Abstract: A countertop cooking device such as a slow cooker or rice cooker which operates to initially reach a heat within the cooking cavity sufficient for sauteeing or braising food. A microprocessor communicating with a temperature sensor monitors the cooking cavity in order to sense drops in temperature. When a sudden drop in temperature occurs due to the addition of liquid to the cooking cavity, the device is caused to drop to a lower cooking temperature appropriate for boiling, simmering, or maintaining food warmth.

Abstract: A cooking appliance (1) includes a lower casing (2), a lower food-contacting heating plate (3), and an upper bell-shaped body (4) which is movably mounted on the lower casing (2) so as to be movable to and from a closed position. An upper food-contacting heating plate (5) is located inside the bell-shaped body (4) so as to be positioned, when the bell-shaped body (4) is in the closed position, over the lower heating plate (3). The upper food-contacting heating plate (5) is connected to the bell-shaped body (4) to move freely inside the bell-shaped body (4) in a direction (d0) substantially perpendicular to the reference laying plane of the upper heating plate (5). A heating-plate locking device (14) selectively impairs movement of the upper heating plate (5) in the moving direction (d0), and a control unit (9) controls the heating-plate locking device (14).

Abstract: A heater plate is constructed with an embedded thermal diffusion layer of pyrolytic graphite to provide increased temperature uniformity in a critical heating surface. The heater has first and second metal plates with a heater element contained within the first plate and a core of the pyrolytic graphite diffusion layer sandwiched between the heater element and the second metal plate. The diffusion layer may be sputter metal coated to improve bonding of the layer to the plates.

Abstract: A heating device and a heating method which is able to quickly and accurately partition each region of a material to be heated and heat up each of the region to a required temperature, and a shape and required temperature of each region is different from each other. A heating device for heating a material to be heated by applying an electromagnetic wave to the material, wherein a plate member(s) which shields, absorbs and/or reflects the irradiated electromagnetic radiation and has a predetermined pattern contour can be placed, at least partially, close to the material to be heated.

Abstract: The device comprises an induction coil (1, 1a, 1b) located around a tubular support (2) wherein the device (3) to be disassembled is housed, and it includes an alternating current generator (4) that feeds the coil in order to melt the thermoplastic material joints of the device by induction heating a metallic element of said device, which allows performing the manual disassembly of the elements constituting the device. An application is the recycling of screen displays. The invention is also related to a method that incorporates some steps according to that described for the device.

Abstract: To obtain a converter circuit capable of being made to be small and light-weighted and reducing switching loss, a motor drive control apparatus, an air-conditioner, a refrigerator, and an induction heating cooker provided with the circuit. There are provided: a step-up converter 3a including a rectifier 2, a step-up reactor 4a, a switching element 5a, and a reverse current prevention element 6a; a step-up converter 3b having a step-up reactor 4b, a switching element 5b, and a reverse current prevention element 6b and connected in parallel with the step-up converter 3a; switching control means 7 that controls switching elements 5a and 5b; and a smoothing capacitor that is provided at the output of the step-up converters 3a and 3b. The switching control means 7 switches the current mode of the current flowing through the step-up reactors 4a and 4b into any of a continuous mode, a critical mode, and a discontinuous mode based on a predetermined condition.

The heat generated by the magnetic heater, as well as the heat generated by the engine from the engine exhaust and engine cooling system, is combined to heat a working fluid.

Abstract: The invention described herein generally pertains to coupling microwave energy into a tuned multi-section WR-975 waveguide assembly, connected to a waveguide containing a ceramic cylindrical applicator, terminated in a dummy load, for pre-heating fuels to improve vaporization, combustion efficiency, and soot reduction in combustion chamber(s). Designed primarily for processing liquid byproducts produced during biodiesel fuel manufacturing, this invention establishes a charge density in a cross-coupled applicator, according to the applicator's volume, dielectric characteristics of the materials being processed, applied frequency, and voltage. This invention may also be used for preheating or polarization of solids within a pipe-conveyed slurry, such as biosolids, bituminous coal, crude oil sludge, paper pulp or shale oil rock.

The link member may be configured to accommodate relative movement between the tank and the support structure through rotation. In an embodiment, the evaporator fan is turned on and off at substantially the same time as the compressor is turned on and off. In another embodiment, there is a predetermined delay after the compressor is turned on and off before the evaporator is respectively turned on and off. Other variations are contemplated.

Abstract: Apparatuses are disclosed for a small group to drink a potable liquid, such as an alcoholic beverage, or other beverage. A container preferably made of glass, metal, and/or ceramic material, and having an aperture, is provided to accommodate the potable liquid. A substance with a selected temperature is added to the container. A prefilled canister of potable liquid can then be inserted through the aperture so that the canister comes in contact with the first substance, whereby the selected temperature of the substance is allowed to influence the temperature of the canister, and thus the temperature of the potable liquid as well. A dispenser assembly with one or more hoses, pumps, and mouthpieces are also provided. Each such hose, pump, and mouthpiece facilitates a corresponding consumer in consuming the potable liquid. In a preferred embodiment, the pump dispenses a predetermined volume of the beverage to the consumer in a controlled unidirectional flow.

Abstract: A combination dispense and recirculation valve assembly is disclosed for viscous fluids. The assembly easily moves between a dispense and a recirculation position. Therefore, a pump linked to the canister of fluid being dispensed can be run continuously, intermittently or on demand. After the dispense, the actuator moves the valve stem downward to block any further dispense and the pump recirculates fluid upward past an upper valve element and upper valve seat into a recirculation outlet and back into the canister. In the closed position, the valve chamber is sealed to prevent air from causing any remaining colorant to dry. When a dispense is desired, the actuator simply raises the valve stem upward so the upper valve element engages the upper valve seat thereby preventing fluid from being recycled and directing all fluid downward past the lower valve element and out through the nozzle.

Abstract: A hand-held non-lethal self-defense chemical spray device possessing a focused light source that automatically activates upon removal of the device from a holster to aid in the safe and effective use of the device by the operator such as a law enforcement officer. The focused light source emits a light in the direction of the chemical spray prior to and during discharge of the device to aid in the aiming of the chemical spray and assist the operator in seeing the target in low-light conditions. The focused light source automatically turns-on upon removal of the device from a holster, and automatically turns-off upon replacement of the device inside the holster. The spray canister does not require the user to manually activate the light source and retains similar size shape and form to that of a conventional self defense spray canister already in use by law enforcement officers nationwide.

Abstract: The present invention is a toiletries dispensing device with a back plate that supports a non-evasive means for mounting the toiletries dispensing device on a wall or other vertical mounting surface, a plurality of dispensing bottles with a pump disposed on top of each dispensing bottle to dispense toiletries as desired by a user, a flange assembly with a top surface and a removable section with a plurality of attachment tabs, a stationary section with a plurality of receiving slots and a plurality of pump apertures that hold and secure the dispensing bottles. There is also a mountable lock to lock the dispensing bottles in place and a bottom support surface with a smooth surfacing that the dispensing bottles are set on. There is also a method for replacing the dispensing bottles as well.

Abstract: A waterless hand sanitizer dispenser is disclosed which integrates the dispensing of waterless hand sanitizer into an interactive play environment, so that young children are not required to interrupt play to clean their hands, but instead are induced to clean their hands through the very act of engaging in play. In preferred embodiments, the dispenser includes a reservoir of waterless hand sanitizer, and an air compressor that is able to mix air with the sanitizer and create foam therefrom. The foam is integrated into an interchangeable interactive play environment such as imaginary snow, rain, or soap suds. In preferred embodiments, the toy dispenser is securely mounted to the surface of a tabletop or inside the clear sphere of a wonka embodiment, and the air compressor is manually-operable, pedal-operable, and/or mechanically driven. A far infrared sensor can be used to dispense the waterless hand sanitizer.

The frame 1 provides a hose connector 8 to accept the intake of hydraulic fluids into the cylinder 2 and piston 3 structures; this would provide hydraulic force to actuate the piston 3. Said cylinder 2 has a hose connector 12 to accept the intake of liquids for dispensing from the reservoir 4. This connection allows the cylinder 2 to be refilled without having one of the ends of the cylinder 2 opened. A piston rod 7, secured to the piston 3 and movable therewith, allows for the piston 3 to be retracted to its initial position either manually or with the use of a mechanical device. Retracting the piston 3 to its initial position creates a vacuum effect that forces the liquids for dispensing from the reservoir 4 into the cylinder 2.
