Patent number: RE42489Abstract: A modality of twitch obtaining intramuscular stimulation (IMS) pain relief therapy employs an EMG needle having a Teflon coated shaft and exposed conductive tip to apply micro-electrical stimulation locally and focally to muscle motor end plate zones or regions of adjacent motor end plate zones. The electrical stimulation facilitates the elicitation of strong twitch responses from muscle fibers associated with the stimulated motor end plates, generally without requiring physical needle manipulation following the initial pin insertion. Less skill is required to effectively elicit pain relieving twitch responses, thus facilitating training of medical personnel to carry the procedure. Rapid movement between multiple treatment sites is possible allowing treatment of a larger number of afflicted muscles and muscle areas in a single treatment session. The strength and number of twitches obtained at the treatment sites can provide substantial relief from regional and diffuse myofacsial pain of radiculopathic origin.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2002Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignees: JusJas LLC, Oxford Instruments Medical LimitedInventors: Jennifer Chu, Peter Styles

Patent number: RE42492Abstract: This invention describes a novel two way hinge for motor vehicle doors that hinges open at a 20 degree angle, then rotates upward 45 degrees. The motor vehicle door is maintained in the open position by a shock absorber/piston arrangement that is common in the automotive industry. The invention described herein can be installed by an aftermarket shop and/or sold as an easily installed kit. The present invention overcomes the shortcomings of existing hinges by allowing greater access for ingress and egress from existing motor vehicle doors in tight parking situations.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2005Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Vertical Doors, Inc.Inventor: Robert Baum
-
Patent number: RE42493Abstract: A resistivity device for downhole use with a nonconducting mud injects a current at a frequency sufficiently high to pass capacitively through the mud and a mud cake into the formation. The frequency is further selected so that the impedance due to the dielectric constant of the formation is small compared to the formation resistivity. Dual frequency measurements may be used to further minimize the effects of the mud and mud cake resistivity. When multiple frequency measurements are used, frequency focusing may be used to get an estimate of formation resistivity that is independent of near borehole effects.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2008Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventors: Leonty Abraham Tabarovsky, Albert Alexy

Patent number: RE42494Abstract: A voltage level shifting circuit (FIG. 4) has a plurality of PMOS transistors M1, M2, M3 connected in parallel for respectively driving a capacitive load CL with a selected different voltage level V1, V2 or V3. Transistors M1, M2, M3 are controlled so that one of them is placed in the ON condition, with the others in the OFF condition, to connect one of the voltages V1, V2 or V3 to charge the load CL. The largest voltage transistor M3 has its body connected to its source. The lower voltage transistors M1, M2 have their bodies respectively connected to switches S1, S2, which connect the bodies to the sources when the transistors are placed in the ON condition and connect the bodies to the highest voltage V3 when the transistors are placed in the OFF condition.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2007Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventor: Ross E. Patent number: RE42495Abstract: An intruder detection and warning system has a plurality of infrared sensors for receiving infrared radiation from respective contiguous areas of premises in need of security. A central illumination unit including a rotatable light is operated to project a beam illuminating a selected one of the contiguous areas of the premises in response to the received infrared radiation by the infrared sensor in the selected area indicating presence of a person in the selected area. Initially a polite message randomly selected from a group of different polite messages is broadcast to request the intruder to leave the premises. When continued presence of the intruder is detected, the light beam is moved away from and then back to the selected area and a further message randomly selected from a group of different more demanding messages is broadcast to demand the intruder to leave the premises.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2010Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Communicated Enforcement, LLCInventors: Stephen Whitten, Richard Stockstill

Patent number: RE42496Abstract: A control system which provides directional control over various real and virtual vehicles, craft and moveable subjects. The control system includes a housing, a controller in the housing having an electronic radio control PC board or an electronic video control PC board and tilt switches which are fixed relative to the housing at preferred orientations. The switches are connected to control terminals of the electronic control PC board. With the tilt switches fixed relative to the housing, orientation of the housing can result in the electronic control PC board transmitting signals to a remote vehicle, craft or virtual subject. Rather than tilt switches, the control system can include pots having shafts orthogonally arranged relative to the housing. The pots are connected to control terminals of the electronic control PC board. Pendulums are fixed to the shafts of the pots.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2008Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Inventor: Clayton R. Golliher

Patent number: RE42497Abstract: An apparatus and method for obtaining depth-resolved spectra for the purpose of determining the size of scatterers by measuring their elastic scattering properties. Depth resolution is achieved by using a white light source in a Michelson interferometer and dispersing a mixed signal and reference fields. The measured spectrum is Fourier transformed to obtain an axial spatial cross-correlation between the signal and reference fields with near 1 ?m depth-resolution. The spectral dependence of scattering by the sample is determined by windowing the spectrum to measure the scattering amplitude as a function of wavenumber.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2008Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Duke UniversityInventor: Adam Wax

Patent number: RE42498Abstract: A wide image scanner which can scan the image of a large scale original using only a regular image sensor is provided. The invention includes a sliding shaft, an image reading device, a number of paper width sensors, a paper edge sensor, and a control module. Whenever the paper edge sensor detects the presence of an end edge of the original, it will send a vertical control signal to the control module to control the rotation direction of the rollers. On the other hand, the paper width sensors detect the width of the original and send the horizontal control signals to the control module. From the horizontal control signals, the control module can determine the number of horizontal displacement positions and control the horizontal displacement each time for the image reading device after the paper edge sensor detects the end edge of the original. The procedure continues until the image reading device has been moved to the final displacement position predetermined by the horizontal control signal.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2005Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Transpacific Opties LLCInventors: Ming-Chung Tang, John Lin
