Patent number: 8146172Abstract: A method for creating garment cuffs includes applying a high-polymer heat-sealable material on a cuff area of the fabric used for the garment. The heat-sealable material and the fabric underneath are then cut with an ultrasonic cutter to form the cuff and concurrently finish the lower edges of the cuff. The heat-sealable material has properties that allow it to stretch from an equilibrium point in response to tension applied on the material, and recover back towards the equilibrium point in response to release of the tension on the material. Reinforcing the cuff area with the heat-sealable material allows the cuff area to maintain its stretch and recovery properties even after the fabric has degraded after extended use and washing of the fabric. Furthermore, the ultrasonic cutting causes some of the heat-sealable film to melt into the cut edges of the fabric at the cuff to create substantially sealed edges at the cuff.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2009Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Winds Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Paul Urban Geiwald

Patent number: 8146173Abstract: The present invention is a golf club which induces proper grip and suitable swing by removing the thumb-covering portion of a golf glove so as to extend the Skin Contact Length between the thumb and forefinger. Due to the absence of a thumb covering, structural problems with the glove covering stretching from the thumb area toward the palm may arise when centrifugal force is imparted by the golf club. If the glove covering has been stretched, the covering will become folded when the club is gripped; this causes a pull on the left thumb when gloves are worn and leads to improper grip. Therefore, in order to provide elasticity with regard to stretching, in place of sheepskin the area subject to stretching is processed with a Spandex material having excellent elasticity and flexibility.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2007Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Inventor: Jeong Yong Kim

Patent number: 8146204Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing the torque of a compound balance in order to substantially cancel out the torsional force of the torsion spring acting on the spiral rod by creating an equal and opposing torsional force on the extension spring. The apparatus is an assembly connector that is non-permanently engaged with the extension spring, with the spiral rod being tensioned by the torsional force of the torsion spring. Alternatively, the extension spring may be turned in a direction to apply more torque than is required for operation of the compound balance. It is then engaged with a non pre-tensioned spiral rod sub-assembly to transfer the excess torque to the torsion spring of the spiral rod sub-assembly. In this manner, the opposing torsional forces of the torsion spring and the extension spring acting on the spiral rod substantially cancel out each other.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2009Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Caldwell Manufacturing Company North America LLCInventors: Robert M Lucci, Wilbur James Kellum, III

Patent number: 8146207Abstract: A hinge is mounted between a cover and a base of an electronic device and has a first actuating unit, a pivoting limit and a second actuating unit. The first actuating unit has two tops. The pivoting limit is mounted pivotally between the stops. The second actuating unit selectively abuts a first side and a second side of the pivoting limit. When the second actuating unit abuts one of the sides of the pivoting limit to pivot the pivoting limit, one of the sides of the pivoting limit abuts one of the stops to limit the rotating angle. With the pivot of the pivoting limit, the rotating angle is increased. Therefore, the cover of the electronic device is fully rotatable by 180 degrees in either direction, and the hinge still provides limiting function to protect inner wires.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2009Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Shin Zu Shing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shun-Yu Hung, Chung-Min Yeh

Patent number: 8146215Abstract: A flexible connection and release device which allows quick release while under load. The device includes a first link; a second link; a first sling having one end attached to the first link; a second sling having one end attached to the second link; a tab attached to the first sling; a grommet contained in the tab; a curved length of a first flexible cable connected between two fixed points in the first sling on either side of the tab; a second flexible cable; and a pin or a third flexible cable. The links are connected together with multiple turns of the second flexible cable which forms a loop at its center. The curved length of the first flexible cable is passed through the loop in the second flexible cable and through the grommet so that a part of the first flexible cable protrudes from the grommet. The pin or third cable is passed through the protruding part of the first flexible cable to lock the first flexible cable in place.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2011Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the ArmyInventor: James E. Patent number: 8146217Abstract: A body bag for water retrieval of human remains is provided. The body bag is lightweight and disposable. The body bag is made of a material having a hole ratio per unit weight of material in a particular range that permits rapid water drainage yet provides sufficient strength and integrity to the body bag, and reduces cross-contamination. The body bag can have a skid pad on an exterior surface as an aid to lifting the body bag out of the water and over the gunwale or sides of a recovery vehicle. The body bag also can have large handles for ease of gripping and to attach buoyancy devices. The body bag further can have a snag line around its periphery.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2010Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Paper-Pak IndustriesInventors: Ronald Jensen, Richard Beu

Patent number: 8146219Abstract: A small, easily transportable wind turbine system has a square rail base secured to the ground by stakes and by its own weight. Slanted vertical legs connect a smaller square upper support perimeter to the base. A three-section telescoping mast is attached to the base and to the upper support. Winches and guy wires raise the second mast. As the second mast is raised, static guy wires raise the third mast. A wind generating turbine is attached to the top of the third mast. A controller senses the maximum output of the turbine and raises or lowers the height of the masts such that the minimum wind speed necessary to produce the maximum electric output is produced. The controller also feeds energy to a battery storage system and directly to a utility panel.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2008Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Inventor: Erik J. Monostory
