  • Patent number: 7574928
Abstract: An air particle sample cassette enables concurrent or sequential collection of air particle samples. The dual air particle sample cassette has top and bottom covers that fit together to provide an airtight seal between them. The airtight seal may be provided by adhesive or otherwise. However, a close fit between the two also aids in obtaining an airtight seal. The top cover has tapering inlets circumscribed by channels. The inlets taper to create increased air speed at the exit slit of the inlets. The inlets have rounded tops for greater collection of air and the circumscribing channels provide means by which plastic caps or otherwise may be used to protect the inlets from collecting air until desired. The sample plate or collecting slide is fitted to the bottom of the top cover and obstructs the direct flow of air to the exit port. The collecting slide is protected from contact with other cassette elements by spacers or sidewalls which generally leave the corners of the bottom cover open.

  • Patent number: 7574930
Abstract: An explosive and narcotics detection system detects the presence of trace particles of materials that are adhering to surfaces. In order to detect such particles, to the particles are first dislodged or released from the surface, then transported to the detection instrument, and then accumulated on or in a particle collection device. When the sample collecting system and the target surface are in relative motion across the line-of-sight greater than fifteen centimeters per second, non-contact sample collection may be accomplished using a vortex or vortex attractor particle collector together with a plurality of air or aerosol jets. A plurality of large diameter vortex collectors may obtain samples at relative line-of-sight velocities greater than five feet per second over a large surface area and for a complex-shaped surface.

  • Patent number: 7574934
Abstract: A missing hole detector to detect a missing or misplaced hole in a (e.g., sheet metal) workpiece. The missing hole detector is preferably located at a punching station within the upper turret of a CNC punch press. A pushing force generated during the downstroke of a ram causes a test probe of the missing hole detector to move towards the workpiece under test. A switching circuit connected to a transmitter is responsive to the movement of the test probe. If the test probe is moved into a hole so as to penetrate the workpiece, the switching circuit is opened and the transmitter is disabled. If the test probe is otherwise moved into contact with but fails to penetrate the workpiece because a hole is absent or misplaced, the switching circuit is closed and the transmitter is energized. The transmitter now transmits a stream of data by way of an RF wireless communication path to a receiver.

Abstract: A roll mounting apparatus for the lower bale forming roll of a round baler enabling the roll to be selectively installed in one of two positions using common mounting components. The normal roll mounting aperture in the side wall allowing the roll shaft ends to extend therethrough is elongated to permit limited radial movement of the shaft. A reversible adapter connected to the main frame (one on each main frame side wall) at each end of the shaft covers a portion of the elongated aperture and provides a mounting connector (threaded hole) to replace a fastener receptacle eliminated by elongation of the aperture. By repositioning the adapter, the shaft may be displaced radially to one of two positions, thereby allowing the roll to be installed in an optimum location for the crop material or to enable manufacturing flexibility. The roll can easily be relocated to the other position, as necessary, using bolted connections securing the adapter to the side walls and the roll shaft bearing to the frame and adapter.

Abstract: A folding table includes two tabletop halves pivotally joined together at an axle, with one or more legs connected to each half. A transport member, such as a wheel is mounted on the axle. To transform the table from an “in-use” condition to a “transport” condition, the legs are collapsed to seat adjacent to the underside of the associated tabletop half. The tabletop halves are then pivoted toward each other until the undersides are in facing relationship to each other. So pivoting the tabletop halves exposes the transport member, which can be positioned against the ground to roll or slide the table to a different location.

Abstract: An emergency rescue device and system are provided comprising a plurality of reflective emergency rescue strands. The plurality of reflective strands are housed within a canister. An activation element deploys the reflective strands away from the user in a multi-directional pattern. In the case of an avalanche victim, the reflective strands enable immediate visual identification of the general location of the victim. A rescuer may then pull on one of the exposed strands to exactly locate the victim. The reflective strands may be ejected away from the user in a number of ways to include activation of a combustible propellant, an explosive charge, or compressed source of gas integrated within the canister. Alternatively, a plurality of compressed springs within the canister may be used to eject the reflective strands, or the user may manually deploy the strands.
