Abstract: A drawing apparatus includes a CPU. Target image data is written to a drawing area of an SDRAM, and the CPU performs resolution changing processing in a descending direction on the image data of the drawing area. The result of the resolution changing processing is written to a displaying area of the SDRAM, and an LCD monitor displays a low-resolution image on the basis of the image data of the displaying area on a display surface. On the display surface, a detection surface of a touch panel is laminated. When a touch operation is performed on the touch panel in order to draw and write an image and a character on the image of the display surface, the CPU repetitively detects a position of a touched point via the detection surface, and performs drawing processing dot by dot on the image data of the drawing area on the basis of the detection result.

Abstract: The present invention overcomes the deficiencies of the prior art with a system for varying hand-drawn line width as a function of geometric or temporal properties such as curvature or time of the strokes as the user draws them. In one embodiment, the system of the present invention includes a stroke control module, a velocity adjustment module, a curvature adjustment module, a smoothing module, an adjacency verification module and a stroke dominance module. A stroke control module is operable on a processor to modify the width of input strokes and adjust them based on their curvature and/or the velocity at which they were received. The stroke control module cooperates with and controls the velocity adjustment module, a curvature adjustment module, the smoothing module and the other modules to provide overall width adjustment of strokes input by the user automatically to reflect the needs and intentions of the user and provide a natural-feeling drawing experience similar to that provided by paper.

Abstract: The present invention provides a solution for controlling gridlines. Specifically, the present invention provides a user interface control such as a slider or the like that allows a user to simultaneously control both the style and intensity of a displayed set of grid lines. In a typical embodiment, the user interface control has a plurality of settings that each are associated with a particular intensity value and style value. In response to a manipulation by a user, the style and intensity of the set of grid lines will be controlled/changed accordingly. The values are disposed within/among a plurality of ranges, one or more of which can overlap. Manipulation of the user interface control within any of the overlapping portion(s) can result in the set of grid lines being displayed with multiple styles.

Abstract: A system and method for reorienting clusters within a display is provided. Clusters are maintained within a display. Each cluster includes a center located at a distance relative to a common origin for the display and a radius measured from the center. A pair of the clusters is selected and a bounding region is determined for each cluster in the pair by forming a pair of tangent vectors about the cluster and originating at the common origin. The bounding regions of the clusters in the pair are compared. The distance from the common origin of one of the clusters in the pair is increased upon overlap of the bounding regions as a perspective-corrected distance, which is determined as a function of the distances, the radii, and an angle between tangent vectors. The one cluster is moved to reorient the cluster's center at the perspective-corrected distance in the display.

Abstract: The Invention is a method for quantitative analysis of a mixture of molecular compounds by two-dimensional gas chromatography having application for quantitative analysis of products from the chemical or petroleum industry. A two-dimensional gas chromatography is carried out, during which a chromatographic signal is recorded. A chromatogram in two dimensions on which chromatographic peaks form spots is generated from the signal. These spots are defined by means of polygons. Then, for each polygon, chromatographic signal portions contained between two intersections of the polygon with columns of the chromatogram are extracted. Start and end times are defined for the chromatographic peaks present in these portions and the polygon is adjusted by shifting its intersection points according to the start and end times of the chromatographic peaks. Finally, molecular compound amounts are determined by calculating the surface area of the polygons thus adjusted.

Abstract: Motion capture animation, shape completion and markerless motion capture methods are provided. A pose deformation space model encoding variability in pose is learnt from a three-dimensional (3D) dataset. Body shape deformation space model encoding variability in pose and shape is learnt from another 3D dataset. The learnt pose model is combined with the learnt body shape model. For motion capture animation, given parameter set, the combined model generates a 3D shape surface of a body in a pose and shape. For shape completion, given partial surface of a body defined as 3D points, the combined model generates a 3D surface model in the combined spaces that fits the 3D points. For markerless motion capture, given 3D information of a body, the combined model traces the movement of the body using the combined spaces that fits the 3D information or reconstructing the body's shape or deformations that fits the 3D information.

Abstract: A method and system for estimating a screen refresh rate of a computing unit participating in an Internet-based collaboration. The computing unit receives a test image that includes pixels located at predefined positions and blinking at predefined frequencies. Measurements of the number of blinks of the pixels in a specified time period are collected. An average of the measurements summed over the predefined frequencies is calculated. A screen refresh rate is estimated by comparing the calculated average to a sum of multiple sums of simulated blinks of pixels in the specified time period. The average is closer to the sum than any of the other sums and the sum is associated with the estimated screen refresh rate.

Abstract: A processing architecture includes a first CPU core portion coupled to a second embedded dynamic random access memory (DRAM) portion. These architectural components jointly implement a single processor and instruction set. Advantageously, the embedded logic on the DRAM chip implements the memory intensive processing tasks, thus reducing the amount of traffic that needs to be bussed back and forth between the CPU core and the embedded DRAM chips. The embedded DRAM logic monitors and manipulates the instruction stream into the CPU core. The architecture of the instruction set, data paths, addressing, control, caching, and interfaces are developed to allow the system to operate using a standard programming model. Specialized video and graphics processing systems are developed. Also, an extended very long instruction word (VLIW) architecture implemented as a primary VLIW processor coupled to an embedded DRAM VLIW extension processor efficiently deals with memory intensive tasks.

Abstract: From fast moving objects in a video image sequence may appear slightly blurred. A multi-display system including two liquid crystal displays (LCDs) viewed simultaneously via a beam combiner reduces motion blur. The displays operate in time sequential relation, e.g., by alternately and sequentially displaying an image on one LCD while blanking the other LCD and vice versa, by alternately and sequentially turning on and off respective light sources illuminating the LCDs, or by both the foregoing. Alternate sequencing also can be achieved using active shutter glasses to distinguish images for viewing based on optical polarization, possibly with a delay to allow time for image stabilization. Another approach alternates displaying odd lines on a first LCD while blanking even lines and vice versa for the second LCD; and then switching to display even lines on the first LCD while blanking odd lines and vice versa for the second LCD.

A brightness edge detection/judgment unit detects an edge from this brightness signal, judges the kind of the edge, fetches a coefficient select signal corresponding to the judgment result from a memory and supplies the signal to the control processing unit. A tap coefficient corresponding to this coefficient select signal is set in the control processing unit and a triple over-sampling processing is executed for each of RGB. For edge parts, R and B sub-pixels the timings of which are displaced by ±1/3 pixel from the input R and B sub-pixels and the pixel gravitys of which are displaced by ±1/3 or ±1/8 pixel in accordance with the kind of the edge are generated.

Abstract: The values of each possible component output R, G, and B may be pre-computed for all values of each possible component input Y, U, and V. Each contribution of Y, U, and V input may then be loaded into a register and added in parallel, without overflow, resulting in a computationally inexpensive RGB output from a YUV input. In one embodiment, contributions of Y, U, and V to each of R, G, and B are retrieved from pre-computed tables. The YUV contributions for each value of R, G, and B are packed into three data elements and added together in parallel, resulting in a value for an RGB output.
