  • Patent number: 7748122
Abstract: A folding knife incorporates an opening assist mechanism that functions to drive the blade from the closed to the open position. A pair of torsion springs held axially on the blade axis pin and within a pair of bushings are stationary relative to the knife handle. One leg of each spring is fixed to a bushing. The opposite leg of the spring rides in a pocket formed in the surface on the blade axially around the opening through which the blade axis pin is inserted. As the blade rotates from the closed position toward the open position, the legs of the springs rotate through and cooperate with structures formed on the bushings to transfer the spring pressure instantly to the blade to drive the blade open.

The elongated seal is attached to the bottom surface of the exterior wall system, and it includes an extended, flexible, resilient seal which seals it against the outside of the foundation wall, thereby creating a pest treatment zone between the foundation wall and the lowest portion of said exterior siding material. Pesticide foam is injected into the pest treatment zone through holes which are spaced along the bottom of the seal or which extend through the exterior siding. The pesticide foam fills the pest treatment zone to provide perimeter protection.

  • Patent number: 7748163
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treating seeds, comprising the following steps: (a) a sterilization step wherein, for 0.1 to 60 seconds and at a minimum pressure of 0.5 bar absolute, the seeds are contacted with a condensing medium having a condensation temperature of 80-200 DEG C, wherein the medium condenses on the seeds and the temperature of the surface of the seeds is raised to 200 DEG C at most; and (b) a cooling step wherein the sterilized seeds obtained in step (a) are cooled, wherein the temperature of the surface of the seeds is lowered, within 30 seconds at most, to 50 DEG C at most, and wherein the conditions of steps (a) and (b) are set such that the germination capacity of the seeds is relatively preserved or increases. The invention further relates to seeds obtainable with the method according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 7748165
Abstract: A device (1) for production of seedlings from seeds comprises a drum (3), with perforated walling, rotatable about the drum axis (4), disposed substantially horizontally, borne in a housing (2). In this drum (3) seeds are able to be filled, which seeds are able to be immersed in a water bath (5) together with the drum (3). For this purpose, the drum (3) rotates, whereupon the seeds and the seedlings sprouting therefrom are optimally turned and dispersed. The drum (3) is mounted on a support, which, along guide means fixed to the housing, is lowerable into the water bath (5) and liftable out of the same again by drive means. The drum (3) is thereby partly submerged in the water bath (5) in the lower position, whereas it is completely lifted out of the water bath (5) in the raised position. An optimal wetting and subsequent drying of the seeds is thus obtained in turn.
