    Abstract: A modular shell system of a hard insulation material fabricated in a geometric shape that encapsulates a pipe in insulation is provided. In an attic installation for example, the entire insulation component is inserted over a pipe and into the space between the building structural wood framing members resting on the interior sheathing below. By placing a series of these interlocking insulating modules along a pipe that is run perpendicular to the building construction members, the piping is encapsulated in a continuous insulating system along its entire length. This design facilitates natural heat flow into the pipe with an open pipe slot cavity in the insulating module that allows natural convection heat to pass up through the elongated piping slot, allowing it to come into contact with this piping.

The backer rod may include an elongated tube defining a total assembly volume and a hollow interior, and a core disposed within the hollow interior. The core material is expandable when exposed to fire, such that the core has an intumescent expansion factor sufficient to expand to a volume beyond the total assembly volume. The backer rod may be press fit into a void between two surfaces to a depth. A sealant layer may be formed within the void. When exposed to fire on a side opposite the sealant layer, the external shell disintegrates, the core expands within the void in a direction away from the sealant layer, and a fire-resistant barrier is formed within the void between the surfaces.

    Abstract: The installation comprises an infeed conveyor (7) and an outfeed conveyor (8) with, between the two, a module (5) for forming a wrapping of the tray or wrap-around type, the cleated belt conveyor (11) of which is constituted by two continuous belts (11a, 11b) which are retractable so as to allow the installation of a substitute conveying system (13) which is capable of forming a continuous slider bed between said infeed conveyor (7) and said outfeed conveyor (8). This arrangement makes it possible to provide a versatile installation which is capable of carrying out on the one hand, wrapping operations with blanks of the tray or wrap-around type and on the other hand, simply transporting batches of products, said products being, for example, placed on supporting cardboard sheets so as to convey them to the packing machine to receive a plastic film and then into the heat-shrink tunnel to complete the wrapping.
