  • Patent number: 7478604
Abstract: A process and apparatus improves the fertility of soil, helps detoxify hazardous chemicals in the soil, and reduces erosion of the soil. The system provides implantation apparatus for injecting or implanting water and earthworm cocoons in the soil. The depth at which cocoons are implanted is selected. The temperature of the ambient air and soil at the implantation depth is selected. A determination is made with respect to whether the soil is too wet for planting. Physical soil conditions are selected. The soil in which cocoons are being implanted is evaluated to determine the selected physical soil conditions, including the presence of chemicals known to be toxic to earthworms. Worm species are selected to improve selected ones of the soil conditions. Cocoons of the selected worm species are encapsulated. The encapsulated cocoons are placed in the implantation apparatus with water. Openings are made in the soil. The implantation apparatus implants water and cocoons in the openings.

  • Patent number: 7478618
Abstract: An engine balancer system is provided in which a balancer housing disposed so as to face an oil pan beneath a crankshaft is formed by joining an upper housing and a lower housing via mating faces, and the height of the mating faces is lower on a vehicle front side than on a vehicle rear side. Oil discharge holes or discharging oil that is within the balancer housing are formed in the mating faces on the higher side of the balancer housing and in the upper housing above the mating faces on the lower side of the balancer housing. This enables the position of the oil discharge hole on the lower side to be as high as possible, thereby suppressing penetration of oil into the interior of the balancer housing through the oil discharge hole.

  • Patent number: 7478619
Abstract: An internal combustion rotary engine is described, adapted to be used both for motor vehicles and ground machines (alternators, compressors, pumps and the like) or water craft or any type. The used fuels are the same of the presently used reciprocating engines. This engine comprises two rotors one inside the other, rotating in the same direction and at the same number of revolutions on two non concentric axes. The eccentricity between the two axes creates a crescent like chamber divided into four parts by four mobile elements mounted on the internal rotor, said elements being in turn constituted by two bodies that fit continuously to the inner surface of the external rotor thus ensuring the tight seal between the chambers. The efficiency of this motor is more than double of a reciprocating engine of the same displacement, with consequent halving of consumptions and emissions of carbon monoxide and dioxide.

  • Patent number: 7478620
Abstract: A method to operate a multi-cylinder direct-injection engine in one of a controlled auto-ignition and a spark-ignition combustion mode is described. Engine operation and an operator torque request are monitored. Fuel delivery to a portion of the cylinders is selectively deactivated and torque output from non-deactivated cylinders is selectively increased to achieve the operator torque request when the monitored engine operation is above a predetermined threshold. An engine operating point at which an engine load demand exceeds an operating capability of the engine in a stoichiometric HCCI mode is identified. The engine is selectively operated in an unthrottled spark-ignition mode with at least one cylinder unfueled and torque output from the remaining cylinders is selectively increased.

  • Patent number: 7478621
Abstract: A method for controlling the speed of internal combustion engines in heavy duty trucks and the like compensates for the overshoot, i.e., the difference between a targeted or commanded engine speed and a transient overspeed or underspeed. The method comprehends executing a program or subroutine where a throttle or engine speed change command is received by a controller, the engine speed change is monitored, a value of overshoot (on both an engine speed increase or decrease) is detected and the detected overshoot is subsequently utilized to temporarily reduce the speed change command, thereby effectively eliminating the overshoot and more positively and quickly arriving at the targeted engine speed.

  • Patent number: 7478623
Abstract: An engine ECU executes a program including a step of detecting an opening degree of an accelerator pedal and a state of a power generation command to MG, if a KCS feedback execution condition is met, and a step of detecting a KCS feedback correction amount eakcs, if the accelerator is off and if during power generation load operation, and then substituting a constant AKCSI for eakcs, if eakcs is larger than a threshold value and the ignition timing is on the advance side. Since the KCS feedback correction amount eakcs is adjusted not to be excessively on the advance side, the ignition timing can be retarded promptly at the time of accelerator on, thereby avoiding occurrence of knocking.

Preferably, the stencil is a flattened elongated stencil device that is formed from a resilient material, such as plastic polyurethane or rubber, and is capable of conforming to the curvature of a human head. In operation the stencil device is placed over the area of hair to be styled and the patterned edge of the stencil device is traced through the hair with a parting device. The hair is then separated along the trace with the parting device to created a hair style with a part patterned substantially similar the patterned edge of the stencil device used. The parting device preferably has a tip portion for tracing the part through the hair and a handle portion for separating the hair.

Abstract: A hair iron can give hair a sufficient amount of negative ions. The hair iron has a grip, and a hair-care section connected to the grip, having a heater for generating heat to hair for hair dressing. Further, it has a negative ion generator which generates negative ions due to discharge around an electrode therein to emit them toward hair held by the hair-care section. The hair-care section has a bar-like shape, and the heater is fixed to an outer surface of the bar-like shape. Then, by winding hair to the hair care section in the hair iron, hair dressing can be performed efficiently.

Abstract: There is provided a cover for umbrellas and the like. The assembly includes a nearly cylindrical cover made of a material or materials that can have at least one waterproof layer. The cover is closed at one end to itself or to the article to which it is permanently attached. The opposite end of the cover is open and is bound to a rigid to semi-rigid often-deformable ring-like structure. When not in use or dormant, the cover is considered inside out which is the side that is often most waterproof and it will lay in approximation to the article to which it is attached. When the cover is employed, the ring is disposed over the article and the cover's closed end and urged along the article to the end of said cover. Thusly, the cover is inverted exposing its dry, clean exterior.

Abstract: Absorbent plugs and caps plug or cap fittings that have been used to inject liquids into various systems. The plugs are sized to fit within the interior body cavity of fittings to absorb the residual liquid that is left in the cavity after use. The caps are sized to fit over the exterior of the fittings to absorb any residual liquid that leaks out from fitting exterior surfaces. The caps can also have interior plug extensions that extend into the interior cavities to also absorb the residual liquid from the interior. The plugs have non absorptive tabs for insertion and removal and the caps have non absorptive exterior skins or coverings to contain the absorbed liquid within the cap. One such use is to plug and/or cap fittings such as R134a service couplers which are used to inject dye into automotive air conditioning systems.
