Abstract: A starter device for an internal combustion engine has a drive element and a output element. The drive element enables driving the starter device in rotation. The output element is supported rotatably about an axis of rotation and has a coupling device for releasably coupling the starter device to the crankshaft. A coil spring is arranged operatively between drive element and output element in an axial direction between a first abutment at the drive element and a second abutment at the output element. The first and second abutments have a first spacing relative to one another at least at one circumferential location in a first area and a second spacing relative to one another in a second area. The first and second spacings are measured parallel to the axis of rotation. The first spacing is smaller than the second spacing. The first area is radially outside of the second area.

Abstract: An engine with expansion piston located on the end of a motion arm connected to the engine shaft. On the shaft, rotating compression pistons are mounted. The distance between the two piston types allows for the production of great torque. The geometry of expansion chamber and compression chamber is concentric toroidal. A pressure chamber stores the air-fuel mixture coming from the compression chamber to the expansion chamber and is therefore interposed between the two. The timing of the two or more sliding ports attached to the compression chambers determines the compression volume, while the valves control the communication of the pressure chamber with the other chambers.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine, including a main combustion chamber serving as a main combustion chamber, an auxiliary combustion chamber adjacent to the main combustion chamber and smaller in capacity than the main combustion chamber, and a partition wall between the main combustion chamber and the auxiliary combustion chamber, the partition wall including an injection hole by which the main combustion chamber and the auxiliary combustion chamber communicate. A fuel supply device supplies fuel to the main combustion chamber and the auxiliary combustion chamber. A mixture forming device forms a mixture of air and the supplied fuel in the main combustion chamber, away from the partition wall before ignition. An ignition device ignites the fuel in the auxiliary combustion chamber, propelling an ejecting torch flame into the mixture of air and fuel in the main combustion chamber through the injection hole, thereby burning the mixture of air and fuel in the main combustion chamber.

Probes of different lengths may be used to correspond to different pressure capacities, and the inlet/latch assembly may be arranged either to permit the insertion of only probe size or may be arranged to accept both sizes but to function differently based on the size of the probe. The latches are inoperable except at or below a nominal pressure.

Abstract: The breathing assistance apparatus of the present invention includes a manifold that is provided with or retrofittable to gases supply and humidifying devices. The manifold allows gases from an oxygen concentrator to be combined with the flow through a gases supply and humidifying device, most usually air The combined output of oxygen and other breathing gases (air) is then humidified. The breathing assistance apparatus and manifold of the present invention provides a safe method to add oxygen to the input air stream of a gases supply and humidifying device and reduces the amount of accumulation of oxygen within the gases supply device, reducing fire risk should sparking occur within the device.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for controlling air supplied under pressure to a patient suffering from sleep disorders such as apnoea. The apparatus measures and/or calculates the inspiratory air flow, volume and pressure to the airway. Controlled pressurized air is supplied to the patient's upper anatomical airway, wherein the apparatus measures the air flow and pressure to the airway. The apparatus determines whether to increase or decrease the pressure to the patient's airway based on a determination of one or more factors, such as the occurrence of hypopnoea, hyperventilation, obstructive or central apnoea, air leakage and acoustical vibrations. Occurrences of events representing a sleep problem may be stored by the apparatus and retrieved by a clinician at a later date.
