Abstract: An information system for a motor vehicle is provided. The information system can include an on-board information system operable to accept input information, conduct a search and provide output information to an individual within the motor vehicle. In addition, an on-board hands free phone system can be included and be operable to communicate with an off-board phone and record and/or stream an utterance communicated by a user of said off-board phone. The on-board hands fee phone system can record/stream the utterance using a recording and/or streaming function, e.g. through the use of a Record and/or Stream button and/or a voice activated Record and/or Stream command. The recorded and/or streamed utterance can be provided to a voice recognition system that can translate the utterance into input information for the on-board information system which can then conduct the search and provide output information for an occupant of the motor vehicle.

Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided for management of content in a mobile device. Content can be firmware associated with mobile functionalities, or data a mobile can process. To effect a content update, a first network platform that serves a multimode mobile device through a first radio access network (RAN) can facilitate establishment of an end-to-end tunnel to the multimode through a second RAN associated with a second network platform; the first network platform can then push the content update to the multimode mobile through the second RAN. Typically the second RAN employs a distinct radiofrequency band than the first RAN; thus the content update is offloaded from traffic in the first wireless network. Content updates can be signaled through the first RAN and implemented upon end-to-end tunnel establishment to the first network platform through the second RAN. Moreover, said updates can be scheduled according to a network-configured subscriber update profile.

Abstract: Methods of enabling late entry into an on-going spread spectrum call are described. A late join frame replaces, and has the same size as, a traffic frame. A late join slot in the late join frame contains sufficient information in preamble and sync subframes to permit a target to join the call. The traffic slots in the late join frame replicate data such that call quality of the call is substantially unaffected if one of the remaining traffic frames is not received. The preamble and sync subframes frequencies may be the same as, or different from, preamble and sync frames frequencies during a call establishment phase of the call. If different, the preamble and sync subframes frequencies are selected from one or more frequencies. Use of the preamble and sync subframes frequencies is compensated for when selecting the traffic slot frequencies to obtain uniform utilization of the spectrum.
