Abstract: A protective device for protecting the heel of the hand, comprising an impact-resistant protective portion and a securing means for securing the protective portion to the hand. The protective portion is arranged to cover, in use, the heel of the hand, and is so configured and dimensioned that it does not extend towards the fingers or the wrist substantially beyond the heel of the hand. In the event of a fall, the impact-resistant protective portion of the device provides protection for the wearer from the impact of the heel of their hand with the ground. However, as the protective portion does not extend towards the fingers or the wrist substantially beyond the heel of the hand, movement of the wearer's wrist is not restricted.

Abstract: An electric toothbrush is disclosed. The toothbrush includes a housing; a brush; an electric motor for driving the brush; a power supply for providing the electric power required for operation of the toothbrush; a switch mechanism for turning the drive on and off; and an electronic circuit for adjusting the effective voltage (UMot) applied to the electric motor. In operation, a voltage supplied by the power supply declines with the discharge status of the power supply from a high-voltage range to a low-voltage range. During operation of the toothbrush in the high-voltage range (H), the effective voltage (UMot) applied to the electric motor is lowered to a level at which the electric motor has reached a rotational speed corresponding essentially to the rotational speed of the electric motor in the medium-voltage range.

Abstract: The invention relates to a mechanical toothbrush with a dual rotary brushing system having a handle and a head fixed on the handle. The head is provided with adjacent contrarotating brushes that are of cylindrical shape and have substantially parallel axes, each of them being supported at least at their distal end by a bearing and each being driven by a shaft. The shafts are flexible and supported by the two bearings to allow the two brushes to move away from and towards each other. The support includes four flexible branches around a central component serving to fix the support on the head composed of a single arm. The support and/or the head of the toothbrush are designed such that the support is fixed on the head while allowing the support to pivot about its point of fixation to the head.

Abstract: A wafer on which a CMP processing is completed is rotated. A front surface cleaning brush and a rear surface cleaning brush are made contact both surfaces of the wafer while being rotated. After the front surface cleaning brush and the rear surface cleaning brush are made to contact the wafer, both end portions of the front surface cleaning brush and the rear surface cleaning brush are deformed by means of pressurizing both ends of the front surface cleaning brush and the rear surface cleaning brush by pressure portions. That is, the both end portions of the front surface cleaning brush and the rear surface cleaning brush are compressed to enlarge diameters in the both end portions. As a consequence, the entire front surface of the wafer is made to contact the front surface cleaning brush substantially evenly, even if the wafer is warped into a shape of a mound. Therefore, a cleaning efficiency of the outer peripheral portion of the wafer improves.

Abstract: A bidirectional bristle pig provides a means for collapsing or restraining the bristles so that the pig may be used in a reciprocating manner or, when the pig becomes stuck, the pig may be easily retrieved in a direction opposite that of the initial direction of travel. The bristle pig has at least one set of outwardly projecting cleaning wires or bristles located toward one end of the pig body and a sliding collar. The sliding collar moves between a first position and a second position to restrain the bristles at the desired leading end of the pig and forces the bristles downward and away from the inner wall surface of the pipeline. In the restrained state, the bristles no longer interfere with the movement of the pig in the desired direction. The sliding collar may move in response to pipeline pressure or may include a tether line.

Abstract: Toothbrush comprising a plurality of multi-action bristles which enable the cleaning between the teeth and on the surfaces of the teeth. Certain of the bristles are longer than others, enabling them to reach into small but deep crevices on the surface of the tooth, and between teeth. Certain of the bristles are harder than others, enabling the effective cleaning of the tooth by removing stubborn debris that would remain were the bristles too soft. The bristles can be provided in spaced arrays, and a single filament attached to the head of the toothbrush at a point intermediate its length can be used to form a longer and a shorter bristle extending orthogonally from the head. Reduction or elimination of bacteria residing on the toothbrush is achieved by incorporating in the bristles or filaments making up the bristles one or more antimicrobial agents, such as nanosilver.
