Abstract: A new and distinct Malus domestica apple tree variety named ‘New York 1,’ particularly characterized by having attractive red fruits that are sweet, juicy and have a crisp texture and ripen early mid-season. The fruit of ‘New York 1’ has excellent quality at harvest that it maintains during long storage (100-150 days). Trees are annually productive. ‘New York 1’ was tested as NY 98804-001.

The filter configuration is readily inserted into the u-shaped channels existing on the forward and rear edges of the v-shaped perforated third plane. Three dimensional image input system is realized by preparing each image input system of both left and right view with this electronic zoom image input method.

The system includes a grid projecting for projecting a grid, an image acquisition apparatus that includes a camera, and a computer. Providing a reference object having common elements with the object to measure, the method includes the steps of a) positioning the grid at three different known positions relative to the camera and the common elements; b) for each position of the grid, projecting the grid unto the reference object and, with the camera, taking an image of the reference object to yield three images having values for each pixel of the camera and c) computing the reference object phase for each pixel using the three reference object intensity values for the corresponding pixel. Steps a), b) and c) are repeated by replacing the reference object by the object to be measured.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for supporting intelligent call routing (ICR) systems multiple vendors, in a vendor neutral fashion using a computer is described. One embodiment has a voice program send a call routing request using an HTTP format to a call routing program. The call routing program decodes the HTTP request and identifies the appropriate vendor-specific communication format and communications method for talking to the ICR system specified in the HTTP request. The call routing program sends the request and receives the answers from the ICR system in the vendor specific formats. The call routing program provides the ICR system response back to the voice program in a vendor neutral fashion. This approach allows voice programs to easily be written that work with multiple ICR systems and allow component reuse of call routing code amongst programs that end up working with multiple systems.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable-torque magnetorheologically actuated prosthetic knee which utilizes a plurality of interspersed and alternating rotors and stators to shear magnetorheological fluid in gaps formed therebetween. Advantageously, by operating in the “shear mode” there is substantially no or negligible fluid pressure buildup or change. Moreover, the multiple MR fluid gaps or flux interfaces desirably allow for the production of a large torque at low speed—eliminating the need for a transmission—and also for a wide dynamic torque range. One embodiment of the invention allows the rotors and/or stators to close the gaps therebetween to create a frictional torque component, thereby forming a “hybrid” braking system which provides a total torque or damping which is a combination of viscous torque and frictional torque.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for converting information from a text format to an audio format using distributed processing. A first set of computer readable program instructions receive information from a data source, convert the information from the text format to an intermediate format, and transmit the information in the intermediate format to a second data processor. A second set of program instructions, executable on the second data processor, are also included to convert the information from the intermediate format to the audio format. The first set of program instructions are executed on a remote, or server side, data processor, while the second set of program instructions are executed on a client side data processor. The first set of program instructions expand the information in the text format into phonemes using a grapheme to phoneme dictionary. The second set of program instructions convert the phonemes to audio output signals.

Abstract: A head-covering apparatus is disclosed, which extends over the top of a human head and down its sides and toward the back of the neck. The apparatus has a forward extending portion with two pocket-style openings, the first pocket for receiving a flexible material that makes up the head-covering portion of the apparatus, and the second pocket for receiving the visor or bill of a baseball-style hat.
