Abstract: An RF inductor such as a Tesla antenna splices nanotube ends together to form a nanostructure in a polymer foam matrix. High Internal Phase Emulsion (HIPE) is gently sheared and stretched in a reactor comprising opposed coaxial counter-rotating impellers, which parallel-align polymer chains and also carbon nanotubes mixed with the oil phase. Stretching and forced convection prevent the auto-acceleration effect. Batch and continuous processes are disclosed. In the batch process, a fractal radial array of coherent vortices in the HIPE is preserved when the HIPE polymerizes, and helical nanostructures around these vortices are spliced by microhammering into longer helices. A disk radial filter produced by the batch process has improved radial flux from edge to center due to its area-preserving radial vascular network. In the continuous process, strips of HIPE are pulled from the periphery of the reactor continuously and post-treated by an RF inductor to produce cured conductive foam.

Abstract: According to the state of the art, piezoceramic multi-layer elements are sintered in air at temperatures of approximately 1100 DEG C or higher. Therefore, only a noble metal having a high melting temperature can be used as the inner electrode. Non-noble metals would oxidize. Therefore, a silver-palladium alloy having up to 40% palladium is normally used. However, such a measure is associated with high material costs. Lower melting temperatures of the inner electrode material, however, also require a ceramic material having correspondingly low sintering temperatures. The invention therefore proposes that an electrically non-conductive sintering additive added be added to the base material, and that the inner electrode comprise silver, preferably pure silver, as the main material component thereof, and an electrically non-conductive material component and/or a metal alloy or metal oxide mixture.

The twisted nematic liquid crystal layers reflect infrared radiation. Thus, the multilayer laminates are useful to reduce the transmission of infrared energy. For example, in some embodiments the multilayer laminates are useful as windows to reduce energy consumption necessary to cool the interior of a structure such as an automobile or building. Preferably, the multilayer laminates retain the beneficial properties of safety glass. The multilayer laminates may include additional layers such as infrared absorbing layers, half wave plates, and the like, to minimize the transmission of infrared energy. A first member 2 comprised of a transmissive thermoplastic resin that transmits a laser beam is brought into contact with a second member 3 comprised of an absorptive thermoplastic resin that absorbs a laser beam. Contact surfaces 4 are melted with a laser beam so as to join the two members. At least the contact surfaces 4 of the two members are pre-heated by a pre-heating means 20 at a temperature lower than the melting temperature of the contact surfaces. The contact surfaces 4 are then irradiated with a laser beam R generated by a laser beam generator 10 that is shone from the side of the first member so as to melt at least one of the contact surfaces of the two members.

Abstract: To improve the etch resistance of a resist pattern corresponding to an exposure light source with a short wavelength. After a resist film on a substrate is exposed to light and developed to form a resist pattern, a treatment step of supplying a fluorine-based liquid to the surface of the resist pattern is performed. Thereafter, an etching treatment of a base film using the resist pattern as a mask is performed. This increases the density of fluorine molecules on the surface of the resist pattern before the etching treatment to improve the etch resistance of the resist pattern.

A workpiece to be laminated passes through a guide slot formed between the upper and lower guide plates, wherein the upper guide plate can be pushed upward, and a micro switch is provided above the upper guide plate for controlling the rotation of roller sets. If the workpiece is too thick or is somehow impeded such that the workpiece creases, the upper guide plate will be pushed upward by the workpiece and therefore touches the micro switch. As a result, another circuit is activated to rotate the roller sets reversely and thereby eject the workpiece. Hence, not only is the laminating machine protected and saved from a lot of maintenance work, but also precious paper documents, such as photos, in the workpiece are well preserved.
