  • Patent number: 7453987
Abstract: The systems and methods described herein automatically detect, highlight and identify high-Z materials in volume concentrations of approximately 100 cm3 or greater utilizing single and/or dual energy sources with x-ray and neutron detectors. The methods and systems described herein are applied to the imaging of containerized cargo and cargo vehicles. Pursuant to the described systems and methods, radiation powers are orders of magnitude lower than those used in the conventional systems. By reducing the radiation power by a factor of, for example, 100 or more, the shielding requirements for the system are greatly reduced, alignment requirements can be significantly relaxed and system components can be lighter weight and more modular. Consequently, system costs are reduced.

  • Patent number: 7453997
Abstract: Wireless internet services billing enables a telecommunications company to bill internet service events on a transaction level. In a described implementation, an internet service event, which occurs at least partially within an internet environment, is detected. An internet services proxy injects event billing information related to the detached event into an event billing information communication that is sent to a telecommunications billing gateway. At the telecommunications billing gateway, the event billing information is logged into an event billing log in association with an identity of a telecommunications user. By way of example, the event billing information may comprise an action indicator and an entity identifier. The action indicator indicates an action corresponding to the event, and the entity identifier identifies an entity that is associated with the event. The internet services proxy may be located at a telecommunications device of a user, at a provider of internet services, or both.

  • Patent number: 7453998
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for specifying and obtaining services through audio commands, resulting in a live conversation between a user and a selected service provider using an audio-transmission medium (the telephone). A service seeker locates a service provider by entering a keypad code corresponding to a field of service or by speaking the name of a profession, which is recognized by the system. The seeker can then specify, via voice or keypad entry, a price range, quality rating, language, and keyword descriptors of the service provider, such as a service provider code number. In response, the system offers currently available service providers. Once an available service provider is selected, the system connects the service seeker with the service provider for a live conversation. The system bills the seeker for the time spent conversing with the service provider and compensates the service provider accordingly.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling the use of unauthorized content, and specifically for controlling the display of content that is marked as “copy-never.” A compliant signal source transmits a video signal along with a secure timestamp to a compliant display device. The compliant display device determines whether the video signal is authorized to be displayed by determining the content management usage rights status in the video signal and the delay between when the video signal was transmitted and when it was received. In an embodiment of the invention, copy-never content that exceeds a defined delay between transmission and reception is prevented from being displayed.

Abstract: An encryption scheme that uses steganography includes an encryption algorithm that encrypts messages by embedding them in a data stream in such a way that an adversary cannot get information about the messages. Since the embedding is the only computation required, this scheme is optimal in computational efficiency. However, since the size of the data stream is large, this scheme is most beneficial when the cost of bandwidth is less expensive than the cost of computation. The scheme embeds the message as specified by a pseudo random generator.

  • Patent number: 7454021
Abstract: Described is a solution for maintaining the security of encrypted data despite a compromised private key by using a re-encryption process that does not require decryption of the encrypted data. The compromised private key is re-encrypted using a new public key as is the encrypted symmetric key which the compromised private key can decrypt. When a decrypted version of the encrypted data is requested, the private key corresponding to the new public key decrypts both the encrypted version of the compromised private key and the re-encrypted version of the symmetric key resulting in the unencrypted compromised private key and the previously encrypted version of the symmetric key, which when decrypted using the compromised private key decrypts the encrypted data. The unencrypted symmetric key can then be encrypted using the new public key any encrypted compromised private key can be deleted.

Abstract: In an audio processing arrangement (2) input signals from a plurality of input sources (4,6) are weighted by weighting factors x and y using weighting elements (10, 12). The weighted input signals are combined to a combined signal by an adder (18). The output signal of the adder (18) constitutes the output of the audio processing arrangement. In order to pronounce the signal with the strongest signal, the weighting coefficients (x,y) are controlled to maximize the output signal of the adder (18) under the constraint that the sum of the squares of the weighting coefficients is equal to a constant.

Abstract: Techniques for fabricating high frequency ultrasound transducers are provided herein. In one embodiment, the fabrication includes depositing a copperclad polyimide film, a layer of epoxy on the copperclad polyimide film, and a polyvinylidene fluoride film on the epoxy. The assembly of materials are then pressed to bond the polyvinylidene fluoride film to the copperclad polyimide film and to form an assembly. The polyvinylidene fluoride film being one surface and the copperclad polyimide film being the other surface. The area behind the copperclad polyimide film surface is filled with a second epoxy, and then cured to form an epoxy plug.

Abstract: In a loudspeaker device of the present invention, an interior space of a cabinet is parted into first and second chambers, a diaphragm on which ring-shaped magnetic boards are fixed is attached to a parting board via an edge portion, and ring-shaped fixed magnets are provided so as to face the magnetic boards, respectively. Vibration of the diaphragm vibrated by sound pressure from a speaker unit is intensified by forces of attraction of the magnets in order to reduce an acoustic stiffness of the cabinet and equivalently increase a cabinet volume, thereby realizing satisfactory bass reproduction with a small cabinet.

  • Patent number: 7454026
Abstract: Input digital sound signals are subjected to filtering for convolution of respective impulse responses, and the resulting signals are supplied to time delay setting circuits. In each of the time delay setting circuits, output signals from two adjacent stages of the time delay setting circuits, which correspond to a direction closest to a detected facing direction of a listener, are taken out as two pairs of signals. In crossfade processing circuits, the signals in each pair are added at a proportion depending on the detected facing direction of the listener. Output signals of the crossfade processing circuits are taken out through correction filters for compensating frequency characteristic changes in a high frequency range. As a result, when listening to sound with headphones and localizing a sound image at an arbitrary fixed position outside the listener's head, noises generated upon a change in the facing direction of the listener are reduced.
