A sensor (52) provides a signal (54) responsive to a condition of fluid flowing through an outer cooling chamber (24) of the airfoil. A detected change in the condition of the fluid is correlated to a failure of the airfoil, which for example can be detected by measuring the static fluid pressure. An increase in the static pressure of fluid in the outer cooling chamber may indicate a breach in the region of the leading edge of the airfoil. A decrease in the static pressure of fluid in the outer cooling chamber may indicate a breach along other portions of the profile of the airfoil outer skin. Both pressure and temperature parameters of the fluid may be measured and coincident changes thereof correlated to a condition of failure of the airfoil.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for detecting a selected material in a sample are disclosed. In the method, the sample is placed adjacent a detector coil, for generating an electromagnetic time-domain signal composed of sample source radiation. The signal is first conditioned to convert the signal to an amplified conditioned signal from which frequency components above a selected frequency have been removed, then filtered to selectively pass low-frequency spectral components that are (i) in a frequency range between dc and 50 khz, and (ii) characteristic of the selected material. The filtered signal is cross-correlated with a data set of low-frequency spectral components that are (i) in a frequency range between dc and 50 khz, and (ii) characteristic of a selected material, to produce a frequency-domain spectrum in the frequency range within DC to 50 khz.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for delay-fault testing field programmable gate arrays (FPGA's), applicable both for off-line manufacturing and system-level testing, as well as for on-line testing within the framework of the roving self-test area (STARs) approach are described. In one described method, two or more paths under test receive a test pattern approximately simultaneously. The two paths are substantially identical and thus should propagate the signal in approximately the same amount of time. An output response analyzer receives the signal from each of the paths and determines the interval between them, and then determines whether a delay fault has occurred based at least in part on the interval. The output response analyzer may include an oscillator and a counter. The oscillator generates an oscillating signal during the interval between when the test signal propagates through the first path and the last path under test.

Such sensors may be distributed throughout a building to concurrently monitor multiple physical parameters at numerous locations. The sensors are easily manufactured, thus reducing sensor cost. The interconnect fabric in the many-core processor may be reconfigured to ensure a high level of connectivity among the selected cores.
