  • Patent number: RE43235
Abstract: A graphics controller for a System-On-a-Chip (SOC) used with a battery-powered device allows for reduced-power display modes. The microprocessor writes to a frame buffer that is a single, contiguous address block in virtual memory. A memory management unit (MMU) translates frame-buffer address to multiple physical blocks. The graphics controller fetches pixels from the multiple physical blocks, including a block in an on-chip memory and a block in an external memory. In a low-power mode, pixels are only fetched from the lower-power on-chip memory and not the higher-power external memory. A smaller display window is defined and pixels outside the window are replaced by dummy data, .eliminating external-memory fetches. The smaller display window falls within the first block in the on-chip memory. Status and other information can be displayed in the smaller display window during stand-by modes, while a full-screen of data is displayed for full-power modes.

  • Patent number: RE43236
Abstract: An automatic temperature compensated real-time clock (RTC) chip includes a clock portion having a crystal oscillator block including crystal compensation circuitry adapted to be coupled to a crystal. The crystal compensation circuitry includes a non-linear capacitor DAC including a plurality of load capacitors, wherein the load capacitors have respective switches which switch respective ones of the load capacitors to change a parallel resonance frequency (fp) generated by the oscillator block. The capacitor DAC is arranged so that Analog Trimming (ATR) bits received cause an arrangement of the switches to provide a non-linear change in overall load capacitance to result in a linear relationship between fp and the ATR bits. A temperature sensor block is coupled to the crystal for measuring a temperature of at least the crystal. An A/D converter is coupled to the temperature sensor for outputting a digital temperature signal representative of the temperature of the crystal.

  • Patent number: RE43237
Abstract: The system and method is used for CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) control format recording, whereas the existing disk data is recorded under CLV (Constant Linear Velocity) control format recording. When the PUH receives a laser driver signal, it generates a feed signal and a wobble signal. The feed signal is received by the automatic power control; thereafter the automatic power control generates a first control signal used for causing the laser driver to adjust the laser driver signal. After the ATIP decoder receives the wobble signal, the ATIP decoder generates and outputs ATIP decoded data to the CLV value detector. The CLV value detector receives ATIP decoded data and generates a CLV decoded data to the laser power control. The laser power control receives the CLV decoded data and generates a second control signal used for causing the automatic power control to adjust the first control signal.

  • Patent number: RE43247
Abstract: A system having a distributed web site is described. The web site is distributed between a client, a server and a web server. The client stores a set of predefined applications that correspond to a part of the web site. The applications are formatted according to a first markup language. From the set of predefined applications, the client can generate queries. The server receives the queries and generates new, related queries. The new queries correspond to a second query protocol. The second query protocol is used by the web server. The web server generates responses to the new queries and sends these responses to the server. The responses are formatted according to a second markup language. These responses correspond to the second portion of the web site. The server then converts the responses into new responses that the client can use.

  • Patent number: 8132273
Abstract: A toilet fill valve having a mechanism for preventing leakage from a tank of the toilet between flush cycles. The mechanism includes links that are normally locked to prevent the fill valve from opening. The links are operatively connected to a handle of the toilet such that the links are unlocked and allow the fill valve to open only when the handle of the toilet is purposely operated to initiate a flush cycle. Otherwise, the links do not allow the fill valve to open even if water leaks from the tank and causes a float of the fill valve to be lowered.
