes an apparatus and a method for transmitting sub-protocol data units from a plurality of base transceiver stations to a subscriber unit. The method includes estimating time delays required for transferring the sub-protocol data units between a scheduler unit and each of the base transceiver stations. The method further includes the scheduler unit generating a schedule of time slots and frequency blocks in which the sub-protocol data units are to be transmitted from the base transceiver stations to the subscriber unit. The time delays are used to generate the schedule. The time delays can be used to generate a look ahead schedule that compensates for the timing delays of the sub-protocol data units from the scheduler unit to the base transceiver stations. The sub-protocol data units are wirelessly transmitted from the base transceiver stations to the subscriber unit according to the schedule.

  • Patent number: 7397809
Abstract: An improved combined Switching Data Unit (SDU) queuing discipline for unicast and multicast (Protocol Data Unit) PDU forwarding at a switching node is provided. Multicast SDU descriptors are replicated and stored in entries of a First-In/First-Out queue portion of a hybrid output port queue. Unicast SDU descriptors are chained in entries of a linked list queue portion of the hybrid output port queue. Servicing of the hybrid queue uses hybrid queue counters, and inter-departure-counters stored in multicast FIFO queue entries to keep track of the number of unicast SDU linked list entries, to be serviced between the multicast FIFO queue entries. The combined hybrid queue derives storage efficiency benefits from linking unicast PDUs in linked lists and further derives benefits from a simple access to multicast PDU entries.

  • Patent number: 7397813
Abstract: In allocating bandwidth using a Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) fairness mechanism in a node connected to an RPR network, when congestion occurs, an amount of traffic that the node has transmitted to a ring during one aging interval is stored together with its own identifier in a fairness message as a fairness transmission rate to be advertised to its own upstream nodes. The amount of traffic transmitted from the upstream node during the aging interval is measured and stored. When the congestion has been solved, an available bandwidth is calculated with reference to the fairness transmission rate and the amount of traffic transmitted from the upstream nodes, and the fairness transmission rate is calculated to fairly allocate the available bandwidth to the upstream nodes so that the fairness transmission rate is transmitted to the upstream nodes.

  • Patent number: 7397831
Abstract: A laser beam temporally modulated in amplitude by a modulator and shaped into a long and narrow shape by a beam shaper is rotated around the optical axis of an image rotator inserted between the beam shaper and a substrate. Thus, the longitudinal direction of the laser beam having the long and narrow shape is rotated around the optical axis on the substrate. In order to perform annealing in a plurality of directions on the substrate, the laser beam shaped into the long and narrow shape is rotated on the substrate while a stage mounted with the substrate is moved only in two directions, that is, X- and Y-directions. In such a manner, the substrate can be scanned at a high speed with a continuous wave laser beam modulated temporally in amplitude and shaped into a long and narrow shape, without rotating the substrate. Thus, a semiconductor film can be annealed.

  • Patent number: 7397836
Abstract: An improved singlet delta oxygen generator (SOG) and method of its use are disclosed. The improved SOG is compact and scalable, capable of operating in a zero-gravity or low gravity environment, requires no gaseous diluent or buffer gas, and is capable of operating at pressures as high as one atmosphere. The improved SOG also efficiently utilizes the reactants and produces a O2(1?) stream that is largely free of chlorine and water vapor contamination and therefore does not require a BHP regeneration system or a water vapor trap. When used as part of a COIL system, the SOG may be part of a plenum that directly feeds the laser's nozzle. The close proximity of the SOG to the laser cavity allows operation of the SOG at higher pressures without significant depletion of available O2(1?) through collisional deactivation.

  • Patent number: 7397838
Abstract: A base station having the strongest downlink signal is identified by utilizing a unique slope of a pilot tone hopping sequence being transmitted by a base station. Specifically, base station identification is realized by determining the slope of the strongest received pilot signal, i.e., the received pilot signal having the maximum energy. In an embodiment of the invention, the pilot tone hopping sequence is based on a Latin Squares sequence. With a Latin Squares based pilot tone hopping sequence, all a mobile user unit needs is to locate the frequency of the pilot tones at one time because the pilot tone locations at subsequent times can be determined from the slope of the Latin Squares pilot tone hopping sequence. The slope and initial frequency shift of the pilot tone hopping sequence with the strongest received power is determined by employing a unique maximum energy detector.

  • Patent number: 7397841
Abstract: There is provided a communication apparatus compliant with ultra wide band communication systems for improving resistance to interfering waves in combination with DS-SS (direct sequence spread spectrum). There is provided a training section based on short code spread with the same pattern repeated for each symbol length. Actual communication itself is preceded by coherent channel measurement of a transmission channel by using the training section to specify a length of the short code to be a measurement period and using N cycles of a carrier as a time resolution for measurement. A chip timing is controlled at the time resolution for measurement. At all points given by a time resolution for a measurement period, a measured value is obtained by using the short code to despread A/D-converted values from an input signal based on the chip timing.

Together, these statistics incorporate the relationships in noise and channel estimation across two or more RAKE fingers, and thus improve combining weight generation. Exemplary determination of statistics comprises channel coefficient cross-correlations, noise cross-correlations, and channel estimation error cross-correlations. Determination of the statistics can be varied based on, for example, the assumption of default or nominal signal models.
