  • Patent number: 7971471
Abstract: The gas sensor has a selectively permeable membrane which is composed of silicon material and is provided with a heating device on the outside. The membrane closes an evacuated housing which contains a pressure sensor. When evacuating the area surrounding the housing, the heat dissipation is changed as a result of the quick change in the total pressure of the surrounding air, with the result that signal drift arises despite temperature regulation of the membrane. The disclosure provides at least one second heating device whose temperature is regulated independently of the first heating device. • Patent number: 7971473
Abstract: An apparatus and process for testing airflow through a turbine vane under actual engine airflow conditions. The apparatus includes first a second static pressure chamber each with an opening on which a cover plate is to be secured to enclose the chamber and hold the vane in place for testing. Each chamber includes a pressurized air supply tube that extends into the chamber to deliver the volume of air necessary for testing the airflow. The chamber is of such a size that the high volume of pressurized air delivered to the chamber will enter the vane as static air for the testing. The cover plates are formed of two halves in which the vane endwall can be secured between the halves. A stand supports both cover plates so that the plates and the vane can be moved into position where the cover plates are secured to the opening of the chamber for testing. The pressurized air supplied to both chambers flows into the vane and through the film cooling holes so that proper testing of the airflow can be done.

  • Patent number: 7971474
Abstract: The internal combustion engine system of the invention calculates a time constant of a high pass filter for eliminating a resonance component of a damper as a distortional element from a rotation speed of an engine, and sets the high pass filter with computation of a transfer function from the time constant. The set high pass filter is applied to a 30-degree rotation time representing a rotational variation of the engine to obtain a filtered 30-degree rotation time with elimination of the resonance component of the damper. The occurrence of an engine misfire is detected, based on a 30-degree rotation time difference and a misfire detection base difference computed from the filtered 30-degree rotation times. This arrangement ensures highly-accurate detection of the occurrence of a misfire in the engine constructed to output power via the damper as the distortional element, irrespective of the rotation speed of the engine.

  • Patent number: 7971479
Abstract: A fluid flow rate measurement apparatus prevents accumulation of pollutional substances in a sub-passage to enable high-accuracy fluid flow rate measurement. A heater pattern is formed on the surface of a cylindrical rod. When electricity is conducted in the heater pattern and heat is generated, the heat is transmitted to the sub-passage through an insulating layer. The heat is gradually transmitted up to the leading end of the sub-passage, and burns out pollutional substances adhering to the sub-passage. In this way, accumulation in the sub-passage of pollutional substances can be prevented, thus attaining a fluid flow rate measurement apparatus that enables high-accuracy fluid flow rate measurement.

Abstract: A device for axial load measurement on a mechanical control device (10) having rotating shaft (30) maybe used to derive a torque measurement. A mechanical control device (10) may comprise a valve actuator for fluid flow control devices. The load measurement device may include a beam (65a) operatively connected to a rotatable shaft and configured to deform under axial displacement of the shaft. A sensor (80) maybe coupled with the at least one beam (65a) and configured to produce an output signal related to the axial displacement of the shaft. The beam may be retained between two bearings (74) of the rotatable shaft at a first end, and fixed to the housing (120) of the mechanical control device at a second end. The first end of the beam (65a) may displace axially with the rotatable shaft. The beam (65a) may comprise a discrete segment of a uniform width and thickness.

  • Patent number: 7971493
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for operation of a flow measurement device, and to a flow measurement device itself. In order in this case to record the conductivity of the medium or faults resulting from deposits by means of a measurement tube configuration in a technically simple manner, a total of at least 4 electrodes are arranged distributed on the circumference of the measurement tube, in the measurement tube. When a signal is fed in at one of the electrodes or at an electrode pair, an electric current is measured between one electrode pair, while an electrical voltage is measured between another electrode pair. An impedance value is determined from the two measured values, from which impedance value a conductivity of the medium is determined and/or in comparison of different conductivities or in comparison with historical values, it is deduced that there is a covering layer on the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 7971496
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the elastic deformation of components, especially parallel kinematic devices, under a load. Said method is characterised in that the geometry of the articulation points on the fixed platform (9) and the mobile platform (10) is determined; the replacement spring constants of the actuators (K1, K2, K3) and the replacement spring constants of the bearings are determined; the theoretical length of the actuators is determined; the theoretical position of all of the articulation points in the area is determined therefrom; the forces acting on the individual actuators are determined from said geometry and the load (F); and the real geometrical image and thus the real position of the mobile platform are determined from said forces. The real position is compared with the calculated theoretical position and is brought into line by the actuation of corresponding actuators.
