Abstract: A protective garment, such as a body armor vest, equipped with a quick-release system comprising a front portion, a rear portion, and a plurality of connectors for releasably attaching the front portion to the rear portion. Each connector includes a ring and a releasable hook, wherein the ring can be releasably clasped by the releasable hook. The protective garment further includes a pull cord, which can be attached to and capable of disengaging, at least two of the plurality of connectors to allow detachment of the front portion from the rear portion.

Abstract: A protective wrist guard for protecting the wrist portion of a wearer's body formed of a tubular sleeve having a lower opening and an upper opening; a pocket on the inside of the tubular sleeve, and a rigid, impact absorbing armor plate sized and shaped to be positioned in the pocket; the armor plate being contoured and shaped to fit the wrist configurations of the wearer.

More particularly, the present invention creates a hands-free support and concealment to the drain collection reservoir or other medical device, without dismantling and threading a drain tube, enabling the patient to bathe unencumbered, perform physical or occupational therapies, provides patient confidence by providing concealment under the hospital gown or normal outer garments, earlier patient mobility, or positioning ease for x-ray examinations.

Abstract: A pair of medical-patient shorts that are opened entirely at the right and left outside seams, while allowing the rear, front, and crotch seams to remain intact, is disclosed. The shorts include the use of a stuttered series of hook-and-pile patches that largely define the outer seams of the shorts, which are largely comprised of a front fabric panel and a rear fabric panel. The design of the outside side seams to enhance user comfort and to make access to the patient's body, dressing, etc. more convenient. In addition, the shorts provide features to provide convenient physical support for medical apparatuses, such as drainage bags and tubing, for example. Finally, associated methods of use for the medical-patient shorts are disclosed.

When closed, the pant fastener provides a snug fit, holding up the pants or skirt, without the need to thread the fastener through all of the belt loops, as is the case with an ordinary belt. Because the pant fastener does not cross the fly, the pants or skirt can be undone in a hurry, enabling children especially to take them off quickly. Abstract: A system for moving a patient in a hospital or other care facility from a first flat surface to a second flat surface using a pulling apparatus and a modified reusable bed pad. The bed pad includes horizontal and vertical flexible reinforcing members sewn their entire length into the pad so as to form a grid of reinforcing members. At the end of each reinforcing member is a loop. The pulling apparatus comprises an electric motor and transmission developing adequate torque to pull the patient the required distance. The pulling apparatus uses two hook and strap combinations wound onto pulleys. The hooks engage the loops of the modified bed pad for pulling. A single operator may then move a patient from one surface to another.

Abstract: A multi-purpose air mattress apparatus is disclosed for use in at least a bed of a vehicle having an opposing pair of inwardly protruding wheel wells. The apparatus comprises, in one embodiment, an inflatable air mattress having a pair of opposing sidewalls, each defining a lateral recess sized for accepting at least a portion of the wheel wells therewithin and further defining recess ledges that selectively sit atop the wheel wells. With the apparatus positioned within the vehicle bed and the wheel wells positioned at least partially within the lateral recesses, the recess ledges in combination with a perimeter ledge cover substantially any exposed portions of the wheel wells, while a set of upper and lower perimeter chambers further maintain a stable structure of the apparatus during use both within a vehicle bed as well as on any other relatively flat surface in otherwise conventional fashion.

Abstract: An operating table includes a base, a support post standing on the base, and a bed. The bed has a head section, a back section, a hip section and a foot section. The back section and the foot section respectively connect with ends of the hip section through pivot joints and are pivotable relative to the hip section upward and downward. The foot section has a rear section and a front section connecting with each other, and is pivotable either upward to an angle of less than 135 degree with respect to the hip section. The rear section is detachable separately, and an angle of the front section with respect to the hip section is adjustable via a pivot joint. The foot section can be shortened to support downward weight of the patient reliably. Moreover, a surgeon can adjust angles between the patient's legs and hip easily during the operation.

The upper support padding may include a head support pillow and a bedding support, where said bedding support extends the entire length of the placement device. In one exemplary embodiment, the head support pillow may include a first side which is substantially flat and a second side which is substantially concaved. In yet another exemplary embodiment, the head support pillow may include an audio system.

More specifically, the invention provides a method and apparatus for an adjustable mattress that allows the user to increase or decrease the firmness of the mattress. Furthermore, the adjustable mattress has zones of adjustability thereby allowing two users to adjust the firmness of the mattress of each user's zone. The adjustable mattress is also multimodal. The motorized foundation contains adjustable massaging units that may be used for physical therapy and relaxation. Likewise, the motorized foundation may be used in relax mode to assist in obtaining sleep and awaken mode to gently awake the user by the stimulation of the adjustable mattress.

Abstract: A method for treating laundry with washing lye uses a washing machine having a lye discharge system disposed on a base of a lye container, a pivotally supported drum, and a heating device for the direct heating of a load of laundry containing the washing lye. The method includes adding the washing lye to the load in an amount smaller or equal to an amount required for saturation of the laundry with water (“saturation amount”), wetting the laundry, and heating the wetted laundry via the heating device. Water is added at a temperature of no more than 40 degrees Celsius for rinsing the washing lye from the laundry. A washing machine is also configured to be suitable for carrying out the method.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a washing machine and a control method thereof. The control method effectively transmits high-concentration wash liquid to laundry, while minimizing the amount of water used, through washing using bubbles, and maximizes the increase in volume of the wash liquid rubbed on the inner circumferential surface of the drum using the generation of bubbles and the rotation of the drum to raise the water level of the wash liquid without additional water.

More particularly, provided is a flexible wire which is inserted in a pipe and rotated in a high speed during operation of an apparatus to remove scale produced in the pipe by striking. The flexible wire for removing scale in pipe includes: a main wire line which is formed by alternately winding a central wire line with clockwise and counterclockwise wires along a longitudinal direction of the central wire line; an auxiliary wire line which is a single line having a diameter smaller than that of the main wire line and extends in a longitudinal direction of the main wire line; and an outermost wire which winds the auxiliary wire line so as to bind the auxiliary wire line and the main wire line. Accordingly, a diameter of rotation becomes large due to a centrifugal force at a high speed rotation, so that scale produced in a large-diameter pipe can be effectively removed. In addition, a scale removing ability can be greatly improved.
