  • Patent number: 7794293
Abstract: A marine propulsion system having a simple configuration and high energy efficiency and a marine vessel having the same. A detonation device for generating a detonation wave and a detonation wave discharger for releasing a detonation wave generated in the detonation device into the water so as to propel the marine vessel. When a detonation wave generated in the detonation device is discharged into the water by the detonation wave discharger, the discharged detonation wave pushes against the water, so a thrust pushing against a hull is generated as a reaction to the pushing force. A large-scale mechanism such as a propulsion system using a mechanical drive mechanism such as a screw or a propulsion system for generating a high pressure gas by utilizing a compressor is not needed, so the configuration can be simplified. Further, the water is pushed away by the detonation wave, so turbulence becomes hard to occur in the water, and the loss of the energy due to turbulence can be greatly reduced.

  • Patent number: 7794296
Abstract: A method to assemble a marine drive system wherein an acceptable-unacceptable criterion on the torsional vibration of a shaft of the marine drive system is established based on the correlation between the torsional stiffness of a propeller shaft and the moment of inertia of a propeller. A desirable elastic coupling for the marine drive shaft is selected based on the criterion. The marine drive system is assembled by using a flywheel, a marine reverse and reduction gear, and an elastic coupling, whose property is changeable, lying between an input shaft of the marine reverse and reduction gear and the flywheel.

  • Patent number: 7794297
Abstract: A sectionalized surfboard, which can be dismantled into sections and rejoined for use. The sections are joined using one or more metal hooks and metal plates with slots in each section on the bottom of the board. On the top of the board there are one or more pairs of top metal plates in each section joined by a vertically installed bolt(s). Inserting the hook(s) into the slot(s) in the bottom metal plate(s) connects the bottom of the board. The top of the board is connected by a bolt passing vertically through a hole in one section's top metal plate and screwed into a threaded hole in the other section's top metal plate. The metal plates extend into the board and are securely bonded to the skin and foam of the boards. The metal plates can also be bonded to any board stringers. In a second version the top is joined using two bolts. Both sections have threaded holes in their top metal plates. A separate third metal plate with two holes is used with the two bolts to join the top of the board.

For example, when a communication game is interrupted, a player closes his/her own game apparatus. In such a case, prior to setting of a sleep mode, the game apparatus notifies all other game apparatuses of the interruption of the communication game, and then the game apparatus saves parameters necessary to execute a game main processing program to interrupt the execution of the game main processing program. When the other game apparatuses receive the notification on the interruption of the communication game, the other game apparatuses save the parameters to interrupt the execution of the game main processing program. In resuming the communication game, the respective game apparatuses read the saved parameters to resume the execution of the game main processing program.

Abstract: A baseball hitter batting practice apparatus incorporates an unbalanced and potentially non-planar plurality of targets which are mounted onto a spindle. The spindle rotates about a central generally horizontal axle. The unbalanced targets in one embodiment are spaced at ninety-degree intervals from an adjacent target, thereby causing the spindle to first spin in one direction after a target has been struck, and then to oscillate or rock alternately clockwise and counterclockwise before finally coming to a rest. Striking selected targets in accord with the method of the invention teaches a batter to pull-the-trigger at the appropriate time. A novel support further enhances the utility of the spindle and targets by enabling the spindle to be coupled to many diverse supporting poles and structures.
