Abstract: A method of sampling and confining chemical contaminations intended for the chemical analysis of contaminations in particulate and/or molecular form with prior adsorption by a support or trapping in a liquid. The adsorbent support or the contaminated liquid is then held in position in a closed box or sealed container having chemically inert walls. The outside of the closed box or sealed container is brought into contact with a gas at a higher pressure than the pressure inside the box or container and then the temperature inside the closed box or sealed container is regulated from an environment external to the gas.

Abstract: A mechanical linear actuator having a tubular member that is defined by a housing for rotatably and axially supporting a circular nut, a lead screw is mated to the circular nut so that it can move axially in and out of the tubular member. A torsion spring clutch brake is wound about the circular nut to normally brake the nut and thus prevent the lead screw from moving into or out of the tubular member. An unlocking mechanism can remotely unwind the torsion spring clutch brake to sufficiently release the circular nut and thus allow the lead screw to pass in and out of the tubular member. An adjustable stop is provided for adjusting the stroke of the actuator.

Abstract: An adjustable accessory fence for a miter saw includes a generally rectangular, elongated arm having a front surface, an opposing rear surface, a stop extending from the rear surface, a tapered end, an opening extending between the front and rear surfaces, and a plurality of threads disposed within the opening. A threaded set screw engages the threads of the arm and adjustably projects from the rear surface of the arm. The arm is detachably coupled to a cutting fence of the miter saw. The arm pivots about the stop when the set screw is adjusted to project from the rear surface of the arm and contact the cutting fence, the front surface of the arm providing a cutting guide having an adjustable angular relationship with respect to the cutting fence, said angular relationship being established by the projecting position of the set screw.

Abstract: A rotational positioning and locking mechanism for the cutter arm component of a cutting workstation. This allows the cutter to be capable of rotation producing a variety of miter cuts. The cutter positioning and locking mechanism will allow positioning of the cutter in a variety of predetermined angles based on holes or stops in the cutter arm into which the lock is inserted. Should it be desired the cutter be placed at an angle that has not been predetermend, a friction shoe will allow the cutter arm to be rotated and positioned and any angle between the angles predetermined by the stops.

Abstract: A piercing device and method is provided which can be used to form apertures in formed members. In particular, it is believed that the present invention is particularly suited for forming apertures in hydro-formed members. The piercing device of the present invention advantageously occupies relatively little volume, allowing multiple piercing devices to be located within relatively small volumes about a hydro-forming die, or the like. The device and method can be used to perform complete pierces, wherein the slug is removed from the formed member, or to perform partial pierces, wherein the slug is maintained captive in place until removed by a subsequent manufacturing operation. The present invention also provides for a negative pierce to be achieved, during the hydro-forming process, prior to the pierce operation being performed. This negative pierce results in a reduction in the force required to perform the pierce operation and thus permits the use of a smaller hydraulic ram, or the like.

Abstract: For producing a cylindrical surface that has a surface structure of predetermined geometry suitable for application of material by thermal spraying, a geometrically predetermined groove structure of minimal depth and width is introduced into the surface by a tool embodied as a follow-on tool in that a groove cross-section is processed successively to a final size. In order for the surface to be producible in mass production with constant quality, the groove structure is worked in such that first a base groove is introduced with a groove bottom width that is smaller than the groove bottom width of the finished groove. Subsequently, at least one flank of the base groove is processed for producing an undercut groove profile by a non-cutting action or cutting action wherein the introduced groove structure is deformed in such a way that the groove openings are constricted by upsetting deformations of material.

Abstract: Disclosed is an audio device that adjusts the cadence of played songs. All songs in a playlist may be adjusted to match the cadence of a particular song. First, the desired cadence of a reference song is determined by low pass filtering a digital representation of the reference song and determining the period (T) of the back beat of the reference song. The cadence of subsequent songs is then determined by low pass filtering digital representations of the subsequent songs and determining the period (T) of the back beat of the subsequent songs. An adjustment of the period (T) of the subsequent songs is then determined such that the adjustment of the period (T) of the subsequent songs results in the subsequent songs having the desired cadence (i.e., the cadence of the reference song). The period (T) of the back beat of the subsequent songs are then adjusted.
