  • Patent number: 8104465
Abstract: A high-efficiency, small-scale, combined heat and power, concentrating solar energy system (200), designed specifically for residential and other relatively low-power applications, rendering it cost-effective and economically viable. Two-axis tracking of a dish-like reflector (10) of between 1 and 2 meters in aperture ensures very high concentrating ratios of between 200 and 8-suns or even higher. In consequence very high coolant outlet temperatures, of 120-180° C. may be reached at the outlet of the collector coolant, which may be oil, gas, or pressurized water. The high coolant temperatures are advantageous because they may be used for air-conditioning. The high concentration is advantageous because the efficiency of the photo_voltaic cells is improved with higher concentration. The overall efficiency is greater than 60%.

  • Patent number: 8104471
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus and a method for surveying and analyzing flow signals that can be picked up by means of flow measuring arrangements in the flow through breathing gas supply systems, in particular CPAP devices, air humidifiers, breathing gas lines, and breathing masks. One aspect of the invention is to furnish ways to increase the reliability of flow signals. In one embodiment, there is provided a device for evaluating a flow signal, picked up from a line provided for carrying breathing gas, having an electronic measurement data processor. The measurement data processor is configured such that it subjects the measurement data detected to a time-frequency-amplitude (TFA) series analysis and generates recordings, by which for the flow signal, the amplitude value of the frequencies contained is apparent.

Abstract: A respiratory mask (10) that comprises a mask body (12) and a harness (21) that includes a carriage (22) and a strap (24). The mask body (12) lacks a rigid insert, is non-elastomeric, and is adapted for fitting over a person's nose and mouth. The mask body (12) has a nose portion (14), a chin portion (16), first and second cheek portions (18 and 20), and an axis (32) that extends from the nose portion (14) to the chin portion (16). The mask body (12) is constructed to deform such that the first and second cheek portions (18 and 20) move towards each other about the axis (32). The carriage (22) is joined to the mask body (12), and the strap (24) is joined to the carriage (22) for supporting the mask body (12) over a person's nose and mouth. When tension is applied to the strap (24) and an opposing force acts at the nose and chin portions of the mask body, the first and second cheek portions (18, 20) exhibit movement about the axis (32) towards each other.

Abstract: A septic field dosing system is described which utilizes a self starting true siphon to deliver a dose of septic tank effluent into a conventional septic field. The precision siphon unit not only eliminates the need for electrical services to the septic tank, thereby eliminating the need for pumps and solenoid operated valves and switches at the septic tank, but also contains the effluent handling equipment in a small unit. For example, the drawdown of the septic tank is used to entirely control the operation of the dosing siphon. Further, the dimensional configuration of the precision siphon operates within the boundaries of the draw down to deliver a proper size dose to the septic field. While a typical septic tank can hold of the order of a thousand or more gallons, the precision siphon can easily fit into a five gallon bucket.

  • Patent number: 8104510
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for regulating the flow of a liquid or gaseous medium, having a valve housing (11), which has at least one valve inlet (15, 16) and a valve outlet (17) as well as at least one valve opening (18, 19), located between the two and surrounded by a valve seat (21, 22); having a valve member (23) controlling the valve opening (18, 19); and having a valve member actuating device (14), which has a valve closing spring (36) and an actuator (37) operating counter to the valve closing spring. For creating a robust device with a long service life, and in which the valve member actuating device (14) is hermetically separated from the medium, the valve member (23) has a closing body (24), cooperating with the at least one valve seat (21, 22), and a frame (25), separated from the medium, for engaging the valve member actuating device (14), which frame surrounds the closing body (24) and is solidly joined to it.

  • Patent number: 8104511
Abstract: A sequential stepped directional control valve accepts pressurized hydraulic fluid from a pressure port, and directs that pressurized fluid to a first stage port, or to both a first stage port and a second stage port. In the neutral position, the valve blocks the flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid into the valve. In the first stage position, pressurized hydraulic fluid flows into the valve and is directed by the valve to the first stage port, however, the fluid flow to the second stage port is blocked. In the second stage position, pressurized hydraulic fluid flows into the valve and is directed to both the first and second stage ports. When the valve transitions from the first stage position to the second stage position, the valve does not cycle through a neutral position, and the flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid to the first stage port is uninterrupted.
