    Abstract: A jacket sleeve with grippable tabs provides protection to exposed portions of cable that are connected to an electrical connection. The jacket sleeve can be made as part of the electrical connector or may be connected subsequent to its creation through the use of glues or other adhesives. The jacket sleeve can be made of a material that is more pliable than the electrical connector, making it easier for a lineperson to place the sleeve over an exposed portion of cable. The jacket sleeve can include holes or slots either in the sleeve or in tabs that are attached to the sleeve. A lineperson can place one or more fingers into each hole or slot in order to get a better grip on the sleeve and pull the sleeve over the exposed portion of cable with less slippage and effort on the part of the lineperson.

    Abstract: The present instant reading oil dipstick automatically extracts a representative column of oil from the crankcase oil reservoir. Such is done inside of a translucent fluoroplastic tube. A machined brass slide valve, with sealing O-rings, fits inside of the metal dipstick tubing leading into the engine crankcase. When the dipstick is withdrawn for checking oil level, the slide valve automatically closes over an air vent in the plastic tubing, thus preventing the oil that is inside the bottom of the tubing from running out. The oil level can be ascertained, easily—even in low light levels—without having to wipe off the oil from the outside of the dipstick, and without having to reinsert the dipstick one or more times.

    Abstract: A new kind of greeting card uses the stock removed from a cut opening to create a raised portion on another page. To make the card, a die cuts around a portion of the perimeter of an area on the stock that will be transferred to form the raised portion of the card. This transfer area is temporarily left in place in its original position on the stock. Adhesive is applied to an adhesive area on either the back of the transfer area or on the portion of the stock that will form the page where the transfer area will be adhered. When the stock is folded into a card, the adhesive is sandwiched between the back of the transfer area and the portion of the stock where the transfer area is to be adhered. When the card is opened, the transfer area is separated from its original position, creating a cut opening on one page of the card. The adhesive holds the transfer area to the other page, creating a raised portion on that page. In a multi-page card, transfer areas from multiple pages can be stacked on top of each other.
