  • Patent number: 7648169
Abstract: A motorcycle includes a guard frame provided near an upper portion of a vehicle body of the motorcycle that is arranged to reduce or prevent damage to the components of the motorcycle in the event of an overturn of the motorcycle. The guard frame includes a pair of guard frame rails, each rail extending in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle body. A connecting portion connects the rear end portions of the rails. The front end portion of each rail is fixed to a body frame of the motorcycle. The connecting portion is supported by the body frame for pivotal movement about a pivot axis. The rails have a normal bow shape that projects outwardly. In some arrangements, an intermediate portion of each rail is formed of a material having lower rigidity than a material of the front and rear end portions of the rail.

  • Patent number: 7648171
Abstract: A seat belt buckle system includes a seat belt with a latch plate, and a seat belt buckle assembly. The seat belt buckle assembly includes a buckle head for receiving the latch plate, a scabbard covering a portion of the buckle head, and a buckle stalk connecting the buckle head to a vehicle body portion. The scabbard includes at least one tear seam located at an intersection of the first wall and the third wall. The scabbard is configured such that a separation force of the tear seam is less than a buckling load of the scabbard, such that when the buckle is impacted and undergoes a shock load during buckle pretensioning, the tear seam will separate and allow the buckle head to slide down the ramped surface preventing a shock load from a hard contact point that would cause the latch plate to delatch from the buckle head.

  • Patent number: 7648172
Abstract: A kit for manufacturing a stitch-bound printed book comprises a book cover (10), a collection of pre-perforated sheets (15) that can be printed to make up a printed bookblock (18), and endpapers (20a,20b) for assembling the printed bookblock in the cover. The pre-perforated loose sheets (15) have along one edge that corresponds to the book's spine a series of binding perforations (16). The pre-perforated loose sheets (15) are printable on one or both sides in an A4 printer to constitute printed pages of the book. A bookblock (18) is formed by reconstituting the printed pre-perforated pages as a collection with their perforations (16) aligned and by sewing through the perforations (16). This involves stitch-binding of individual sheets (15) instead of the usual stitch-binding of folded sheets, which makes it feasible to print the prepared collection of pre-perforated sheets using desktop publishing equipment.

  • Patent number: 7648173
Abstract: An adjustable book cover (10) consisting of a unitary hexagonal sheet of stretchable fabric (16) that is preferably coated with an elastomeric polyurethane resin (15). Interstices (19) of the fabric (16) are filled with at least a single layer of polyurethane resin (15), creating an impermeable waterproof barrier while maintaining the elastic functionality of the book cover (10). The hexagonal sheet has flap portions defined by fold lines (44,46,48) that delineate a laterally formed rectangle within the fabric polygon. Extended edges of the upper and lower shaped flap portions are each bisected by a slot (41) of predetermined depth, thus forming an access aperture (21) for the covers of a book when selected flap portions of the hexagon are secured together.

Abstract: A bicycle hub includes a wheel securing structure having a retaining arrangement disposed with respect to the hub axle and a wheel securing shaft member. The retaining arrangement overrideably prevents the shaft member from being axially removed from the hub axle when in a predetermined position within the through bore of the hub axle. In other words, the retaining arrangement is arranged to releasably restrict relative axial movement between the shaft member and the hub axle when the shaft member is disposed in the through bore of the hub axle in a predetermined position so that unintended displacement of the wheel securing shaft structure from the hub axle is prevented during use of the wheel securing shaft structure.

  • Patent number: 7648212
Abstract: This apparatus is applied to a vehicle brake apparatus provided with a hydraulic booster operated by utilizing an accumulator hydraulic pressure that is adjusted to a predetermined high pressure (not less than a lower limit value) by a drive control of a hydraulic pump. This apparatus executes an automatic pressurization control by controlling plural solenoid valves with the use of the accumulator hydraulic pressure. The increasing slope of the brake hydraulic pressure during the automatic pressurization control is determined on the basis of the vehicle motion state. The increasing slope is restricted to be not more than a predetermined restriction value, in the case where the accumulator hydraulic pressure at the time of starting the automatic pressurization control is less than “a reference hydraulic pressure that is greater than a minimum value of the accumulator hydraulic pressure necessary for assisting the brake operation by the hydraulic booster and smaller than the lower limit value”.

In response to the one or more of the nozzles being out, the print media is micro-linefed between at least two printing passes of the printhead when the printhead is substantially in position to print onto a margin section of the print media. The micro-linefeeding includes activation of a print media feed means to advance the print media for a distance that is substantially smaller than a normal advance of the print media, to thereby reduce printing defects in the margin section caused by one or more nozzles that are out.
