Patent number: 8023592Abstract: Pipelined digital processing circuitry for use with a particle size measurement system, such as that employed in automated hematology systems, measures the ‘center’ amplitude of a pulse produced by a particle or cell passing through a flow cell measurement aperture, such as the detection aperture of a Coulter Principle-based electronic particle analysis system. The circuitry of the invention processes successive pulse samples by means of a half-peak/half-width methodology that analyzes each pulse as its continuously sampled and temporarily stored in memory. Concurrent analysis of the data in memory during storage locates the pulse width at a prescribed percentage (e.g., 50%) of the peak amplitude of the pulse. This pulse width data is then processed to determine the pulse amplitude at the midpoint of the width of the pulse between its mid-peak values on rising edge and fall edge portions of the pulse.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2005Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Beckman Coulter, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey L. Patent number: 8023593Abstract: Systems and methods according to the present invention provide channel estimation methods, systems and devices which determine a coarse channel estimate (40) and a fine channel estimate (66). The coarse channel (40) estimate can be determined based on the channel estimation sequence transmitted to the receiver and then used to detect header symbols. The header symbols can be used to calculate additional channel estimates which can then be combined with the coarse channel estimate (40) to determine a fine channel estimate (66).Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2005Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: NXP B.V.Inventor: Yifeng Zhang

Patent number: 8023595Abstract: A time-of-arrival (TOA) estimation method for multi-band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) signals uses a simple equally-spaced channel model to recover the impulse response of the wireless channel, and locates the delay of the first channel path by minimizing the energy leakage from the first channel path. The TOA is estimated based on the delay. Such a method does not require channel information for TOA estimation at the receiver and does not require modification of the receiver structure. The method also avoids a sub-optimal solution known to occur in maximum likelihood (ML) estimation.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2008Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: NTT DOCOMO, Inc.Inventors: Huilin Xu, Chia-Chin Chong, Ismail Guvenc

Patent number: 8023598Abstract: A system and method are provided for automatic gain control (AGC) using an adaptive reference and a threshold. An adaptive reference allows for adjusting the target power based on variations in operating parameters and conditions, such as a change to a modulation schemes which requires a different signal to noise ratio (SNR) to maintain performance. A gain adjustment threshold allows for rapid AGC response while reducing the potential effects of hysteresis. AGC levels may be changed during symbol prefixes or suffixes, and avoided during a data portion of a signal. Embodiments allow for symbol-by symbol AGC changes in OFDM, OFDMA, and TDD systems.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2007Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Adaptix, Inc.Inventor: Haitao Wang

The telephone call to the first telephone number is interrupted, a second selection of the destination options is received, and the telephone call is routed to a second telephone number corresponding to the second selection.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2009Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventor: Carol Gruchala

Patent number: 8023633Abstract: A communication assistance system for providing access to information corresponding to a plurality of subscribers includes a telephone switch for receiving calls from a plurality of requesters desiring to access the subscriber information. A listing database is configured to store the subscriber information including a field containing wireless phone numbers of a desired portion of the subscribers and a connect field that stores information instructing the system as to whether to mask the subscriber's wireless phone number to the requester, such that during a process that the requester is being connected to a desired subscriber, the connect field is examined to determine whether to disclose the subscriber's wireless phone number to the requester.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2006Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Grape Technology Group, Inc.Inventors: Robert Pines, Evan Marwell, John Blakeney, Christine Baumeister

Patent number: 8023636Abstract: A computer readable medium stores a computer program for interactive training based on a simulated customer interaction. The computer readable medium includes a dialog code segment that provides a predetermined customer portion of a dialog segment from the simulated customer interaction to a trainee. The dialog segment includes the customer portion and at least one predetermined keyword associated with the customer portion. The computer readable medium further includes a response code segment, which receives a response to the customer portion from the trainee, and a determining code segment, which determines whether the response includes the at least one keyword.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2005Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Sivox Partners, LLCInventors: Robert Kevin Koehler, Gregory Scott Schatzlein, Marie Jeanine Glaspie

Patent number: 8023637Abstract: Resource allocation in a contact center can be performed using a network of nodes. Such a network of nodes can be organized according into resource nodes, domain nodes, and service nodes, with paths from the domain nodes, through the service nodes, to the resource nodes being used in the allocation.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2007Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Convergys CMG Utah, Inc.Inventors: Scott Irwin, Kishore Korimilli

Patent number: 8023638Abstract: A system and method for balancing agent console load during automated call processing is provided. A plurality of agent consoles are operated in a call center. Progress of a call session of a caller that is calling into the call center at each agent console is monitored. An absolute upper limit on a number of the call sessions allowed at each agent console at any given time is assigned. A load of call session assignments on each agent console is balanced. Objective and subjective conditions pertinent to each assigned call session are continually collected from each agent console. The objective and subjective conditions that affect call session availability are updated for each agent console. The objective and subjective conditions are evaluated against the absolute upper limit to determine a load factor. Each call session is assigned to one such agent console within bounds applicable to the load factor.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2007Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Intellisist, Inc.Inventors: Adam Waalkes, Gilad Odinak, Haodong (Howard) Jiang, Matthew Thorn, Tom McCann

Patent number: 8023639Abstract: A method of determining the complexity of a telephonic communication received by a contact center is provided. The method comprises the step of establishing a call rule based on one or more of a call duration threshold, a non-interaction threshold, a distress event threshold, a third party dialog threshold, and a call transfer threshold. A recorded telephonic communication is received and call attributes associated with the telephonic communication are determined. The call attributes include one or more of the following: call duration data, non-interaction data, distress event data, third party dialog data and call transfer data. The established call rule is compared to the call attributes of the telephonic communication, and data indicative of the complexity of the telephonic communication is generated.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2008Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Mattersight CorporationInventors: Kelly Conway, David Gustafson, Douglas Brown, Christopher Danson

Patent number: 8023641Abstract: Disclosed is a non-linear echo canceller and method for cancelling echo during full duplex communication in a hands free communication system. An input signal from a far-end talker and an input signal from the output from an echo canceller are received. K spectral subbands are created for each input signal. The spectral echo residual power at each subband is estimated and compared to a clean signal power to calculate a signal to echo ratio. Gains are calculated based on each calculated ratio and non-linear echo is cancelled based on the calculated gains.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2008Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Zarlink Semiconductor Inc.Inventor: Kamran Rahbar
