Abstract: A plate heat exchanger (10) of the double plate type having a plurality of stacked plate elements, each comprising a first plate (1) and a second plate (9). At least the first plate (1) is provided with a surface pattern with a plurality of dimples (5) defining a first distance to a plate plane (8), and a plurality of canal parts (6) defining a second, smaller, distance to the plate plane (8). The first plate (1) and the second plate (9) are joined in such a manner that the protruding areas (5, 6) in combination form flow paths (11) being fluidly connected to rim portions (3) of the plates (1, 9). The heat exchanger (10) provides efficient leakage detection via the flow paths (11) while ensuring a good thermal contact between heat exchanging fluids through the plates (1, 9) via flat portions (7) between the protruding parts (5, 6).

Abstract: Heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) systems and heat exchangers are provided that include multichannel tube configurations designed to reduce refrigerant pressure drop through a heat exchanger manifold. In certain embodiments, tubes inserted within the manifold adjacent to a refrigerant inlet have non-rectangular or recessed end profiles configured to increase flow area near the inlet, thereby reducing a pressure drop through the manifold. In further embodiments, insertion depths of the tubes within the manifold vary based on distance from the inlet. This configuration may establish a larger flow area adjacent to the inlet, thus reducing the pressure drop and increasing heat exchanger efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20110088884
Abstract: The invention concerns a header plate, preferably for a heat exchanger, such as water cooled charge air cooler (WCCAC), comprising a coolant housing having two opposing walls made up from two header plates (11, 12), which are made of sheet metal of a defined thickness (t). The header plates (11, 12) form parts of air tanks and are passed by air tubes extending through said coolant housing from one of said header plates (11, 12) to the other. The header plates (11, 12) have stamped apertures (15), in which said air tubes are inserted and tightly connected to the header plate sheet metal. The apertures (15) have peripheral rims (22), which protrude on one side of the header plate (11, 12) in question and give an extra support to the air tubes inserted in the apertures (15) of said header plate (11, 12). The distance (da) between adjacent apertures (15) and thus the distance (dt) between adjacent air tubes is less than two times the thickness (t) of the header plate sheet metal.

Abstract: A packer device, with a commercial name called “Frac Disc” includes an interior packer mandrel and radially surrounding cone, slip and seal system that seals and engages the surrounding casing or other tubular member. The cones expand the slip system and the slips compress and expand the seal system, simultaneously. The slip system provides a means for supporting the seal system when pressure is applied from above or below the packer. The close proximity of the seal and slip system in combination with a separating packer body provides for a very short packer, or a “minimum material packer”, that offers lower cost, higher performance, and if required, faster mill-out.

Abstract: A method for improving liquid injection into a rock formation. The method includes the steps of introducing a gas impulse device into a wellbore in the formation and pumping a pressurized liquid into the wellbore. The method also includes firing the gas impulse device periodically so that the device generates impulses of high pressure compressed gas. The gas expands through the pumped pressurized liquid substantially instantaneously increasing the liquid flow rate into the rock formation, and creates rapid cyclical injected liquid surges into the rock formation with liquid oscillation occurring inside the fractures and/or pores of the formation. The method may be used in regular oil production applications, waterflooding of wells that have ceased to be productive, in preventing lost circulation in oil wells, and in injecting hazardous wastes into rock formations.

Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide a technique for bringing a center of gravity of a battery-powered power tool closer to a working axis of a tool bit in the battery-powered power tool. The battery-powered power tool performs an operation by movement of a tool bit 119 in an axial direction of the tool bit. The power tool includes a battery 110, a motor 111 that is driven by power supply from the battery 110, a mechanical arrangement 113, 115, 117 that drives the tool bit 119 by rotative power transmitted from the motor 111, and a tool body 103 that houses the motor 111 and the mechanical arrangement 113, 115, 117 and has a front end region in which the tool bit 119 is disposed. A sum of weights of the motor 111 and the battery 110 is smaller than a weight of the mechanical arrangement 113, 115, 117.

Abstract: Techniques or processes for providing markings on products are disclosed. In one embodiment, the products have housings and the markings are to be provided on sub-surfaces of the housings. For example, a housing for a particular product can include an outer housing surface and the markings can be provided on a sub-surface the outer housing surface yet still be visible from the outside of the housing. Since the markings are beneath the surface of the housing, the markings are durable.

Abstract: An electrical line for the connection of non-stationary electrical loads to a power source is specified which has a line core surrounded by a jacket (8) of insulating material. Four wires (1), stranded together to form one star quad (S), for the transmission of data, and also two wires (2) stranded together to form a pair of wires (A) and used for supplying power are placed in the line core. The star quad (S) and the pair of wires (A) are stranded together as stranding elements for forming the line core and, over the same, a layer (5) of insulating material is placed, over which a braid or a stranded cover layer of copper wires is arranged in a first layer (6) as part of an electrical screen. At least one layer of a fleece material consisting of synthetic material and made electrically conductive is placed over the first layer (6) as second layer (7) of the electrical screen and the fleece material is surrounded by the jacket (8) of insulating material.

Abstract: Disclosed is a metal structure of a multi-layer substrate, comprising a first metal layer and a dielectric layer. The first metal layer has an embedded base and a main body positioned on the embedded base. The base area of the embedded base is larger than the base area of the main body. After the dielectric layer covers the main body and the embedded base, the dielectric layer is opened at the specific position of the first metal layer for connecting the first metal layer with a second metal layer above the dielectric layer. When the metal structure is employed as a pad or a metal line of the flexible multi-layer substrate according to the present invention, the metal structure cannot easily be delaminated or separated from the contacted dielectric layer. Therefore, a higher reliability for the flexible multi-layer substrate can be achieved.

Abstract: A printed circuit board and a manufacturing method of the same are disclosed. The method includes: preparing a carrier including a primer resin layer formed thereon; forming a circuit pattern on the primer resin layer; stacking the carrier onto an insulating layer such that the circuit pattern is buried in the insulating layer; removing the carrier; forming a via hole in the insulating layer on which the primer resin layer is stacked; and forming a conductive via in the via hole. The conductive via is formed by forming a plating layer in the via hole and on the primer resin layer and removing a portion of the plating layer formed over the primer resin layer.
