  • Patent number: 8146172
Abstract: A method for creating garment cuffs includes applying a high-polymer heat-sealable material on a cuff area of the fabric used for the garment. The heat-sealable material and the fabric underneath are then cut with an ultrasonic cutter to form the cuff and concurrently finish the lower edges of the cuff. The heat-sealable material has properties that allow it to stretch from an equilibrium point in response to tension applied on the material, and recover back towards the equilibrium point in response to release of the tension on the material. Reinforcing the cuff area with the heat-sealable material allows the cuff area to maintain its stretch and recovery properties even after the fabric has degraded after extended use and washing of the fabric. Furthermore, the ultrasonic cutting causes some of the heat-sealable film to melt into the cut edges of the fabric at the cuff to create substantially sealed edges at the cuff.

  • Patent number: 8146173
Abstract: The present invention is a golf club which induces proper grip and suitable swing by removing the thumb-covering portion of a golf glove so as to extend the Skin Contact Length between the thumb and forefinger. Due to the absence of a thumb covering, structural problems with the glove covering stretching from the thumb area toward the palm may arise when centrifugal force is imparted by the golf club. If the glove covering has been stretched, the covering will become folded when the club is gripped; this causes a pull on the left thumb when gloves are worn and leads to improper grip. Therefore, in order to provide elasticity with regard to stretching, in place of sheepskin the area subject to stretching is processed with a Spandex material having excellent elasticity and flexibility.

  • Patent number: 8146189
Abstract: A patient alignment device includes a table and a rotatable member positioned to rotate relative to the table. The rotatable member may be a head-support plate or a board which supports substantially all of a patient's body. A motor moves the board or plate so as to align the patient's body, or a part of the body, in a desired direction. The board may be formed in two segments, the segments being selectively connectable to each other, the segments also being selectively connectable to the table by pins, at various possible pivot points. Positioning of the pins determines the mode of rotation of the board. The invention allows an operator to align the patient's body with precision, by remote control, and without interrupting the medical procedure.

  • Patent number: 8146204
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing the torque of a compound balance in order to substantially cancel out the torsional force of the torsion spring acting on the spiral rod by creating an equal and opposing torsional force on the extension spring. The apparatus is an assembly connector that is non-permanently engaged with the extension spring, with the spiral rod being tensioned by the torsional force of the torsion spring. Alternatively, the extension spring may be turned in a direction to apply more torque than is required for operation of the compound balance. It is then engaged with a non pre-tensioned spiral rod sub-assembly to transfer the excess torque to the torsion spring of the spiral rod sub-assembly. In this manner, the opposing torsional forces of the torsion spring and the extension spring acting on the spiral rod substantially cancel out each other.

  • Patent number: 8146207
Abstract: A hinge is mounted between a cover and a base of an electronic device and has a first actuating unit, a pivoting limit and a second actuating unit. The first actuating unit has two tops. The pivoting limit is mounted pivotally between the stops. The second actuating unit selectively abuts a first side and a second side of the pivoting limit. When the second actuating unit abuts one of the sides of the pivoting limit to pivot the pivoting limit, one of the sides of the pivoting limit abuts one of the stops to limit the rotating angle. With the pivot of the pivoting limit, the rotating angle is increased. Therefore, the cover of the electronic device is fully rotatable by 180 degrees in either direction, and the hinge still provides limiting function to protect inner wires.

Abstract: A support device or clamp connects to a soft, flexible tube, such as a medical line, to hold the tube in an open condition. The device includes a flexible body with interengaging structure that biases the body into a desired shape when in a closed position or condition. The desired shape generally matches the outer shape of the medical line. An adhesive is disposed on the support device so as to contact the secured portion of the medical line to inhibit the walls of the line from collapsing or creasing. The support device may include base structure that has an adhesive lower surface for attaching the support device to a patient's skin.

Abstract: A hand puller with a detachable handle includes a body, an axle, and a handle. The axle is passed and mounted onto the body, and a sheath opening is formed at an end of the handle for sheathing an edge of the axle, such that the handle can be turned by using the axle as an axial center, and a guide section is defined and formed at an external periphery of the sheath opening, and the body includes at least one stop portion protruded from a position proximate to the guide section of the handle. When the handle is turned by using the axle as the axial center, the guide section and the stop portion are slidably coupled to restrict a radial movement of the handle to prevent the handle from being separated from the axle along the radial direction.

Abstract: A small, easily transportable wind turbine system has a square rail base secured to the ground by stakes and by its own weight. Slanted vertical legs connect a smaller square upper support perimeter to the base. A three-section telescoping mast is attached to the base and to the upper support. Winches and guy wires raise the second mast. As the second mast is raised, static guy wires raise the third mast. A wind generating turbine is attached to the top of the third mast. A controller senses the maximum output of the turbine and raises or lowers the height of the masts such that the minimum wind speed necessary to produce the maximum electric output is produced. The controller also feeds energy to a battery storage system and directly to a utility panel.
