Abstract: The invention discloses an optical sensing screen for selectively sensing an object and a light pen. A first photo-emitter is disposed in a light pen for emitting a first light. The optical sensing screen includes a panel, an illuminating device, at least two first photo-sensing devices, and a processor. The illuminating device is used to form a background light source. The first photo-sensing devices are used to detect the first light and the background light source. The processor is capable of calculating the coordinate of the object according to the interdicted background light source. When any of the first photo-sensing devices detects the light pen, the processor will drive the illuminating device not to form the background light source and to calculate the coordinate of the first photo-emitter according to the detected first light.

Abstract: An objective of the present invention is to prevent the occurrence of horizontal streaks in a screen of a display device that implements pseudo impulse display by performing black insertion. In a display device that implements pseudo impulse display by performing black insertion, a gate driver applies to each gate bus line a scanning signal including a pixel data write pulse (Pw) for writing pixel data to a pixel formation portion and black voltage application pulses (Pb) for writing a black voltage, based on a gate output control signal (GOE). Here, when the polarity of a polarity control signal (REV) is the same for two consecutive horizontal scanning periods, the gate output control signal (GOE) is maintained at a high level. When the gate output control signal (GOE) is at a high level, the gate driver inhibits a black voltage application pulse (Pb) from being generated in all the scanning signals.

A rendering application provides computational infrastructure for rendering operations that includes finding an intersected object for each pixel of a target graphics image. The modular shader architecture includes a means for efficiently developing and incorporating custom shader modules for use by the rendering application.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to templates for creating sequin-based designs and methods of use thereof. In one embodiment, the template may be a first panel which includes a plurality of cylindrical protrusions uniformly spaced thereon. A second panel may be removably coupled to a backside of the first panel. Each cylindrical protrusion may include an opening capable of receiving a shaft of a pin. In one method, a plurality of sequins or paillettes may be removably attached to the plurality of cylindrical protrusion by insertion of each pin into an opening in the sequin followed by insertion of the pin shaft into the opening of the raised cylinder. A plurality of templates tiled together with a plurality of sequins attached thereto may result in a photographic sequin-based design.

Abstract: A device generates an immutable display graph with leaves of the display graph representing low-level graphical operations such as drawings lines or a bitmap and nodes of the display graph representing translation and clipping. Because the display graph is immutable, it can be cached, shared, and rendered quickly. The structure of the display remains fixed, but elements such as rectangle fill, text position, clipping area, translation, and image location, remain time varying and can change without affecting the structure of the display.

Abstract: A LCD includes: a display panel and a signal controller. The display panel includes n pixels arranged in a matrix, wherein n is a natural number. The signal controller sequentially receives first through 2n-th pixel image signals, sequentially calculates a difference between a k-th pixel image signal and a (n+k)-th pixel image signal, recognizes the (n+k)-th pixel image signal as a motion signal when the difference is greater than a first reference value and recognizes the (n+k)-th pixel image signal as a non-motion signal when the difference is equal to or less than the first reference value, and determines whether the (n+k)-th pixel image signal is a moving-image signal based on numbers of motion signals and non-motion signals recognized. An image signal of a previous frame includes the first through n-th pixel image signals and an image signal of a current frame includes the (n+1)-th through 2n-th pixel image signals.

Abstract: In a display apparatus such as PDP, in order to obtain well-lighted video while suppressing an increase in power consumption, the luminance level of a specific region of a display panel is decreased in accordance with an average luminance level of the entire display panel. However, when a low-luminance region and a high-luminance region are mixed in display video, even the luminance of the low-luminance region is decreased and gray-scale crush is caused in some cases. An average luminance level for each region is detected, and a shading process is controlled for each region based on the detected region-specific average luminance level and the luminance level of input video. With this control, when the luminance level of the input video signal is higher than a predetermined threshold, the shading process is operated, and when the luminance level is lower than the predetermined threshold, the shading process is stopped.

Abstract: The embodiments of the present disclosure teach overlaying videos on a display device. The technique involves one or more buffers at input such as a first buffer (Primary Buffer) and an overlay buffer, a blitting module, a second buffer(Frame Buffer), and a display screen. The first buffer provides a first image data to the blitting module and the overlay buffer provides a second image data to the blitting module. The embodiments of the present disclosure demonstrate overlaying the second image on the first image with enhanced configurable functionality (like stretching, clipping, color keying, Alpha Blending and Raster Operation) if required, without modifying the Primary Buffer without the need of any overlay support in hardware.
